request Art for a game

I'm writing a My Little Pony game and am looking to see if any people would help out with the artwork for it. The game will be freely available; it's just a hobby project; not commercial.

Roughly what I'll need is:

  • For the playable characters (there will be less than 10 playable characters), I'll need about 10 pictures of each. These will need to be PNGs with transparent backgrounds, at specific sizes in specific poses.
  • For the non-playable characters (there will be about 50 non-playable characters), I'll usually need just one picture of them. (Though it would be nice to also have a second picture which is exactly identical except with their eyes closed, so I can animate them blinking from time to time.) They'll still need to be PNGs with transparent backgrounds, but you'll have more freedom in deciding how to pose them.
  • I'll need pictures of around 40 or 50 inanimate objects (books, scrolls, coins, food items, etc).
  • I'll need background pictures for around 100 locations. Many of them are places from the show, like Sugarcube Corner, Golden Oak Library, and Fluttershy's cottage. Others are stretches of road, patches of sky, and parts of the Everfree forest, where you'd have more scope for creativity.

Would there be anybody interested in helping me out with this?

Ideally I don't want to parcel it out for lots of people to do in small chunks. For example, I think the game would look better if all the backgrounds were done by just one person. And all the characters done by just one person. And all the inanimate objects done by one person. This would mean the game would look less like a patchwork. (But the person who did the backgrounds wouldn't need to be the same person that did the characters, say.)

As I said, it's a hobby project, so I'm not offering any sort of payment for any of this. Mostly I just hope some people think it might be a fun project to work on. But I am willing to offer one reward for working on it - anybody willing to make that commitment of doing almost 200 character pictures, or around 100 background images, or around 50 inanimate objects can have their OC added to the game as a non-playable character. The player will be able to go up to them and interact with them (in a limited way - all conversations will be scripted).

If you want to see the kind of game I'm talking about, see this video.

@, what style of art are you looking for? like pixel vector etc.

if its pixel i can do your characters if vector  could do 1 group of them or both depending on your time frame and complexity of the characters

i did some pixel art for a friend and i run a request shop the reference of time would be 2-3 a night depending on complexity.

I don't really mind what style, provided it's consistent.

The same style as Friendship is Magic and the pony scenes of the Equestria Girls films would be good. But I'm also quite fond of the pixelated character style that you can see in the current demo video - it has a retro game feel to it.

Provided they're ponies, they're bright and colourful, and they're consistent with each other (not varying in style from one character to another), I'm not especially fussy though.

well i can do pixel and vector so i could make them like the show. really the only difference is the time it takes  pixel will take a shorter amount of time  for obvious reasons but vectoring them really wouldn't be hard per se just take longer to finish them all so in the end it doesn't make a difference on my end because you know im just that cool B) . i would say i'm more consistent with vectors but thats compared the the ability to make consistent pixel art so the  to me the only factors are do you want a retro look or to look like the show. its your game after all  :)some refence for time i have finished 8 vectors in the last 3 days  and thats only working for 3ish hours a night

I suppose that if it looked like the show, it would be awesome. But because the characters are never likely to have smooth, natural-looking animation, that might not actually work out too well. Like we're trying too hard and failing. Pixelated sprite-like images might be a better idea.

And I don't consider it my game, but everybody who helps' game!

Would you like to try doing a set of images for Twilight Sparkle? She should be an alicorn, not a plain unicorn. She can have a crown if you like (you choose).

I've attached my current Pinkie images. As you can see, there are images for flying, running, and standing idle.

There are left-facing and right-facing variants of each. Generally speaking, I'm happy for you to just do one direction, and I can flip it to create the other direction. For some ponies with asymmetrical features, you might want to do specific left and right versions, but even the show is inconsistent about that. (Is Twilight's pink streak to the right of her horn, or the left?) So it's up to you.

At some point I'll probably also want a spell-casting image (left and right), a mid-air spell-casting image (left and right), and a climbing image (up and down).

The rectangle the images are drawn onto is 106×126 pixels, so images need to be that size, but you'd normally leave some blank space around the ponies - I'd expect most adult mares to be around the same size as Pinkie is in these examples.

And thanks for your help!
