movies/tv Would you read a comedy that makes fun of cliches in RPGs, manga, movies, etc?

I've had this idea for a long time, and even have the first few chapters written out (on paper, unfortunately). It follows some generic characters on a generic quest that they were chosen for by some generic celestial forces, to find some generic objects of power to stop a generic villain from achieving a generic goal.

The mainest main character is one of the heroes, and the only character (so far) who realizes how silly and cliche his world is. Most of the jokes poke fun at JRPG cliches, but there are plenty of jokes based on cliches from other things, and a few of my own (such as a family of warriors called the -ightHawk clan, who all change their names to different homophones following major changes in their lives. for example, NightHawk changes his name to KnightHawk, and is very adamant about the spelling.)

Anyway, I'm in two minds. I like writing comedy, but I don't like writing, if that makes sense (it probably doesn't). If I started writing it, would you people read it? That's been the main thing with my writers block, I never feel like it was worth it because so few people read it.

Of course, after all I do enjoy a good laugh once in a while. Yes, the premise is quite promising.

I would, but reading's for eggheads.

Why didn't you learn your lesson from Read It and Weep?

That lesson was intended for Rainbow Dash. I was under no obligation to abide by said lesson.

But in all seriousness, yeah, I would totally read a story about that.

It would depend if it was done well and was funny and was accurate, I've seen similar things and they are done wrong, they are inaccurate and they aren't funny.

Do yourself a favor and look up Mogworld by Yahtzee Croshaw!

One of my favorite books ever! It makes fun of RPGs, MMOs, Fantasy Cliches, and has a very interesting plot!

Synopsis: Its a book about Jim, a newly resurrected undead minion. Jim is resurrected into a strange future where no body can die, they just respawn in a church with a new body (except undead minions like Jim who resurrected in the same body.

Jim not liking being woken up from death tries to commit suicide which of course doesn't work. So he goes on an epic quest along with an enthusiastic female zombie friend Meryl and preaching undead priest who believes he's always on some noble quest made by THE LORD, Thaddeus! The trio all have different goals, but Jim's goal is to find a way to lay down and die for good, or will he be an unlikely hero?

Seeing that I love Mogworld and your story seems to be similar I would be VERY interested in your story!

I also thought of making my own in similar fashion eventually! :P
