Do you focus your senses or let them drift?

Do you pay attention to everything at once and do something else at the same time or do you focus your whole on doing the thing.

Personally I pay attention to everything, although that is after years of listening while reading for people approaching so I would have forewarning and able to get away. Stuff like that.

Its just a thing with me now, I hear everything.

So what about you? Do you talk to a person and exclude everything else, or would you point out the bird behind them that is flying into the wind, making it hover in midair, or the person that has just come down the stairwell to your bottom right (behind you and kinda diagonally towards right).

As an ENFP, I am constantly scanning the environment and looking out for stuff to happen (and overreact to :v)

So yeah, I let them drift. Unless it's something I need to focus hard on (like a game of Starcraft)

Hello everyone

I generally always try to pay attention to everything around me, ESPECIALLY when I am in public, it's just a good trait to have in general and I think that a lot of robberies could be stopped if people just were more aware of their surroundings.

Despite how easily distracted of a person I am, depending on what I'm doing I'm able to focus myself.

A bird flying over someone's shoulder wouldn't be enough to make me drift, but something more interesting certainly would!

I can just imagine being mid conversation just saying "Hey, look at that bird"

I'm pretty sure I'd get annihilated for not even listening.

Like most people I do both but of course I would naturally do one more that the other.

I guess I let them drift since I never really concentrate on much, usually just get whatever needs to be done as it comes to me, never really needing to focus them.

Depends on the situation really. I've a mind capable of breaking off my attention towards several directions in a quick succession, but when i get behind a task i have to stay focused. It's like a whiplash across the back of my mind, i focus everything i have on my one, single task and dim out everything else. That's what helps me focus. I literally blot out everything and go into tunnel dogfight mode.

I always focus on the task at hand and I do not let any of my senses drift. This results in me not paying attention to my surroundings and walking into closed doors and other people because I am doing something mentally (like thinking, lol) is very common.

I am a multitasker through and through. I am always focused on something, but there are countless other things I am working on in my head at the same time.

Like right now, typing this, I am thinking about the time, and how in a half hour, I need to clock in and do some work before class, hoping to squeeze in some study time for a quiz today. Before I clock in however, I need to go out to my truck, grab my bento and books, and lock it up. I am also thinking of after this post I need to make an online payment to the electric company. And I am also thinking about Somas Girl Scout Cookie Breyer's ice cream, because the last post I made involved "what would you last meal be on death row" and that was all I could think of, because right now that is my current favourite food, and thus I desire to eat some. I am also thinking about a final welding project I am working on and wondering if I should set up my booth so I can weld today, or else if I don't, someone will take my spot and there will be no place to weld. I am also worried about my phone, it has 1 battery bar left and turned it off, but now I am feeling anxiety because I want to be able to text my husband....

Yeah...there is A LOT going on my mind all at once, and I now I am thinking about how strange it is to self analyze my own thoughts as I am thinking about this topic in which I am posting in....

So much drifting. I should change my name to Drift Wolf, but I like my name :).

I'm easily distracted, especially when in class or doing homework. It's good to be able to keep an eye on multiple things at once though, if that's what you want to call it.

I get distracted pretty easily when I try to focus but it depends on the situation. If I am watching something or playing a game and getting really engrossed in it, then I put my senses into that experience. If I am trying to relax or if I am listening to music or perhaps a white noise of some kind, then I just let my senses do as they please, they kinda just do as they please anyways most of the time, unless I am really absorbed in something. :P
