spike after rarity

Recommended Posts

everypony knows about this pairing, I personally love them, but I been wondering this...

dragons lives for a looooooooooooooong time, unfortunaly the same cannot be said for ponies.

So if what do you think would happen to spike after rarity´s time?

should he stay forever loyal to her?

look for a new love?

Will he be forever depressed?

should twilight and the others help him before it is too late?

That just made me so sad just now thinking about that. I'm just imagining him laying down on a curb being sad like Seymore in that Futurama episode. :(

I think RarityXSpike is cute, but I hope Spike finds himself a nice dragon one day. One he finds as pretty as Rarity of course, but there HAS to be another dragon out there just as passive and sweet as he is.

This is why I don't prefer to ship them (aside from the whole inter-species issue). By the time Spike would reach the same level of maturity as Rarity she likely will be quite aged. Because he is just a baby dragon I imagine this is just a puppy love crush he has on her and he'll get over it within time. He likely will always hold a special fondness for her given how they seemed to have bonded in the past season, but I easily see it sliding further away from that 'love' mindset.

There is actually something (EDIT: I think it was a picture or series of pictures) that talks about this, an adult spike reminiscing with a younger generation of ponies about the mane six...

Anypony else heard of this and can give us a link?

After Rarity passes away, she will no longer be there to remind Spike of how kind and generous he is. He falls victim to his own dragon instincts. Spike will hoard and he will grow again into his feral dragon form and leave Ponyville to live a life of solitude like other dragons greedily guarding a treasure hoard of jewels and gems for the rest of his life.

Once every generation, he will join the dragon migration to mate with female dragons and at the end of each migration, he will return to his solitary life. He will have many dragon children who he will never know and he will have many dragon mates in his life time who will never love him back like Rarity did because dragons are not like ponies. Add this to the fact that Spike doesn't know his origin, where he came from and who his parents were.

Spike is a very tragic character. This is why I hope one day he wins Rarity's heart so he will feel happines even just for a little bit in his life time... Spike deserves a happy ending with Rarity...

Of course in a world where magic is the norm, deus ex machina is god. Anything could happen. Spike could do a Dragonheart/Drakengard with Rarity or he might just get transformed into a pony by some form of enchantment. Its not really as sad as it looks if you think about it this way.

Did you get all of this from Dragon Quest? I must not have been paying enough attention...

EDIT: and Spike isn't like other dragons anyways, he has some kind of special connection to Princess Celestia (dragon-breath mail communication). Maybe that's just a spell? Is that fair to Spike?

Nah, I made it up. It just seemed like it made sense. Dragons are portrayed as solitary creatures in the series. Some animals migrate for the purpose of mating (usually the males and females migrate separately from each other and in DQ, there were only male dragons probably waiting for the females to arrive), Reptiles (I think), after hatching from their eggs are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. It would make sense that dragons aren't family oriented like ponies are. Which is sad for Spike because the ponies raised him to be social and friendly.

I dunno about his dragon breath teleporting scrolls. Nothing says on the show that the other dragons can't do that either or a variation of it because Garble wasn't surprised about the letter that Spike got during the belching contest.

That mating thing must be just about right. It makes perfect sense with the solitary lifestile. After all dragons are greedy and they hate anyone who tries coming near their stuff, including other dragons. That makes Spike story sooo much sad. Yet still, all we know is that dragons grow when they manage to get stuff, maybe if he never owns anything he will remain small? I believe that was the purpose of the episode anyways.

Well you may have made it up but it does make a lot of intuitive sense... You have some very well thought out points. The fact that none of the dragons really questioned the fact that a letter came out when spike belched/breathed fire is also a very good point. I hope we get another Spike focused episode at some point. Dragon Quest did address some things, but there are still so many questions left unanswered...

Do we assume that Spike maturing will make him proportionately greedy/dragonlike, and if he doesn't become greedy he will remain unmatured? (EDIT: If dragon age is proportional to greed and spike could completely mature over the course of a day, why would there ever be teenage dragons?) Is it safe to assume that dragons live longer than ponies (there is a canonical reference to dragons being able to sleep for 100 years at a time, but I don't recall any numbers referencing how long ponies live)? Is there any chance that spike is an atypical dragon or not a dragon at all? If ponies are too afraid of dragons to learn anything about them, why would Twilight receive a baby dragon as a filly? It seems like Princess Celestia would know the answers to all of these questions, but she hasn't exactly been straightforward with her favorite student in the past (the sickly phoenix).

We must remember that spike had a crush in the first episode when he was in Canterlot. Rarity soon replaced her.

You are refering to Moon Dancer? There was no evidence that Spike had a crush on Moon Dancer but there was a mention that Moon Dancer was having a party at the time. Twilight was invited but she rudely refused. Its assumed that Spike was merely going to the party with a gift for Moon Dancer because it was her party.

I see that I was mistaken. Thank you for correcting me. In this case we can assume a truer love. I hope that he can learn to live with his massive lifespan as The Doctor in "Doctor Who" has.

It's a cartoon.... I don't think the show will ever talk about spike getting too old for rarity. :o
