Briar nodded along as he followed, though slowly to make sure that Brittle wouldn't fall behind. The old bridge wasn't falling apart, but that didn't mean that it made her any less scared of falling over the side if she wasn't careful, and as such until about halfway out, she had little to no speed at all. She might have sped up after that if it wasn't for the cat that had wandered over to them and started to talk, which made her take a step back and Briar to halt for a moment.

"And a good morning to you as well Syo."

Brittle didn't say anything, but she did look a little bit less scared of Syo than of Seamore. Mostly it was a matter of size, though the fact that Syo could talk did rattle her a more. She had been in forests running away for years, and she had never seen a talking animal, and she wasn't sure what to make of it. In cases like that, she just went with her gut instinct of being sure it was dangerous, but Briar seemed to know this one too so... Perhaps friendly?

As Briar wandered on, walking towards Seamore while keeping track of things around the three of them still on the bridge, Brittle gave a small, barely visible smile to Syo and followed him, looking into the boards for holes until they finally got solid ground under their hooves again.

"Ah, much better. Say, Syo? Would you perhaps be interested in joining us for the time being? I understand if you have other things to attend to, or have little interest in watching us making sure that what was taken from the ground returns, but it seems rather rude to not make you the offer."

"Heh, you really don't get it, do you? Their existence is an anathema to our own. We feed on love. They feed by breeding hate. Everywhere they've traversed have been areas full of jealousy, spite, contempt and distrust. Entire hives have starved because the towns they fed off of suddenly became toxic. For their existence to continue, ours has to be threatened. And vice versa. Areas of love are a dead zone to them. Where we hold dominion are killing grounds. The mere efforts for one to continue are a threat to the existence of the other. We are the perfect example of natural enemies."

Doctor Xeno began his work, focusing his telepathic energy toward Queen Allure. Strands of bluish white, almost electrical energy extended out of his horn, one of which connected to the Queen and caused the same to happen to her, but the energy strands extended from her horn much more slowly. "Well, if that's how you feel, why not just 'love and tolerate' them until they starve and go away? If you continue wasting energy on hating them, they'll never leave you alone, you're just feeding them at that point." Another strand of energy extended from Queen Allure's horn, this one much thicker and brighter than the others. This stronger connection extended quickly until it made contact with Charlie's horn causing another network of thinner strands to extend from his horn as well. "Interesting, judging from this I believe your connection to this Everspirit is much stronger a bond than I thought it would be. I'd even go as far as to say you might be able to contact him while you're awake. I'm almost done here, just a little bit more to go," at this point, the strands were almost at the same length as the doctor's. When Miles mentioned how the Queen might be able to talk to Charlie while she's awake, his eyes lit up, "Yay! Another friend to talk to!" With one final push the strands suddenly extended the last few inches, then the doctor stopped the spell and the strands disappeared, "And we're done. Now we just have to walk you back to your dream."

"We're here," Luna said before opening the door to the library. She walked over to one of the shelves, then levitated a book off of one of the shelves without even looking. She laid the book down in front of herself, looked at it, then realized, "This isn't the right book. This book doesn't even belong on that shelf. This has all been rearranged," she said, a little annoyed but also a little worried that she would not be able to find the book she was looking for, although she was still doing her best to block her emotions magically. Twilight must not have been able to help herself, with so many old books to sort. "The book we are looking for is an Eighth Edition Earl Errol Einstallion's Extensive Education on Elegant Everwood Enchantments," she said while looking around pulling out books and putting them back, trying to find the book in question.

@@cwhip9,

Much as it was a commendable effort, Crescent wouldn't actually be doing much to the large orb Vivid brought with her, as she controlled it's movement entirely by magic to keep it stable. He likely wouldn't notice it much, but if she had let him try and carry it he would have. Both from the fact that it would have been too heavy for him to carry, and because the orb itself would make him scream in agony if she wasn't keeping her own magical field around it too. Though, it was perhaps for the best that he didn't know that bit. At least for now.

"Perhaps it was too brief then. I am Vivid Loss."

She recalled Crescent from what she had seen with the spider the night before, and the few minutes in the dream realm where Luna had shown up, but it was feasible that he hadn't seen her much, since in both cases he would have other things to focus on. Considering her physical changes, what she brought with her, and the odd way that her last words seemed to echo in faint whispers after she stopped talking, she wouldn't blame him for not recognising her right off the bat either. The last time he might haves seen her would have been a little more... Mundane, so to speak.

Granted, he wouldn't be able to see what was actually inside the package/orb, but she knew enough about the current age to know that curiosity had certainly not died out, and it drew a good deal of focus from certain individuals. If Crescent was one of those she didn't know, but if he were, she hoped that he would be able to control it a little. At least until the pieces were set.

But they'd see. For now, it seemed like they had found a good enough spot for her to settle this. Not what he might have in mind, but as they had wandered, they had nearly passed a minor room, perhaps once used for having a few couches lines up with a table in the middle, but now dusty and empty. It would fit her purpose well.

"Please stay out here, it won't be safe for you to be in there."

She would wait until he had let go off the package before floating the large orb inside the room - she had to make it a little more narrow to get through the door opening - and then started to chant in a tongue that Crescent shouldn't be able to recognise, and most assuredly not speak/understand unless he had a demonic influence somewhere in his recent bloodline. Or had known one that taught him some phrases, though those kind of teacher demons tended to be rare in her experience.

That aside, when the chanting began and the orb settled in the middle of the room, nothing seemed to happen for the first few seconds. After that though, it started to go down rapidly.

Hundreds of small string flew out of the walls and connected themselves to the orb, quickly resulting in it being stuck in the middle of the air. He wouldn't have much time to see that, nor the darkness that seemed to cover the room a little by little, before tentacles would cover the door opening in it's tight coil of deep purple and here and there, a ghostly pale.

"There. That should keep unwanted hooves off it. Now then, you said you were looking for the others?"

Vivid's horn stopped glowing as she addressed Crescent. Or at least where he had stood when she saw him 10 secons ago, before she had anchored her package in the small room in front of them. It might be he had taken off after all, or perhaps had seen a chance to sneak into the currently sealed room, though she hoped for his own sake that he hadn't. It would not be a good start to his day to experience even a few seconds of what her little *security measures* would do.

"Oh, oh, I can help find something to eat. Can Humans eat cupcakes?"

She was close to finishing that sentence with *Fishy* but managed to hold it in. Mr. Human didn't seem to like being called a fish, and as she looked up on the odd, but sad creature, she tried to keep in mind not to push that button again. Poor Mr. Human didn't have a good day right now anyway, and he missed his friend, so it wouldn't be nice to stir him or make him more sad.

Briar met the slip of tongue from Seamore with nothing resembling hostility, but simply chuckled a little at tha whole thing when he started to apologise. It was one of the small things in life that amused him.

"There's no need to apologise, though I do appreciate the sentiment. Even though there was a time when being confronted with that sort of thing or hearing minor missteps brought me some shame, I have long since moved past it, and I don't find any ire towards those that forgets it for a sentence or two. it would be a fair bit too petty of an act to dwell on in my perspective..

Besides, I am certain that it Is a beautiful thing to behold, and regardless if I can see or not, I will be able to feel some of that. Nature haves a certain vibe to it that haves it's own beauty for my kind you see, sight or not, and especially when one connects to it we can feel through our being how it blossoms in that moment..With a magical sapling, I only expect this sensation to be of a greater magnitude, and not being able to see it does not diminish the slight giddiness I feel over that in the slightest."

Granted, he wouldn't mind being able to see how it were, but for now it was still an impossible task. Even if he had struck a figurative deal with the devil - or rather, a favourable agreement with Vivid - it would not be until later, and so the moment would pass. A pity, but it would not be something that would draw his mood down considering all the positives that this day might bring.

It might bring him down some if it turned out that he could not use his regular treatment on these saplings as he normally did for plants, because their magical nature would negate things, but he was sure that was just a slight paranoid delusion. He was a magical plant in a sense as well, so if anything, perhaps the effect only took greater root.

Six changelings stood guard at the door to Celestia's chambers. They followed their orders to the T. And for good reason. Not just because it was the orders of the Queens appointed second in command, but because they were in hostile presence.  One of the diarchs of the kingdom one of their fellow hives tried to invade, representing a potentially adversarial regime towards their entire race. And her companion, a Siren, their natural enemy, a species who's very efforts to exist are a threat to their own.

Vigilance was paramount. Right behind those doors was their Queen, her mistress, and their children. It wasn't just orders or a common mission to survive that compelled them to obey. It was a personal obligation. Right now, things were quiet in there. meaning both of them were resting peacefully.

*Thunk!* And that lady Priestess was still had a habit of tossing and turning. None of them were sure how well that would go for either of them with an everwood shaft currently impaling one of them.

He was walking toward the door, which hadn't disappeared when it closed earlier, with the others following him. There were many ponies and Everspirits throughout a gigantic field with trees each a good distance from the others. Under some trees ponies and other creatures were meditating, talking to each other, or, solely in the case of Twilight off in the distance, reading a book. "Just so you know, having a link to an Everspirit means you can travel to the unlocked dreams of anyone else I have a connection to without my help, but i can also guide you to the dreams of others you have met personally. I can also teach you how to lock your dreams so you won't get any unwanted guests."

At this point, they were right in front of the door out of the Grove. "Once we pass through this door, we will be in a state of non-REM sleep, it's the stage where your mind actually rests. Typically you wouldn't be able to dream in non-REM but due to the magic involved here, you can. Passing through here will help strengthen the repairs I made as your mind can finish healing there. @@cwhip9,

"Demons are one part of the delicate balance of creation itself."

Vivid wandered in his pace down the hall, thinking over things whilst she answered the first question.

"Fire, water, air and earth is a balance that out very worlds are forged from. Chaos and Order makes the rules of things, giving equality and filtering in the magic needed for destruction and creation, represented by Discord and Celestia on your plane. And life and death - the most basics of truths - makes it so that ones like you and I even exist in the first place.

Like them, Demons are part of a balance that needs to be there to create the boundaries of everything. The balance of morals, represented by the Angels as the basis of good, and Demons as the base root of evil."

In essence this was the truth of things. There were more details in this, and far more balances, but this was the base of it all, and truth be told she did not have an overview of the whole picture, just an outline. She didn't even know who or what had set this boundary on things to begin with, but at this point she would honestly be surprised if anypony did. Even the dead, whose memories went far back, didn't have a clue about it, and the Reapers... Well, if anypony would know, it would likely be them, but it was easier to make a Changeling feed off it's own love than to make one of the collectors talk.

"The two beings each live on a higher plane, normally called Hell and Heaven, and influence things from each their angles while their existence creates the balance that makes us able to tell what and who is good or bad, though their direct involvement changes from world to world.

Amongst the Human world as an example, their influence have grown deep roots, whilst some places like Equestria, they are pushed off as old mare's tales and small titbits in ancient history, either not finding the realm interesting enough or not having as much luck with the inhabitants.

They have each their goals, wants and ways of life, but they all seek the same: Soul energy to make them stronger. Angels tend to get it by getting devoted followers that sacrifices the energy to them when they die via things like religions or outright cult-making, while Demons tend to offer anypony what they want in return for their soul, generally a good deal of time before they would normally die.

The way they harvest the energy isn't something that would take the lifetime of you and your next two generations to hear through in details, but the base of it is that the Angels put you in a sedated illusion that they call paradise, while the Demons tend to torture it out of you."

It was a good deal to lay on him at once, but he wouldn't get the context of what Demons and Angels were if he didn't know the base story and purpose of the races, and if he didn't understand what they were, he wouldn't get as weary about demonic energy as she wanted him to be.

"Deals with Demons though, haves a bigger price than torture after death, since they tend to pull tricks to get what they want fast. So you might for example make a deal for plenty of money, but it might well be cursed if you did not specify it shouldn't, or made a deal with one of the more well meaning amongst them. After all, they are bound to honour their deals, but they are still evil and greedy by nature, so it leads to scouring their binding contracts for ways to make it a better deal for themselves instead of playing nice more often than not.

As an example, when I sold my souls to three demons nearly 1800 years ago , I failed to see the part of the contract where I was bound to work for them until the end of my usefulness and life. I might have gotten power, youth and eternal life as they promised, but it turned out to mean little when that life was in chains.

That aside, I think I explained enough to get you an idea what Demons are, and why their presence should worry you. Some Demons can be good, just like some Angels can be evil, but generally speaking I would approach either one with suspicion, and close your ears for honeyed words. It's a lesson I learned much too late."

Her scaled tail twitched slightly under the cape and she felt the urge to just blast a piece off the wall out of this place to release some of the excess energy that was paining her right now, but she resisted the urge for now. She still had something else to use this on, no matter how much of a liability it was to lob around with, and wasting it what might be a bearing wall wasn't doing her any good.

"The second question thus far is easier to answer: Yes, spirits can be unruly and dangerous, which is where somepony like me comes into the picture. Soul collectors or Spirit guides - whichever this age uses - leads the dead on that can't on their own, generally by harvesting left over energy. Given enough time, that energy can be used, and I've had plenty of time.

And yes, this means that i can see the lost souls that clings to this world, even in this otherwise abandoned castle."

"Hmm, that could be pretty damn useful, or just plain fun." she thought to herself about entering the dreams of others. "Y'know what, I could use the ability to lock off my dreams. Since I could do it, could that potentially extend to my entire hive as well?" The more safety she had from any of the princesses, the better. "You said Petey was also injured. Is he asleep now as well? What about Priestess?"

"Petey only suffered a minor telepathic overload, it's nothing that wouldn't heal itself if given a few weeks. However, I can heal the damage and restore his connection to the hive tonight. As far as Priestess goes, I will have to do a much more thorough assessment to see wether or not removing the stick now is a good idea. She's in stable condition, the Everwood is positively charged so it's helping to heal any of the damage it caused. If the damage is extensive, leaving it in until the wound has healed more may be the best option. When we are far enough along to remove the stick, it must be done slowly so the stick's magic can close the wound completely. For now, it's probably best that you return to your dream and get some rest. The others would not be asleep yet as time moves quicker here than there. By the time I wake up, only a couple minutes should have passed," Miles said. Then Charlie decided to chime in, "While we wait for the others to fall asleep, I can teach you how to lock your dream, then we can go to one of their dreams and teach them the same. Now, the only way for either of us to reach their dreams is together unless you learn powerful dream magics like Luna has." They stepped out into the hall. Queen Allure would be able to clearly recognize which door belonged to who, including hers and Priestess's. Any door that belonged to someone who wasn't sleeping would appear translucent, as if it wasn't completely there.
