It's more fun to come up with ideas of our own though, the first five chapters in GPT are my training session, helps me with things like grammar, making paragraphs etc. And while I am not a professional writer, nor do I claim to be, I want my writing to be easier to read and not have errors in spelling which could distract anybody who decided to read it, the proper use of periods and sentences do matter.

I'm almost at the point where I can feel confident in pencil and paper this, I may not even bother with a pen, it depends. I've got a large notepad coming which will arrive tomorrow. I could've just use a notepad file to keep it all on my computer but the problem with that is what if my hard drive breaks? a hard copy version of my MLP fan fiction, with a disclaimer for Hasbro would be more reliable, at least that way if I practice at it, I could provide sketches, perhaps even use this to make my own OC's and environments added to MLP verse. Keep in mind though, to not infringe on IP I am not passing this off as official, it's purely entertainment with a hint of escapism perhaps, nothing else. The hardest part about this for me, other than time and effort, is to not make this story not overly grim or edgy, so it's keeping the tone of G4.

If I do illustrations of my own characters, I will do one to make an avatar for my profile here.

I already have some ideas I want to execute for OC's, so it's a matter of giving them an appearance to give people an idea what they would look like.

oh, yes! coming up with the ideas is one of the great bits of writing. I came up with these crazy ideas a few years ago and am only now proofing my first draft of the current story, and loving that too.

Cool, I've got some fun ideas I want to throw in this fan fiction. First before the Bardo arc of the story, there will be a prelude to it with a character, not my imaginary self character, a different one, that makes an honorable sacrifice to save alternate time Equestria from a corrupt spirit a long time before even the beginning of G4. I need to go carefully with writing that part in, though, and not be too graphic with the passing on of said character, but this character is important for the story, as he has significance in the Bardo later on. But the Bardo in this story, ensures no essence is truly lost forever, like energy, they change from one form to another. Dying still has a consequence in that a life form can never return to the life they had before, keeping stakes in the story and showing mistakes are not inconsequential.

Listening to Orbatron by Digital Monkeys on Media Monkey 5. I have the game Total Drivin on PS1, so making the CD rip was simple, some good old 90's techno are rare on certain PS1 games though, the only other medium that exists on is vinyl. I wasn't about to purchase a turntable for one song, so I did this instead.

When you finish work, if you'd like to tell me about it later abronymouse, I'd be interested to see what fanfics you wrote before, since you mentioned it in an earlier post.

if I do publish mine if I ever finish it, I am unsure which site to put it on, it's not going to win any contests mind you, although I'd understand if some people asked for participation. I doubt I'd ever be good enough for that. I'm not focusing on becoming the best at anything with this, however I am making an alternate universe storyline of MLP in my fanfic.

The question is, can I focus long enough to do it? I'm afraid of burnout, not just the scrap paper after mistakes made with illustrations. It has been a very long time since I drew anything,

last time I did it was at school many years ago.

I write mainly comedy, and inter-gen pony stuff. If you like mature stuff, I have some of that too (you need to enable that)

Nice, I am aware that Hasbro is lenient when it comes to fan fiction as long as it remains both non profit and respectful to their work, a fair way to handle this in my opinion too. I mean, think of the pool of natural talent they could benefit from if all IP owners gave fan fiction writers this safe space? potential candidates to work for IP owners later on.

I am going to write some comedy segments in mine, it will have both drama and comedy elements but they would occur at the right time in the story, I'll try not to make it seem forced if you know what I mean. Yes, it's a self insert story, but it is not focused on romance or anything like that. I want the story to be endearing, as well as focus on character development.

If I ever do finish this, I'd probably end up with 120 chapters or more. I'll take that advice and take it in steps, shelve the pencil and notepad when I need a break, then come back to it when the time is right.

I see IDW like that and TBH, the original G4, too. The long leash has benefitted the company (although it's in the doldrums now  ).

whoa! that is quite the story. It's not the longest on fimfic, though - there's stories on there of 1000 chaps, and a few stories over 1million words, too (bronies. are. crazy! ) 

And it is community members like us that are keeping the franchise alive. We support their works, we buy their merchandise be it licenced copies of their TV episodes, movies, or something else, some MLP fans buy plushies. I bought some officially licensed shirts with a picture of Princess Luna on them, one of them, also has a picture of Celestia standing beside her. But I do believe MLP fan fiction has its place, a legitimate one, that serves as free advertising for a company like Hasbro in this case, and it also creates fertile ground for creativity to be explored, making sure a franchise remain relevant for longer than it otherwise would have done. It's pro consumer, to support fan fiction, while also crediting original IP owners for their works IMO, this is why I like transformative works that create what if stories.
