This is why Apple is loosing the smart phone market faster than CDs are losing the music market.

Android is cheaper, has more options, tends to come on better hardware for the money and isn't locked down tighter than Alcatraz.

They don't appear to be doing too badly.

I recently purchased an unlocked Note 4 for the following reasons:

A) Removable storage

B) Removable battery

C) Unlocked, off-contract from a retailer selling approx. $200 below retail

I was comparing both the 6 Plus and the N4, which won out for the above reasons. However the reason I wanted a removable battery was in case the stock battery wouldn't cut it, like the pathetic slab that came with my S4. So I'd have an option to throw in an extended battery, if I were to need it. My experiences with iPhones in the past have been generally favorable with regards to their power management, so a removable battery wouldn't be as big a concern. There are Android phones with sealed batteries and no external storage as well, the Nexus 6 and the new S6, to name two.

Removable storage is also very nice, but to be honest my usage hasn't exceeded ~30 GB so it wouldn't be a deal breaker.

Then there's the price. $200 below than retail sweetened the deal.

As for 3c phones, consider how much more you'd be paying over the course of that contract term versus buying the phone outright. With the installment plans now available if you aren't able to front the full cost of the phone, the contract plans make zero sense, "3c" phone or not.

So I don't come off as some sort of Apple apologist, I own a Galaxy Tab S and an S4 currently. But I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the iPad as the best tablet hands down for the sheer number of apps, ease of use, and general polished feel of the user experience.

Apple has never been good. They've never invented anything, they've never even done anything innovative either.

Honestly looking forward to switching to Android later on. Windows Phone is nice and all, but the closed ecosystem and Microsoft's direction are just turning me off from it.

Gonna be getting the galaxy s4 soon hopefully. It's $300 for tmobile prepaid, and it's the cheapest it's ever been. My current phone is slow, has low storage, and the camera is a terrible 5MP and the screen is only 540p.

The iPhone 6 has a dual core CPU and an 8 MP camera, and a screen res of 720p. You know what else has those specs? The galaxy s3. That's a phone from 2012.

A dual core CPU? That's like saying that an 8350 is superior to a 5820k because it has more cores and is clocked about the same. I hate apple about as much as the next guy, but the 'less cores and ghz means less performance' argument is BS.

I've heard that the iPhone has pretty good performance despite the specs, yeah. They're still overpriced pieces of garbage, at least in my opinion.

So, anyway, let's get back on topic, shall we?

I'm trying out a different cable run for my 760.

If I could get the two PCI cables tied together so one wouldn't look like it's sagging that'd be really great. A dedicated six-pin cable instead of a 6+2 one would be nice too.

Allow me to introduce you guys to the worst computer ever made, the new Macbook. Very thin, very light, next to no I/O. Because, y'know, a computer doesn't need I/O right?

Starting price: $2500. And an additional $80 for the adapter.

sorry I couldn't resist

OT the new Silverstone HTPC/Console-sized cases are looking really good. They're like the RVZ01 and ML07 but more refined and even more space efficient.

Mini ITX, I think.

I may build in one of these to create a portable but powerful gaming rig. They look really good.

Mini-ITX, yes. One of their cases, the RVZ01B, seems to be the most popular Steam Machine case.

What exactly can you fit in a mini ITX?

A mini-ITX mobo and, depending on clearance, a full-size or specialized ITX GPU. Expansion is typically limited in the cases, although the Ncase M1's expansion options actually seem pretty decent for a mITX case.

Well 16gb of RAM is the norm for Mini ITX, plus one graphics card and some smaller CPU coolers for gaming-oriented Mini ITX cases.

I had to downgrade a bit due to some unforseen bills (cough cough fucking airline ticket price went up) so the build I have paid for and will have set up in 2 days time will be as follows.

ASUS S1150 ATX Z97- A Motherboard

Intel i7 4790k 4.00Ghz Quad Core CPU

Gigabyte GTX 970 GPU

8GB (2x4gb) Corsair RAM

120GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD

1TB WD Caviar Blue HDD

750 WATT Corsair power supply

Corsair ATX c70 Vegeance Mid Tower

24"LG IPS Monitor

Corsair K70 Keyboard

Logitech G402 Mouse

Oh and Windows 8.1. I'll be upping my RAM to 16GB and getting another SSD when I get money next. As well as another monitor.

Just a question, do you need the I7 for multiple app stuff like video editing and art stuff?

Nope, just gaming at this stage. However I'll be slowly upgrading various parts so that Im able to work on video game design since thats what I do at uni. More RAM will be the first thing I aquire.

Thanks, Im definitely not complaining about it, just glad I can finally move off my laptop.

Moving off a laptop onto a custom desktop is the best feeling ever.

Anyway, I feel like overclocking my 4690K now. How long should I stress test my PC to make sure that the clocks are stable? 3 - 5 hours?

I've been waiting intently for Cities Skylines, which has been hyped to be the game that SimCity 2013 should have been. Well it released today, and it looks incredible.

So launching the game on my computer for the first time only to have it not launch really, really sucks.

I really need to upgrade from this peasant-grade laptop with integrated graphics to a proper gaming rig.

I'm just so gutted right now.
