The student Eet Huus'son was escorted into the school by two Republic City Police officers. He was wearing new clothes that were quite nice, the government had deemed his old clothes inadequate for the school; so they had bought him a whole new wardrobe, he had thought it was cool at first now he just felt foolish and like it made him stick out more. The two police officers carried his suitcases of new clothes and few meager possessions, Eet carried a pot with what looked like a small bark covered potato in it. It was his prized possession and now he realized how strange it probably made him look, plus the fact the police wouldn't leave him alone like they thought he was about to run off the first chance he got. Even if he did run where would he go? It's not like he knew anything outside the Foggy Swamp.

Mostly as the officers escorted him to his dorm Eet just wanted to disappear, he was so embarrassed. How could he even look any of these other students in the face after entering the school like this? What would they think of him?!

The officers finally opened his dorm's doors ushering him inside, they read a small form of rules to him and an oath to complete the classes to the best of his abilities and not to run away... under punishment of incarceration or death. Eet repeated the oath and signed the form. The police turned on their heels and were gone. He let out a huge sigh and slumped into a chair, his head banging against the wall; this was by far the worst day of his life.

Professor Kitska stood within the entrance to dorm 9 tapping her foot and looking at her watch, the students were supposed to be on their way to setup their dorm rooms. Certainly her student were lazying about taking their sweet time to arrive, she imagined the other dorms were already filling up; she'd have to give this students a lecture on punctuality and proper behavior. She would not have her dorm be the worst or laughing stock of the school, she would whip her students into shape right quick. She unfurled the scroll with the students names on it, Vi Heffer waterbender, Sha Jiang earthbender, Rabten airbender... They even sounded like a bunch of troublemakers, then again most student names seemed to sound like troublemakers; funny how it worked like that. Kitska looked at her watch again and resumed tapping her foot.

Chocolate brown eyes stared up at The Bending School through the grimy window of a rental car as it pulled into the parking lot. A small, thin girl stepped out, carefully taking her bags out after her. A woman that resembled the brown-haired girl got out and beamed at her.
"Aonani, I'm so excited for you!" the former said, pulling the latter into a hug. The girl smiled and returned the hug. When they stepped apart again, the girl fixed her name tag - the tag read "Aonani Kiyo"; it made introductions a lot easier - and made motions with her hands, signing to the woman that she was excited. After a few more exchanged words and gestures between the two, they hugged again. Just before the woman left, Aonani waved and signed, [Love you, Mom.]

After the car drove away, Aonani turned and started walking towards the school, dragging her luggage behind her. Once inside, she looked around and pulled a map out of her pocket. She had been told beforehand what dorm room she would be in and how to get there, so as to avoid awkward interactions with the receptionist. Following the map, she set off for her dorm.
It didn't take her long to find it. Once she was there, standing outside the dorm room, she took a moment to breathe. She knew without being told that she would have at least one roommate, considering how many students she had seen inside.

She knocked on the door once before entering, and opened the door slowly. What she saw inside surprised her. There was a boy in the room! She had expected a roommate, yes, but not a male one. Her face immediately went pink and she fumbled with her map, wishing she had the ability to say, "Sorry, I must have the wrong room!"

Kitska gave the principle a small bow, she always felt it was necessary to afford fellow teacher and staff a proper greeting and respect, her tone was still clip and sharp however, "Principle Tun, good to see you today sir. I felt it was rather crucial that I be her to greet my students when they arrive. The staff dorms are F1-F10 as the student dorms are 1-10 we are having a teacher assigned to oversee each unit and the students aren't we? I was under the impression a teacher acting as the head of each dorm would keep the student in line while helping to create a sort of team competitiveness between the dorms. If we are going to do something of the sort I want to have my students whipped into shape as soon as possible."

She smirked and the air around her seemed to chill, "I even have a slogan, 'dorm 9, top of the Line!'. They'll be the best of the best and I won't except any less, I'll tell them as much the moment they arrive." She looked anxiously at her watch again.

A teenage girl in a red, orange, and yellow outfit could be seen running as fast as she could, her red hair whipping behind her. On her face was a panicked grimace.
I can't believe I slept in on my first day. I hope I'm not too late, she thought, pushing her legs to go faster. She had just woken up a short time ago, and her mother had no car to drive her. She had no idea what time it was; for all she knew it could be well into class time. She hoped she would be lucky enough to get to her new school with just enough time to stop at her dorm before class.
As she reached the school, she slowed, but not enough to take in any potential scenery. She burst in the doors and, panting, approached the receptionist's desk. She didn't even register that a man was talking with the woman behind the counter.
"Uh... H-hi,," she gasped as she tried to catch her breath."I'm... I'm not too late, am I?"

With a steady pace, a bald and fairly old man walked through the hall of the school. Though he was walking quickly, he was not in a hurry. His hand behind his back, he gave a few polite nods to the new students arriving. Not bothering to go by the reception, he walked straight for the student dorms. He was familiar with the schools’ layout by now, and knew exactly where to go to meet the students he’d be watching over. He recalled quite a notorious figure being under them. A bloodbender, sent here to learn how to control his abilities. To him, it was only fascinating he’d get to teach such a peculiar and exceptional individual. The other was a water and earth bender. Earth was not exactly his area of expertise, but it would allow him to broaden the spectrum of his abilities even wider, so he was quite curious about her too.

When he got to the student dorms, he noticed principal Tun and presumably a different teacher talking in the hallway. Since it would still take quite a while before his students had arrived, he reckoned he might as well go and say hello. Walking up to the two of them by the door of dorm 9, he politely bowed to the both of them as a greeting.

"Greetings principal Tun. I'm quite glad I happen to find you here. I've got a few questions I wish to ask you..." He started, but then he turned to the waterbender next to him. "But first... Perhaps my memory is failing me, but believe we've not met yet." Again, he bowed in the traditional fashion, the palm of his on hand against his fist. "I am Xin Zi Chuan. A pleasure to meet you. I presume you will be teaching the students waterbending?" He said, assuming it from her clothing and hairstyle.

Eet had moved to the chair at a desk in the room, he had shifted his potted woody root to the desktop. No one had arrived in the dorm and he began to think maybe the school had decided to room him isolated and alone. It wasn't fair, he hadn't know there was a 'bad' type of bending; he'd only been follow instinct and had been branded a monster for it.

To relax he had started using plant bending on the sacred Banyan-Grove Tree shoot in the pot. The true Banyan-Grove Tree was what made up the entire swamp back home and the fact he had been given a shoot to care for showed his bond with the swamp as a future shaman. Now that future seemed unlikely, but manipulating the little plant calmed him and made him think of home.

He slowly coaxed it to put out little branches, using plant bending and healing to promote growth and strength. The branches soon formed a complex canopy and tiny leaves filled it out as a it took the recognizable form of a small replica of the original. He was just about to start encouraging it to produce tiny hanging fruit when he heard someone enter the room.

He jumped a little instantly stoping what he was doing and putting out his hands in front of it as if he could hide what he was doing. Turning he found himself staring into a pair of brilliant piercing blue eyes, a water tribe girl looking curiously at him; he blushed a bit embarrassed at his earlier response and lack of knowledge how to interact with people from outside the swamp... Should he behave any differently?

He stuttered a little, "oh... Umm, yeah sorry, I wasn't certain when others would... I mean, we're probably roommates and..." He sighed giving up and sticking out a hand stiffly, "My name's Eet, Eet Huus'son. Good to meet you Mizuko..." He was constantly darting his eyes to and away from her face trying to avoid staring into her eyes; best not to accidentally insult her, some nobles visiting Foggy Swamp were very strict about respect.
