Ahaban and Bulawayo entered into the dinning hall looking about for the host. But noting that she was with her fellow guests the two decide to take a seat at the far end of the table.

 

"I read late of your letter and you went upon your own.

I thought it'd be best for you to not go alone." The zebra spoke.

 

"You didn't have to brave a storm friend." Ahaban reassured him.

"I've had that feeling ever since I was a colt," Thrillseeker explained. "Roller coasters have always fascinated me more than thunderstorms. You just can't beat the feeling of the wind in your mane as you careen on the track."

"Actually, no," Thrillseeker chuckled. "I'm not in any kind of business, unless it's giving ponies the ride of their lives. Let me explain." He then shook Trilby's hoof. "I'm Thrillseeker, it's nice to meet you. I operate the tallest, fastest roller coaster in all of Equestria, the Whirlwind. You may have heard of the phrase 'hold onto your hats'. Maybe you can replace the ones our riders keep losing."

Trilby looks at Thrillseeker, a little confused. "Huh? Oh, yeah, sure. Whatever you say." Trilby brushes him off to get closer to Plum.

 

"Yes, I admit it'd be a rather weird set up, but why not? Shop at one place, get a discount for the other. Sounds like good synergy to me. I make the hats, you make the baked goods, and life is sweeter for the both of us." Trilby winks and gives Plum a flower. ...Wait, where did he get a flower?

Plum looked surprised. What a strange pony, she thought, as she reluctantly took the flower from Trilby's hoof and tucked it into her mane.

"Erm--thank you, but no thank you," she said, trying to be polite. "I mean, my business isn't even up and running yet, so I wouldn't want to drag you down." She smiled sheepishly.

"Now, hold on there," Thrillseeker said to Trilby, an idea popping up in his mind. "I'm sure the two of us could work something out. All the park-goers in Poney Island want something to remember their trip by. Maybe you can make a souvenir hat for one of the rides where I work. A hat that says, 'Hey! I was crazy enough to ride this!' What do you think, Plum?"

"Oh, don't be so hard on yourself. It'll work out!" Trilby takes Plum's hoof into his own. "Let me just tell you... A journey can never begin without that first step, and I believe in you. Don't worry about dragging me down. Let's focus on building YOU up." Trilby says.

 

But then Thrillseeker ruins his buzz. "...Honestly, never heard of you. Do you own the park, or do you operate the rides? I'd really have to work with a park owner for that. Not that I'd mind, as long as you don't mind the hats being shipped via crate."

Bulawayo grabbed about a plate full of apple assorted snacks and returning to his seat across from Ahaban.

 

"Such wonderful snacking delights. They are quite unique for the usual sight." Bulawayo says in his natural rhyme.

 

Ahaban smiled, "They quite are. It'll be an amazing bakery. Abdullah would've eaten everything." He comments.

"Haven't been to Poney Island, huh?" Thrillseeker rolled his eyes. "If you're ever in Manehattan, I'll be sure to show you around. Here, let me give you my boss' card. I think you could work an arrangement somehow. Of course, the park's closed for the winter. No better time than to start helping Plum on the right hoof."

Plum took Thrillseeker's distraction as an opportunity to pull her hoof of of Trilby's. I really don't need help, she wanted to say, but she was afraid of bringing the conversation topic back to herself. Feeling uncomfortable, she picked up the nearest tray. Plum's eyes zipped around nervously, trying to find her trusted friend.

 

Amber had been sitting by the fire, silently sketching and taking the occasional break to stare out the window and eat a cookie or two. Finally, she looked up and met Plum's eye, giving a slight chuckle. Amber gave Plum an assuring smile and a wink, and Plum instantly and inexplicably felt more comfortable. Plum turned back to the two stallions.

"I'll be right back," she said confidently, still clutching the tray in her mouth. She trotted out of the room into the dining hall.

Ahaban noticed Plum retreating into the living space.

"Please excuse me." He says to his friend and makes his way back to the previous room approaching to her and Amber.

"Min fadliki ana asif. I don't mean to interrupt. Plum I just wanted to announce to you. A colleague of mine has arrived. He's back in the dinning hall. I just wanted to inform you." He says to her.

"Oh, that's wonderful," Plum said, loading up a tray with sugared plums and offering Ahaban a friendly smile. "What's his name? I was just about to go bring some more treats into the parlor, so maybe you could introduce us?"

With renewed confidence, Plum was starting to feel social and eager to meet her guests before returning to her conversation with Thrillseeker's and Trilby.

"He is named Bulawayo. He is a fellow colleague of mine, same profession. A zebra from Maredonia." He says the details.

"He is awaiting just at the end of the table." He informs her.

 

Bulawayo remains at his seat eating away at the assortment of treats he had picked out before proceeding to drink his cider.

Red, meanwhile, goes back to his cider, smiling as he seems to be doing a great job of getting everyone else into conversations but not so much himself. Ah well, still a good party. He avails himself of another bit of Hearth's Warming Eve Pudding with hard sauce.

"Okay, thank you," Plum said to Ahaban. She trotted over into the parlor, happy to see her guests enjoying themselves. She approached the unfamiliar new guest, who had been drinking a glass of cider.

"Hello," Plum said. "Are you... Ahaban's friend? I'm Plum Pudding--" she paused. "Could I interest you in something to eat?" Plum held out the tray of sweets and smiled at the amber-eyed zebra.

"Sorry I wasn't at the door to greet you." She added shyly.

Thrillseeker followed Plum over to a pair of guests he had never seen before. Moreover, he hadn't met anypony from Saddle Arabia and hadn't seen a lot of zebras in Manehattan. He shifted his focus away from Plum and turned towards Ahaban and Bulawayo. "Pleased to make your acquaintance," he said, stretching out one forehoof, with other holding his plate. "The name's Thrillseeker."

Ahaban looks to the approaching stallion nodding his head.

"Marhaben, ismi Ahaban. TafataLika. Its nice to meet you." Ahaban speaks up.

"Bulawayo is my name, the feeling is the same." His, zebra companion greets next before he takes another sip of his apple cider.

 

Ahaban reaches forth to shake his hoof.

Thrillseeker returned Ahaban's hoofshake, then shook Bulawayo's as well before helping himself to the plum pudding on his plate. "That always good to hear," he said. "And I thought I had to travel far to get to Ponyville. Then again, I don't get out of Manehattan all too often," he admitted with a chuckle. "Especially during the time Poney Island's amusement parks are open."

Plum blushed at the kind Zebra's complement, and placed the tray onto the table next to her. It seemed that Thrillseeker had followed her into the parlour, and it was only a matter of time before Trilby came to join the conversation, too. Plum decided to relax, so she sat herself down to listen to her guests as they chatted. She sighed quietly and smiled, as the fire warmed her body.

"Perhaps you may have seen us up in Manehatten. Our employer is having high security offers for the local businesses." Ahaban says.

" Our work tends us to busy. Its quite a rare to be lounged and fizzy." Bulawayo adds.

 

"I thought I'd never find space in my schedule to come down here." Ahaban commented refilling his glass.

Silver double checked the scroll he held tightly with his magic, and then the address near the door.  Yes, this seemed to be the place.  His cloak whipping around him as the wind picked up, blowing snowy powder off the ground and into the air around him, he gave three sharp knocks on the door. 

 

Normally Silver would not join frivolities such as this, but he was stuck in Ponyville due to the storm, which was due to continue for at least another day...and his superior had been encouraging him to loosen up.  'It will do you good to relax and visit with some ponies who aren't in mortal danger or part of the Guard,' she had said.  He wasn't so sure about that, but he was willing to humor her.

Thrillseeker waited for Ahaban to finish refilling his mug before getting some cider for himself. "Yeah, I've heard about your group," he said. "Must be hard having to work around the clock, especially around Hearth's Warming. I don't think I've seen either you around Poney Island, though. I guess the rides and games aren't for everypony."

Silver looked over at the pegasus. As he spoke, an undertone of resigned annoyance was barely detectable in his neutral voice, though what the cause of it may be was anypony's guess.

 

"Yes, I am a guard. And yes, I should be in Canterlot. My name is Silver Sheild. It it a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Flamestreak."
