I'd have originally thought that too, but the 980ti is almost Titan X performance for about $350 less. Its a card in my price range that could end up lasting me much longer then my current 970.

You'd only have to wait until mid-June if you wanted to see how the new AMD 300 series cards perform.

Personally I'd wait until then before you buy but ultimately it's your decision.

Having the "latest and greatest graphics card" seems pretty pointless imo.  As Jay from Jayztwocents put it, "this is a Titan X.  This is a want.  You do not need a Titan X in order to have a fantastic gaming experience."

Heck, the 270x is still a great card for 1080p gaming and that came out a while ago.

I tend to avoid AMD cards. Nothing against them as a company, I just prefer Nvidia. The 970 is a fantastic card straight up, Id just like to get my PC to a point where I feel I'll be fine without an upgrade for the next 2-3 years.

Yeah, I get that.  And from what I've heard AMD driver support is pretty lackluster.

I probably won't need to upgrade for the next 2-3 years, but you never know.  Who knows what with how quickly technology's advancing nowadays.

Im also in a game development course at university at the moment so having a somewhat decent PC is always a plus. Dealing with things like Unreal 4 on a sub par laptop was one of the worst experiences I've had in PC game development. At the moment I only need/want a new GPU and another 8gb of RAM.

The Titan X is now basically an e-peen card.

When hasn't the Titan X been an e-peen card? :P

I plan to grab a 970 when i get around to upgrading.

Everyone shit on Skyrim, but it least it didn't have poorly implemented level-scaling that spikes the difficulty to the point of breaking the game about 30 hours in unless you level-up off nothing but pure combat kills like a certain other TES game.

It also had archery that was actually useful instead of a novelty, unlike said other game.

Can some one tell me why this cpu is so expensive  HP 781913-B21, or is it because  this is a whole sever?

Because server CPUs are typically expensive like that.

U mean Battlespire?

I don't care about having a maxed PC or anything. If I can get 1080/60, there is no reason to upgrade.

I don't know how much longer it'll be relevant, but the R9 280X/HD 7950 and its pretty generous 3GB framebuffer seems like a pretty good bet for 1080p/60FPS gaming for a few years.

No, Oblivion.

Pretty much everything outside of the graphics and the basic gameplay mechanics (moving, fighting, ect) was a trainwreck.

*Convoluted currency system that used THREE denominations.

*A God-awful "repair" system that relied on consumable and limited items (hammers) and didn't work on enchanted gear

*Soul Gems so rare it made enchanted weapons useless

*Enchanting system that required a rare and hard to gather item from the Oblivion gates

*Useless potion crafting

*The aforementioned nightmare of a level-scaling system

*Tons of grinding if you want to make any skills outside of basic combat useful

* Symbol-based item information (ie: price, weight, stats) that your damned without having the manual to tell you what symbol stands for what

The Battlespire thing was a joke. I knew from the leveling that you were talking Oblivion

1. No idea what you're talking about

2. You're absolutely awful at it unless you have it as a primary skill, and once you're at 50 or so you can do enchanted items

3. Not really for me

4. Not if you joined the Mages Guild

5. Good if you want to get quick level-ups, but gathering ingredients is a pain in the ass. Also good for gold farming

6. Yup

7. Later on this becomes a minor issue

8. Not a problem for me

It seems as if you're looking at it from the perspective of one character.

Yes, because when you've poured 40 freakin' hours before it decides to break (mainly the level scaling, hello lowly skeleton that takes me 20 minutes of dodge and counter to kill) you kind of go "nope, I'm done with this bullshit and we're moving on to something that isn't about to cost me a TV and a gamepad"

If I ever play again, I'm modding the shit out of it to fix all that.

I never knew you do anything with the repair but remove the use for hammers at 100 (something I read online), because I'll be damned if I could actually get any kind of serious points into it no matter much random junk I repaired just to grind.

Also, I just found out that I won't be able to get a Windows key for my new PC. Now I'm unsure what to do for my OS..
