SkyBound's Sketches

SkyBound

So, I thought I would share some of my sketches to see if anyone had any thoughts or opinions on them. I am always looking for critique on my work, good or bad. That is how we improve, right?

I only have one sketch at the moment, but I will be sure to add more soon! Sorry for the poor quality. I swear it looked better in my sketchbook...I had originally thought of making a small series of pictures based around this one, but I guess we will see what becomes of that.

Holy shoot!

Thats impressive to say the least! The detail and anatomy is perfect! You did an amazing job!

They look more like real horses then ponies. :)

That sketch is just at whole other level. The detail, the anatomy and the style are really some of the better stuff I've seen in a while and that's a fact.

Thank you all so much! I really was not excepting such praise, but I truely appreciate it. I am hoping to post some more sketches soon.

And here I thought I had more sketches to post, when I really don't; nothing worth posting anyway. This is a bit embarrasing.

So I suppose I will move on to the next best thing: Since I am always looking for practice, if anyone has a request, I would love to hear them. I will try to the best of my abilities to meet them.

That is awesome!! Some pictures don't need color to be amazing.. Like that one.

Thank you, I really appreciate that! As I said before, if I did try to color this directly, I would likely ruin it. I suppose that is what practice is for, right?

Now that my classes are finally over, maybe now I can finally get some drawings done! Here are a couple more drawings, not much as of yet. The first is Shining Armor in a more traditional style armor. I actually did this piece for a metal rendering for one of my finals. The second is just a basic piece of a sad Pinkie.

Again, please let me know what you think. Any critique would be of great help.

Well, here is my feeble attempt at coloring one of my pieces. Since I am not very familiar with the properties of colored pencils, this is more for experimentation than anything else. Along those lines, I decided that instead of using black for shadows, I would use other colors and their compliments to create a darker tone. I suppose it worked...sort of. At least it gives it a slightly darker and colder feel, right?

It is still a work in progress, as I still need to add the finer details to the hair and eyes as well as blending everything more properly. Any thoughts, tips, critques, anything at all, do not hesitate to say so. It would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

This style is very unique in a very good way. You look like you know what you're doing in the whole movement and animating the character section. The ponies sort of look like they could be wolves. I really like the way you made the wings half folded and relaxed and natural.

Yes, I can see how the facial structure I use would give the head a sort of canine look. I cannot pinpoint a reason as to why I draw that way though, but I will have to keep it in mind in the future.

Thank you very much for your compliments. I truly do appreciate it!

Your Shining Armor during is f%#king epic, man i need to start drawing more!

your art work is amazing

Thank you very much! I was quite pleased with how it turned out, and I even used it for one of my finals in class. Even if the pose is a bit on the static side, I still wish to give it a proper coloring job.

If you do start drawing more, be sure to let me know. I always lvoe to see others' work.

This strongly reminds me of Disney sketches and cartoons, most forward would be The Lion King.

For constructive criticism, making the ears slightly bigger in the adult would help out giving it more personality and flock out the tails a bit more, it could strengthen the overall look of the image.

Graffiti ponies would be awesome in my opinion! I do not believe II have seen them drawn in that type of style. And if your family does happen to find out, you can always say you are doing a request for a friend. Although you should not be afraid to express anything about yourself, but I can understand your reasoning.

First, thank you very much for the compliment, though I doubt I deserve as much. I do appreciate it all the same though!

Second, I want to thank you for the criticism as well. I can see what you mean by the ears and the tails, and I will certainly have to keep that in mind whenever I draw next. My mentality on the ears was to make them smaller in the adults, while slightly larger in the youths to give that little bit of distinction. Though, I believe I did not accomplish this on the latter portion. On the tail...I have no explanation. Drawing hair is still an enigma to me, so more practice it is! Thank you so much again for your input. I really means a lot to me.
