Is Applejack actually a bronco?

Here are some hints that make me think about it:

- She participates in rodeos

- She acts mostly like a wild pony

- She's the most athletic earth pony seen

- She has the most cowgirl characteristics only compared to her cousin Braeburn

Now, I've read a little about broncos and technically there are some hints that could tell something about it:

- Broncos tend are more impulsive, Applejack is

- Broncos blast more energy than any other horse type, Applejack does

- Broncos  have a more unpredictable behaviour, though there are not too much examples unless her friends can't predict what she's going to do

- Broncos are the most bucking horses, and as I know very few ponies can buck trees as hard as Applejack

I don't know because my knowledge on horses is limited so i can't say.

Same here. I don't know much about horses.

I think a big question would be... can broncos be ponies at the same time?

I googled "bronco" to find out what it was, but google insists it is a car... and since I don't think that is what you are trying to say, I'm here to ask: What is a bronco?

edit: Nevermind, nearly everyone already said it is a horse

A bronco would be like a feral pony, and Applejack is far from feral. She is actually the most down to earth of the mane six. Find a pony raised in the wild and never learned the civilized pony ways and you got yourself a bronco

Are you the ones who said you Googled and found the car being sarcastic or what?

If you have ever heard about rodeos at least once in a lifetime you may know the horse type I'm talking about

No, if you just google "bronco" you get a few links to the Ford Bronco, which looks like a Jeep. I also got lots of links to the Denver Broncos.

Yeah, I know that car cause my uncle had one, however how hard can Googling "Bronco Horse" be?

Well, I think that they didn't know a bronco was a horse. And since they didn't know it was a horse, they just googled "bronco" instead of "Bronco Horse".

I know what you mean, it appeared a Northern Mexican band to me, but I thought everyone knew the Bronco was a horse cause it's a very known horsetype in rodeos.

I'm Brazilian, I know nothing about rodeos... except the fact I don't like them, so it was impossible for me to know what was it

  • 10 months later...

Getting back on topic, Wikipedia (that invaluable compendium of meaning less drivel & trivia) says "bronco" derives from the Spanish word for rough.  Could be EQ slang for a rodeo pony, or the rural equivalent of chulo
