Should there be a FiM movie? (No EG)

I've been wondering, should there be an MLP movie 100% focused in FiM's Equestria's pony world and not Equestria girls' human world?

 

Which would be a good plot?

Honestly, if they have something that would work for a movie (and be good) then I have no issue with it.

 

This is why I didn't mind Toy Story having 2 sequels. They didn't try to make another plot, they just had more stories to tell (this is also why i dislike Cars 2.)

If they can make a story that could last for a feature length film, I think it would be great. They just have to make sure it has good pacing and isn't too fast or too slow since it'll be 3-4 episodes long. Then again, I don't think it'll end up slow because even EQ2 moves pretty quickly.

Absolutely!  To be honest, I don't even care if it's crap at this point.  The EG movie was horrendous, and I've only heard one thing about #2 that makes me curious (other than it being part of the franchise).

 

As for plots, perhaps the return of Sombra could make for a good movie, especially if he says and does more.  I want to see him as a villain, not a background pony, and a full-length movie could be just the ticket.

I think it should be the final wrap up to the series. Have Star Swirl return as an anti hero that opposes the mane 6, and really use the movie to resolve any remaining plot threads that exist in the FiM continuity. Pull out all the stops, and as much background pandering as possible and really just put a bad ass end cap onto the FiM saga. Having someone as powerful, and as renown in show lore as Star Swirl be the opposing force to the mane 6, while not being flat out evil would really go to show the emotional maturity of the show and allow for Twilight to really show just how powerful friendship can be.

The season finales make me feel like im watching a movie all together. But if they want to make a movie with just ponies, I would want that. I don't like Equestria Girls nor Rainbow Rocks. It also makes me happy to know that I do not have to watch those movies to keep up with the storyline.

 

But with all of this, I think a good time for a movie would be at the end of the entire series, and they could make it like and hour and a half long.

 

Just my opinion though, I would love this.

It could be about the Griffon Empire ending their peace treaty with Equestria and start going to war with them. The Mane 6 would have to put a stop to it all.

I think it would be pretty awesome and I think they could really flesh out a character villain they want to and possibly bring them in as a recurring character. I think it could also have a marketing scheme from that perspective (since it's important for Hasbro to do if they are going to spend the money) by bringing other ponies that could become toys I guess or other merchandising.

 

All in all though I think for it to do well and be produced it would have to veer off from the plot currently happening in the series and provide it's stand alone canon working off the current events of the series. An example of this is the beginning of EG1 where they build on Twilight becoming an alicorn, but don't necessarily put it in the same vein as the series.

Certainly could be possible. There's plenty of world to explore in Equestria; I wouldn't doubt that they could come up with something to fill in that 90 min-2 hour timeslot, not to mention they've had episodes in the past that might've benefited from their plot being expanded (for instance, Magical Mystery Cure).

 

My only issue is that Equestria Girls was written by the same team, so I'd hope that the length of the film wouldn't deter them and make them try to stick by the book or use a typical formula (like Equestria Girls) only to completely drop the ball near the end of it and lose us (like, again, Equestria Girls). They'll need an idea that is concrete and fits that timeslot without it becoming dragged on or lazed out. In other words, I would prefer if the film was in production for as long as...well, other actual films are, instead of rushed out like Equestria Girls likely was.

   I love both Equestria Girls films, but it would be nice to see the ponies staring themselves, just like the muppets staring as themselves after twenty years of playing characters. I do worry what bronies are suggesting a pony films should be, I have heard of political uprising, civil strife and bloody war, almost like a My Little Pony version of The Hunger Games, it would behove us to be cautious about what we suggest the writers to create a FiM movie with the ponies. Keep in mind the creators are human, not machines, you can not expect the film to appeal to your ego 20% of the time, for My Little Pony has a broad audience, not intended for critical nitpickers, also keep in mind the hard work and dedication DHX does for the normal series, movie making requires a different mindset and goals from TV, so try to respect the cast and crew, if you have ever worked on a major project, surely you would understand and appreciate, if people would just leave you alone to complete your work.

I think it would make a good finale to the series, my idea for the plot would involve Tirek learning a time spell and then goes back in time to form an alliance between all the villains in the series and then they try to erase all of the mane six's victories and then the mane six have to fix time.

How about an MLP Stealth game instead with an overly complex plot like Metal Gear Solid? Then you could link the videos together and make a movie. In another case, and you will probably hate me for this. How about a Michael Bay Pony film where Tirek returns and uses explosives and a 90 minute battle between him and his explosive minions occur.

I think that if Hasbro decided to do an MLP movie, they would probably do as other companies have done before by just putting the series story in a movie. You know, an amount of clips from the episodes to make a movie out of it.
But if they decided to do a movie about Equestria but without clips from the series then they could work something out. They are good at what they do, I'm not good at thinking of plots xD

 

Actually, it would be cool (imo) if they did a movie about the Equestria Past. Like how Discord ruled, a bit more about Nightmare Moon and Starswirl the Bearded. Celestia and Luna's parents, how they became princesses and stuff. I would really like that.

It definitely should and must happen if there is the proper story for it, and there has to be a nice gimmick so that Hasbro could see it as commercially viable (this show is supposed to be a toy commercial first and foremost after all).

 

I would gladly subscribe to the idea of the series ending on a movie. However, due to budgetary and marketing constraints this is looking like a longshot right now. I'm not giving up hope, but I'm not holding my breath either.
