Hey there every pony,

Wow. It has been years since I last was on this forum. My name is Note Wise(formally JediMPG) Over the past two years I've been doing my hoof at music production. Recently i had a college semester project for recording and decided to a Smile Song cover. I do hope you all enjoy it and feel free to leave some feedback!

Work on timing, I can clearly hear two guitars that sound a bit off from each other. Don't worry, I know that feel, I need to work on my a lot myself. I recommend using metronome for that. Also few notes are not in tune, check Your tuner if it is not "trolling You" (like my trolls me >< ). And check bridge of Your guitar, if it's not set up then only open strings will sound in tune. AND of course make sure strings aren't simply too old as it too might be an issue.

About production I can't say much, I am no expert there, sorry :c

Overall here is my hint in nutshell:

Thanks for the feedback!

-I defiantly know about the timing. Pro Tools was messing me up it feels, as I was watching the playhead, it felt like the audio was playing before the playhead actually reached the waveform. I feel I've been able to get it down a bit more now within Logic Pro X and FL Studio. I'll continue to work on it of course!

-I'll check the tuning as well. Before I started the recording for this I had changed my strings recently. Being the first time I did it..It didn't go as good as I hoped but it didn't go back. There were a few times when playing the B string that the tuning just went downnnnnnn.....and I had to bring it all the way back up. I'm guessing hurt it lol.

Thanks for the listen and the feedback! <3

"Fresh" strings are trolls too, because they tend to go out of tune pretty fast (at least they do on my LTD EC-1000 guitar every time I replace them. I hate that ><). Just tune them as often as possible, eventually they will stop doing that.

About the thing with Pro Tools - I can't say much, I only use guitar rig 5 myself :derp:

I actually got Komplete 10 for Christmas this year actually. Guitar Rig 5 is BUCKING AWESOMEEEEEEE! I'm actually using it for a "Rainbow Factory-Metal Cover" that i've been wanting to re-do for 2 years now!

alright let me throw my hat into the ring here as i am a musician, while you are on the right track,  i don't know just how long you have been playing the guitar but i'll just spell it out for you.

first learn an understand the fiddle with the software to work out the kinks and over all smooth the process.

as for new strings this is how you get them how you want them,  string up your guitar, tune all to pitch, take the first string and run your finger under with a fair amount of resistance up and down the neck on the string 2-3 times tune back up to pitch after each and repeat for all 6 strings.

now also a pro set (intonation and action *string height*) up by a guitar shop will do WONDERS trust me i know,

(or i can show you how to do your own setups and save you $50+strings and tax)

and yes practice practice practice!!! *number one RULE to building speed* is play it as S.L.O.W. as you can at least 20 times. then bump up the tempo a bit and repeat OVER and OVER

i'm always around so just PM me

I did not read it, ahh, well.

Guitar Rig 5 is pretty great, but I've noticed sound quality drop when recording tracks with it at least on my PC. I am thinking on getting Cubase as with it I will have much less work when recording stuff.

Guitar Rig is awesome.  It's so much easier rather than trying to mic an amp at 2 in the morning and it's got more sounds than I could ever muster live.

Pretty weird, but I like how it has less muddy distortion than my amp. Palm mutes are much more clear and audible and it's much easier to make Your own tone. I mad somee little presets for myself, it was true pain though, making a preset for 8 string guitar is just... wow >.>
