How effective is a pony's "cute gaze"?

A lot of pony fanart usually has an Equestrian pony gaze at the viewer, either in happiness, or sorrow. Some people think that looking at their gazes directly allows them to influence you to love them or do as they wish.

But how effective would you think this will be?

Depending on the pony and who they'd used it on, I'd say it'd have different levels of usefulness and power, from Pre-Timeskip Sakura-level to Lelouch's Geass-level.

They say a "stare" can suck the soul right outa the most hardened of knights. Seen it myself. Man was built like a fortress, 6 foot high and thicker than a tree trunk he was, they say he had killed over 50 men at Hastings, poor sod never saw it coming. All it took was one stare, one simple eye to eye contact, and the beast of a man was reduced to a dribbling mess. Never look in the eyes of those ponies, for even the strongest of men are bested by it.

And in reality, it would depend on your emotional state as to how effective it is, if you are already in a state as to spare their lives, but indecisive, one can be persuaded to spare the creature due to this harmless and "cute" stare.

In all seriousness, at least all the seriousness one can get from candy colored equines, it all depends on who it is staring at you. Like Fluttershy has mastered the 'Shame Stare' a stare that shames the victim into compliance.

Anyway, their cute stares are just that that. Cute. They can make people go  "awwwww!!  " But that's really it. I'm not sure if they can directly influence you. I suppose the faces do make people like the character more and therefore that might make people wish to do the characters bidding or fall in love with them. But I don't think is it the face itself that hypnotizes and influences them. Also I suppose it depends on the persons willpower as well.

The reason being that Discord at the time felt no shame for his actions. he had nothing to hold him back until Fluttershy became his friend.
