gaming What new genre could Nintendo Tackle?

So, Nintendo is coming out with a new IP, Splatoon, which is a third-person shooter, and it got me thinking: What genre would you like Nintendo to make a game in? Here's a list:

Platformer: Mario

Adventure: Zelda

RPG: Fire Emblem

Shooter: Star Fox

Racer: F-Zero

Fighting game: Smash Bros (*waits for someone to reply "Smash Bros isn't a fighting game!"*)

Sports: Punch-Out, those NES Sports games (Ice Hockey, Tennis, Baseball, Golf).

A Western Open-World ala GUN or Red Dead Redemption

This would be so amazing. Especially to see it made by Nintendo, personally I feel the western rpg atmosphere is an untapped resource in the gaming industry.

Fire Emblem is a strategy RPG.

They need to really get down and do a REAL rpg.

Implying that SRPGs aren't real RPGs?

Paper Mario fills that role though so it wouldn't really be new.

Nintendo has really tackled quite a few genres from horror (Luigi's Mansion) to educational (Mario is Missing) so I don't know where they can really go.

Oh and Golden Sun, Mario & Luigi, and Xenoblade.

But honestly I think Nintendo has touched upon almost every genre. Maybe a business simulation like RollerCoaster Tycoon.

Well they did do a SimCity game, so that's already somewhat covered too.

How about a rhythm game where you play rock/different genre versions of Nintendo songs... sure they've had Donkey Konga, DDR Mario Mix, and Wii Music, but there hasn't really been anything since.

Yeah that's about all I can think of that I haven't seen from them that I would want :P

Well, I wouldn't mind if they tried a more traditional stab at a fighting game, but this is Nintendo we're talking about.

I can't really think of anything... maybe puzzle. No wait, I remember there being a pokemon puzzle game.

Only kind of related, but maybe it's just me, but I'd like for Retro Studios to work on a new IP. All of their games so far have been installments in existing franchises (Metroid, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong). I wanna see if they can make a great original game.

They did do Jungle Beat and Donkey Konga, so they have that covered as well.

I want to see a Kingdom Hearts-esque RPG. One with a real-time battle system, but traditional RPG leveling.

Maybe a Star Fox-based RTS game? One where you could control either the Cornerian Forces or those of Andross? Maybe use Star Fox and Star Wolf as special units?

Mmmm...RTS...

I don't think Nintendo has published a Survival Horror game since Eternal Darkness... a new IP like that would be swell. Retro could do it, the Metroid Prime games have tons of unsettling, horror-like moments and they would just have to elevate that sort of element further. :please:
