English Stereotypes

Speedy Transition

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

I thought id make a little topic to talk about somthing that gets my mane in a knot, Stereotypes.. English ones at that, now i cant tell you how many times i have been talking to someone from, lets say America, and i have been talking to them on Steam or Skype, what ever it may be.

Now 9 times out of 10, they will do one of a few things, and they are..
  • Repleat what i say in (what they think) is a English accent sounds like
  • Straght up insault me
  • Or make fun/say insaulting things about they way England is run.
  • mocks the English via stereotypes
  • doesn't know the difference between "English" and "British" nor can they name the geographical or political bodies that make up the UK.
Or even a few times, Someone has told me in great detail about killing the Queen, now i for one dont care too much the Queen, but none the less she is the Obama of England, so to speak, and its not polite in anyway to say such a thing, to anyone.

Now, i understand some people dont like other people, just cuz of where they are from, now as stupid as that is, everyone can have there own opinion, but i find it funny, how some of the younger people from America i have spoken with dont know anything about England, but Stereo types, but they think that they are 100% true, now i can remember when i went to school, us English had to learn almost everything about America, but In American schools they dont learn the correct facts?

I dont have anything against Americans, but im just using them as a example (I understand not all are like this only a few)

Now here you can see what most think a Englishman is like

Now i understand that some people in England may look/dress like this, these people tend to be a bit older then most English people, or live in a much more "posh" region of England, Now there is nothing wrong with that, and i think its a nice, upser class look about it, but people need to know that not everyone in England are like this, or how they are depicked in shows like Family guy.

But now on to the biggest english stereotype, tea..
Yes alot of English people such as myself drink Tea, that is one Stereotype that is very true, but we are not the only Country in the world that drinks it..
Yes some people do eat "crumpets" but again NOT EVERYONE DOES i mean i cant even remember the last time i saw one, let alone eat one!

Now there are other such as the way we talk, now like is said before "Very few" do talk like a Stereotype, like "pip pip Jolly good, tally ho" But not everyone does!

I can go into way more, and get my mane even more knotted up.. but i just hope that this will educate alot of you Ponies :)

I would like it known i dont have anything against people from other Countrys or anything like that, i thought id set the record a little straght :P

And: Whats a crumpet?

:o

They're the living embodiment of delicious, the nectar of gods, the ying to the yang, the food one would happily sell their soul for, a taste that would drive a man insane.

Actually, they're not very great. They're. . . this (Its hard to explain so picture):

Ironically enough, the Americans you seem to be talking about sound like stereotypical Americans.

The stereotypical American:

  • eats fast food all the time
  • mocks Canada
  • mocks the English via stereotypes
  • doesn't know the difference between "English" and "British" nor can they name the geographical or political bodies that make up the UK.
  • Thinks the US won the War of 1812 despite something called Status quo ante bellum
Not all Americans are like that, though there are many on the internet that behave in such a manner.

Its like toast/cake You can buy them, and Posh English people eat them with Tea :)

I really don't see why some people don't like (or even worse: hate!!) people from other countries. Its stupid. Three words: Love and tolerance. And: Whats a crumpet?

Tell you the truth bro, they really are a mystery wrapped up in an enigma :P

Ya, but Canada and the UK are targeted the most :P

Guess it depends on where you're from. I hear a lot more hate for the Middle East around here.

But then, I live in a pretty backwoods area. I'm surrounded by racism.

True I forgot about all the hate the Middle East gets.

Crispy in a nutshell

You get used to it. It's all in good fun, ClapClop, don't take it personally.

I think it's the epitome of stereotyping. It's how the English casually sit around.

I've heard more mockery of France than I have of England.

Americans are stereotyped as all owning tons of guns and packing heat wherever they go. When I was in Japan, I was asked multiple times if I or my dad had guns. Which we do. Plenty of guns :)

I think you were too UK-centric when it came to the US-stereotype.

The stereotype is rather this on geography:

They cannot put any country correctly on any map ... unless the countries are named on said map, in which case they have a sporting chance of guessing the right place for the country in question. ...
