I'm not a clopper or anything, but I got to say, Sunset Shimmer is one of the hottest ponies...her cutie mark being a sun makes it even more so.

In my honest opinion, I thought she was interesting when I first saw her in the scene where she steals Twilight's crown. I liked her character design and her voice was unique. But as the movie progressed, she gradually became more cheesy and cliche — more cliche than any other villain in the show. Especially when her evil plan was to unleash her army of teenage zombies into Equestria (come on, who says that!?). Her reformation was also cliche and poorly rushed. Way too convenient, but of course the writers had to make everything come together for the happy ending

 

Overall I gave her character a C- in the first movie. Her pony design made up for a lot of her villainous cliches

 

But thankfully Rainbow Rocks completely turned her from an overly cliche villain to a real character with a genuine personality which we can relate to <3

I loved Shimmer before it was cool. Long before Rainbow Rocks, long before the original Equestria Girls was even set to come out(still in annoucements'), there was one fan who looked at a silhouette of a certain pony on a Hasbro site, and thought it nice. After learning about her background, (former student of Celestia, only to be rejected due to a bitter dispute, and now fated to return) I instantly thought this to be the best pony related thing to ever be concieved.  Because i'm all about potential, and Sunset Shimmer screamed positive potential at me like Zeus shouting through a megaphone. 

 

Seriously, what an amazing character, just...

Same here. Rarity has been my favorite since I started watching MLP but since I've been posting here I think it's safe to say that Sunset has now taken possession of best pony alone hooves down.. she's still best of the mane 6 though..
