Never understood why PC gamers give Console gamers such a bad time. We are all gamers. My reason for prefering consoles is they are simply easier to use. With a PC game you need to know if it has the correct graphics card, the correct RAM, etc. With consoles, if it says it will work on the console, it will work on it. Some of us just wanna put the disc in, pick up a controller, sit in a comfortable chair or couch or whatever, and start playing. Sure, its not as powerful as a PC, but they are reliable. And at the end of the day, isnt all that matter is that you are having fun?

Not all PC gamers give console gamers a bad time, just the fanboys.  Also just so you know, a lot of PC gamers say "PC Master Race!" jokingly.

There honestly should be more console gamers like this. Not mad that they're losing an exclusive, but rather glad that more people get to enjoy it too.

We don't mind if you prefer consoles, just some console gamers act like there's nothing wrong with consoles nowadays, and the simplicity of consoles, basically, pop in a game, turn on the console and play, now, with the PS4 and Xbone, you have to do constant system updates, if you want to play a game, 90% of the time, you have to install it before you can play it at all, and if you don't have an internet connection, you're basically screwed, god help if you have a game that requires online play, publishers are shoving on-disc DLC and drm *cough*EA*cough* If you want the full experience, pay an extra $30(looking at you, Destiny :okiedokielokie: ) and is stuff you can do on a PC or TV really necessary? I don't think so, consoles are supposed to be simple, no gimmicks, just plug and play, and that's all but gone now. If you stick with old consoles, like PS2/GC/Xbox because you don't like the new consoles, props to you.

Those are just my thoughts. We're not bashing old consoles, just the current ones, and to an extent, the 360/PS3.

While the newer consoles have you install and update, you still KNOW they will work on the console. You dont have that guarantee with PCs. Plus DRM is a LOT worse on PC. And with consoles, when you physically buy a game, you can return it any time you want. With PC games, even if you bought the disc, you cant return it. So you cant like rent a game for PC and return it if you find you dont like it. I might be a PC gamer if more games had "limited trials" which allowed you to test the game to see how it plays and see if it works on your PC BEFORE you buy it.

Allow me to point out that the Hardware Abstraction Layer is a thing, and basically what that means is that the operating system (and by extension, games) do not care about what's so different between, say, a Core i5-4690K and an FX-8350, or a GTX 480 and an R9 290X. For all intents and purposes, to software, my hardware is the same as any other PC out there, even though there clearly are differences. Not knowing if a game will work or not is, for the most part, a thing of the past.

Actually he's a brother by the rules. He accepts that PC is the master race and therefore he is one of us.

You don't know much about PC gaming, do you? DRM is not worse on PC, for one thing, it's been a part of PCs for a long time. For consoles, it's new and not as...polished? And no, it's not guaranteed a game will work on the new consoles, like I said, you need internet for installing, and if you don't, it likely won't work without installing it. I don't want to wait 30 minutes for a game to install, I just want to play it. Some things about PC gaming, too, most of us research a game before buying it, for one thing, if it'll run on our PCs, and if it's any good. And some games do have limited trials.

By the way, this thread is for PC discussion, not bashing consoles or PCs.

Well they're not calling him a "peasant" so there's that.

To me, there's a clear distinction between these so-called "peasants" and regular console gamers. "Peasants" are the people who regularly indulge in console elitism and wars, flinging petty insults at the other side because they think that's how you win at something or because their brand loyalty to a specific platform is so strong they are practically blinded by this loyalty and refuse to see the positives of any other platform, just the negatives, while regular console gamers are just people who want to play games and have fun while doing so, don't really care about the whole console wars even (maybe even own multiple platforms) and unfortunately get lumped in with the "peasants" even though they kinda just sit in the sidelines of it all. At least, that's how I view it.

Except when they don't and brick your ability to sleep (PS4). They're computers too and aren't immune to bugs. That said, they're still easier to use and work with, but you pay a premium for that. Games, online subscriptions, proprietary hardware support (i.e. fight sticks that only work on XBOX ONE, for example).

Origin has "limited trials" for some games and even allows you to return a game within 24 hours (digitally) if you don't like it.

But I usually pick up all my games on sale for five or ten dollars anyway, so it's not that big of a deal if it turns out to be crap or I don't ever touch it. Granted, it's not like buying a physical disc you can resell, so if that's important to you, more power to you, keep doing it. But all the things you talk about are also characteristic of the digital marketplaces for consoles -- but they rarely, if ever have the kinds of sales that PC digital games do simply because those stores have no competition.

For the record, I own a bunch of consoles and buy a mix of digital and physical copies -- though I've been moving toward digital since I don't have room for cases and the like.

This is pretty much what I was going for. I just couldn't find the words for it :P

I wasnt trying to bash PCs. I think they are good. I just dont have the money for them. And lots of the games I like are console exclusive. Plus you ARE gonna be downloading updates for PC games as well. And most games on consoles have no DRM. Yes, you would probably need internet, but you need internet to play Steam as well. Im not bashing PC. I just like consoles. I wish they would eventually make a "family" gaming PC that allowed split screen and stuff

Ya know, the console gamer posting in this thread right now seems like an example of a normal console user. Someone who wants to play games and have fun doing so.

Come on in, take a seat and have a chat with us.

I know all of that, I'm just saying that the edge consoles had over PCs is gone now, and that upsets me. As Lunatic said, consoles are basically low end gaming PCs. It'll take some time for them to get some stuff right, but that's a while off.

If you have the money for a current generation console and the required accessories to make it useful (games, online services), you have the money for a decent PC. We're all more than happy to help if you decide to move in that direction in the future. smile.png

If you don't want to build a PC yourself you could always find someone in your area to build it for you, typically for a small-ish fee. I'd highly recommend building it yourself though, there truly is no greater feeling than watching that PC you put together boot up for the first time.

Anyway, slightly unrelated but still relating to PC, I wish steam would allow you to disable achievements. I prefer the days where you could just play the game, where you could do the tasks optionally without being pressured into them by an achievment list. I know, sounds stupid. But all it would be is an option you would check off to be able to opt out of earning achievements. Where you can just play the game.

Anyway, here are the PC games i own (in alphabetical order) :

Katawa Shoujo

Half Life Source

Halo Custom Edition

Halo Spartan Assault

Universe At War

I use a Windows 8 Laptop.
