MLP Forums trolling and spam.

I asked Feld0 4 days ago what the limit of April 1st stuff was.

This is his LEGIT answer:

"I'm open to doing pretty much anything, as a matter of fact."

If he is open to do ANYTHING, then I do not think he would mind if there was trolling threads for one day.

It's just one day, almost every site on the web is doing similar things.

This isn't the point. The point we are trying to make is that it is going a little too far. The first few were all right but now its out of hand.

The mods have shown disapproval at these spam topic by deleting them, so they aren't standing by at all this.

Pointless posts like this is what I'm talking about.

It's just one day, almost every site on the web is doing similar things.

I'm not complaining about the website, I'm complaining about the spam and trolls.

The staff is smart enough to assume that some wackiness was going to ensue by going through with all the Portal references and changing the board. For today I would tend to bet they don't mind. We'll clean up when it's 11:59 PM and we can help by going back and flagging the super spammy topics.

We can help by not posting them in the first place. I still agree with you about the report button though. :)

If you think this means breaking the rules is okay, then that is very badly misinterpreted. This means he is open to suggestions and not that he wants people to go nuts.

He was referring to the website. Not the trolling and spam

As far as I know

I understand that when you create the thread you may think it's funny. It may be funny, but this spam and trolling needs to stop. All of these pointless threads will be removed anyways, so why post them? I do not want to see any of you guys get banned for these either. These may seem funny because of the April Fool's day on the forums, but they will most likely be removed as they have no purpose.

Heres an example of a few:

-Art with no actual art, or poorly draw with a sense of sarcasm

-Hate against the brony community through sarcasm

-Literally threads with about two words in the OC

I guess I kind of understand where you're coming from, saying as much, but I think you're jumping at ghosts a bit. For one thing, this levity seems to be sanctioned by the administrative / moderation team in its entirety. Have you browsed at all on the default skin? Have you looked at Feld0's profile recently? If I had to guess, I'd say that the mods and whatnot are lucidly aware of what's going on and you shouldn't let your jimmies be rustled enough as to where you feel the need to make a bit of a PSA about it. Beyond this, if the team were to decide to ban people due to recent behavior - which, again, given the context, I doubt that would happen! - this thread would likely do little to nothing to prevent that fact.

I do feel that you should loosen up a bit. It's the nature of the holiday and things are under control, no matter how "chaotic" they might seem. No need to give a list of what's going on and what's being posted. I'm aware. You're aware. The moderation team is entirely aware. We're all online, we're not clueless and we're not above keeping control of our actions.

I mainly made this so that my fellow members do not get banned. If you continue to make these threads though, it could become a possibility. So please, for the sake of the Moderators, fellow members, Feld0, and yourself. Stop spamming/trolling.

As mentioned before, this thread will likely do nothing to prevent punitive actions being taken if, by some awry twist of fate, they are taken. It's not your job nor your position to tell people what to do or what not to do. If the moderators thought there was a problem, we're all sure that they'd be on it in seconds. They're entirely capable and do not need you to do their jobs in lieu of them. While I'm sure it's appreciated to some extent, try to read into the context of a situation more before making a thread like this, mm?

(Also, I would like to apologize to the MLP Forums team on behalf of us members)

Eh, do us - or, at the very least, me - a favor and try not to make statements on behalf of anyone else. We're autonomous enough and self aware enough to apologize of our own accord should we feel it's necessary.

Thanks.

First, I was not complaining about the site, I was complaining about the countless threads with no purpose. Actually, I was not really even complaining, I was requesting that members stop posting them. Also, I can tell you that the rules of the site do not change because of April Fools. This wasn't a "PSA", it was a request to stop the trolling and spam. Also, you said, "It's not your job nor your position to tell people what to do or what not to do." To an extent, yes. We do need to calm down and take a look at things to understand and realize that it is after all April fools, and that this was somewhat encouraged by the staff. However there is still a limit to doing things like this. We shouldn't be taking it as a post count chance and we don't need to be immature about this. Now i'm not saying that everyone participating in this is immature. Some people are just trying to have a little fun. However there have been many threads like this and i think its about time they slowed down a little bit. We shouldn't be making sarcastic threads that are of no importance at all. Besides, if we do they belong in places where the posts do not count, like cloudsdale.

Relax, we've got this.

Again, it was a request for members to stop spamming. If the site allows it, then please let me know.

I'm flagging them anyways. If a mod thinks it should not be taken care of until later thats fine. As long as they are gone tomorrow or within the next couple days really. I can tolerate them so long as i know they will all be gone later.

Am I the only one who noticed Jonke's post?

The mods don't seem to have a major quarrel with this issue, perhaps it is a minor annoyance to them but its Aprils Fools and I think they can accept how easily jokes can get out of hand. To be honest, I was in fact expecting the mods to come striding into the forum, all guns blazing and shoot down every single spam thread/spammer but they haven't.

They don't seem to have a large issue with this, so perhaps its best if we let it go. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone has those days, everyone knows what, what I'm talking about, evrybody gets that way...My childhood was all wrong.

The MLP Forums staff most certainly expects madness on this day, due to the fact that Feld0 is out of the picture and the great Mailmare is in his place. With all of this testing it's an easy assumption to make that there will be confusion and a bit of chaos. It's all for the greater good of science.

The staff will continue to do their duty and clean up after experiments gone awry, but for the remainder of the day there will be more testing, and we cannot just stop testing before it's officially time. That would be wrong. Think of all the ponies who are still alive... and could benefit from our science.

So go ahead, continue to experiment for the day. We'll clean up the test failures as the reports come in.

I never said you were complaining at any point so it does delight me - to no small extent! - to see that you've riddled out that dilemma for yourself as to whether or not you were actually complaining. Good show.

On that note, do consider how the way the site is set up right now, combined with the nature of the holiday, provides a foreground for the general ridiculousness of these threads in keeping with the mood of the holiday and of the site itself. Normally your argument would have a level of credence if it weren't for the fact that the moderating team is not only aware of the notion but is implicitly endorsing it within the confines of civil levity.

If things get out of hand, as I've said, I do not imagine that it would be too difficult for the team to pick up on this and put an end to the recent behavior. You aren't the arbiter of what the rules are; Feld0 and, transitively, the moderating team are. If there was a problem present, it's without a doubt that they'd be there to handle it in seconds. You need to loosen up a bit, is all.

Does that make sense at all? I'm currently dusting as I reply to you in bursts so I do apologize if I've left something unaddressed.

I don't see a problem with this. Every forum I'm on has an April Fools day event. Last year one claimed they were all Twilight now. Today it's themed with the show's characters taking over and wrecking it.

It's all in good fun.

I never said, or took the place of an "arbiter" of the rules. Again, it was just a request for the spam to stop. I actually only really made this topic so that in case they were to ban members for the spam, they wouldn't make them. I just didn't want to see anyone get banned. So I disagree with needing to "loosen up", I don't mind the posts, I didn't want anything bad to happen.
