Guess who listened to Daydream Nations for the millionth time? I really need to go out and listen to some new stuff when it comes to rock related music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr9q1x2fa3Q

Sometimes I just come in this thread and post Muse and leave.

Ew

Don't ever be caught talking shit about Crimson.

I wouldn't dare

tfw I haven't bothered trying out King Crimson yet

Violator's my favorite, but big Depeche Mode fans will probably disagree since it's when they got popular.

Twili lieks Depeche Mode? I'm quite surprised, anyways I'm a huge fan of Depeche Mode (Been listening to them for years by now) and I agree that Violator is their best, Playing The Angel might be my second favorite, but still trying to decide on that, have you checked out Delta Machine yet? I thought that it was alright, though not as good as I hoped it would be.

Also people, even though My Bloody Valentine are easily the best shoegaze band, there's more to shoegaze than them

M83 are Electronic Shoegaze, but they have their very occassional rock-ish moments

Ew (2)

Rush is progressive rock, right?

Lol that's like asking if The Sex Pistols are punk.

I love Daydream Nation, it's like really good and stuff.

And I'm also going to leave some Pavement on here.

I'm not born in the good era, except for MLP lol.

Music now>music then

like for reals though, disco sucks. I'm not really to fond of prog rock, except for Pink Floyd. Although I do enjoy quite a bit of prog metal, most of my CDs are prog metal.

Trust me when I say that every music thread dweller in this forum listens to prog rock, even if only a little
You're a liar. Hmmm kay.

I was listening to Swans earlier. I'm really starting to like them a lot and so far White Light from the Mouth of Infinity is my favorite album by them.

I like Swans Are Dead most out of all their albums

Their stuff sounds even more incredible when live

Have you checked out White Light's "twin" album yet

That shit's awesome and all, but my favorite Swans album is and always will be Public Castration is a good idea

After that, it kind of branches out. Filth, Soundtracks for the Blind and The Seer takes the second place

Anyways, gonna contribute to the experimental rock chain with some Scott Walker

>not posting the best Swans album

This recently took over Soundtracks for the Blind as my favorite Swans record. More songs go more places than on Soundtracks, and it incorporates even more influences.

I found out about Sunny Day Real Estate over a year ago, and I didn't bother listening to Diary until now. I feel so stupid, Diary is probably one of the greatest albums ever made.

I got through i'mperfect, and I loved every second of it. It's some kickass Post-Hardcore/Alternative Rock. The guitarplay is highly energetic and the entire album has a very emotional feeling to it

By the way, the band is called "Ling Tosite Sigure"

This is a serious contender for my AOTY :3

I randomly decided to listen to 21st Century Breakdown by Green Day today, which I haven't listened to in at least a couple years. I find maybe half the songs enjoyable, and the other half are just boring as hell to me. American Idiot is a much stronger album in my opinion.

These are my favorite songs probably:

Define: rock.

Are powerpop and pop punk defined as rock for the sake of this thread?

Because those are my favorite subgenres.

I'm not completely sure what powerpop is, but pop punk is definitely rock. Go ahead and post what you want, dude, it doesn't really matter. It doesn't have to be completely 100% rock either.

I'm not completely sure what powerpop is,

Weezer.

Funny that power pop should be brought up, since I listened to this today. Really great stuff. Shame it took so long to get appreciated, too.

I'm not completely sure what powerpop is

It's stuff like Weezer or Cheap Trick.

Anyways I'm going to post some ABBA, because ABBA is good pop music.

We need more Talking Heads here. I gave Remain in Light a re-listen. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it

The album cover is awful though :/

A while back I said something about alternative fading away and becoming pretentious boring acoustic hipster crap. Well Japandroids are an exception, Celebration Rock is a modern classic and I can't wait to see what hey come out with in the future These guys sound like Sonic Youth mixed with The Jesus and Mary Chain. It's noise rock but it's also kinda poppy.

Here's a song by a band called Greek Fire. They are AMAZING live. Even if you don't dig their music, you may give them a shot live because they perform so well, and engage with the audience so sincerely that it really is something to see.

Can anyone tell me what genre this is or at least what genre it most closely resembles?

That edgy but sorta thrashy guitar that takes up most of the song....awwwww yeah. Love that sort of stuff. Whatever it is, I want more of it.
