So with all the madness going on, it's time for a bit of good news. Remember that NJPW x NOAH crossover from last year? Well this year, it's time for round 2!

FmbOs6lakAAl7vc?format=jpg&name=900x900

And the part everyone liked from last years contrived card conceived in political compromise, the battle between each company's most dominant faction in LIJ vs. Kongo, has now been expanded after this happened at WrestleKingdom.

It's now a best of five series. Leaders clash as the tranquillo Tetsuya Naito fights NOAH's angry karate man, Kenoh. We finally get the anticipated ream match of Ryu-kon, Shingo Takagi vs. the sinister lone wolf, Katsuhiko Nakajima. We get a clash of old tag partners from their days as Muta's pet projects as Seiya Sanada battles the red enforcer Manabu Soya. The new Jr. champ Hiromu battles legitimate creep Hajime Ohara and Bushi battles the Jericho devotee, Tadasuke. Will be interesting to see how this all gets booked considering NJPW all but won in a land slide last year.

Elsewhere on the card we've got:

WK17_230121_04.jpg

Okada and Makabe rarely team together, but they've got common enemies in NOAH as Makabe wants another piece of NOAH's walking refrigerator and tire flipping enthusiast Yoshiki Inamura. While ont he opposite side, NOAH's prodigy, Kaito Kiyomiya had to climb his way back to the top, and that rock bottom started with a loss to the man he's been endlessly compared to: Kazuchika Okada. Now not only does he seek redemption against the new IWGP WHC, but Kaito himself is the GHC heavyweight champion. The honor of him and NOAH as a whole rest on his shoulders as he squares off against New Japan's final boss one more time.

WK17_230121_01.jpg

We also have our only intercompany tag match, where the ace and the sublime master thief join with wrestling most wholseome tag team of brothers from different dojos, the GHC tag champs Taka (Takeshi Sugiura) and Satoshi (Kojima), as they take on Bullet Club and their (potentially) newest member, the genius of the ark, Naomichi Marufuji.

WK17_230121_002.jpg

And even though it's a pre-show match, I'm excited for this. We finally get a clash of two wrestlers so alike, it's scary. Stone Pitbull, Tomohiro Ishii, takes on the hand picked protege of the late great Masa Saito, Masa Kitamiya.  Expect head butts. Lots of them.

There will be more matches, but I don't want to spoil the whole card for you.

Show will be available on Abema or NJPW World the day of, but as a PPV.  I'd wait a week to see it for free on NJPW world with commentary from Kevin & Chris or on WrestleUniverse with Stewart & Mark.

There is no easy way to say this.

Jamin Pugh, better known to us all as Jay Brisoce, the former 2x ROH world champion and one half of the reigning ROH world tag team champions with his brother Mark, has just lost his life in a car accident at the age of only 38 years old.

Dude was an ROH original. From the first show at the murphy rec center to that MotY contender against FTR at Final Battle. He was ROH through and through. He had an incredible two decades under his belt, bringing tag wrestling back. He probably had another ten or twenty. I can't imagine what Mark, Papa Briscoe, his wife and kids are all feeling. This hits harder than Brodie Lee. I never got to see Brodie and was a bit let down I never will. But I saw the Briscoes. They helped me give ROH a chance 15 years ago. One of the reasons I went to my first ROH show for my birthday, was to see the Briscoes.

Rest in Power, Jay. May your legacy live on. Thank you for everything.

Just heard the news about Jay Briscoe. RIP You were amazing to watch in the ring(I remember watching him years ago in ROH) and you will be missed. I can't imagine how devastated his family must feel.

So if you all wanna show the wrestling world your inner Rarity, a donation site has been set up for the Pugh family. Jay's two girls were in the car with him and they're gonna need all the support they can get.

https://www.givesendgo.com/pughlove?sharemsg=display

And in other news, last night a Jay Briscoe tribute show was filmed. No news when it'll air but it will be free on Honor Club and the ROH YouTube channel, along with a best of compilation. 20 years of work, it'll be hard to narrow any of it down.

Welp, WK night III went down. And people are talking. Not about the LIJ vs. Kongo best of five. But about the tag match a year in the making where New Japan's champ. Kazuchika Okada and NOAH's champ. Kaito Kiyomiya would cross paths once again. Would Okada once again prove that he was the final boss of strong style and shut the NOAH young boy out? Or would Kaito take the punk card Okada tossed his way last year and throw it back into his face?

Oh and here's the monitor Kaito landed on.

And just 24 hours after that madness, in the very same building nonetheless, The Great Muta had his retirement show. And that final match was otherworldly.

Just ask Darby Allin.

And hey, you'd ever thought in the mid-90s you'd get to see Sting vs. Hakushi?

Tomorrow on Dynamite, we're getting a proper tribute match.

I've never watched a Briscoe tag match before, any recommendations?

Oh give me a minute as I delve back into the last twenty odd years of their catalog. But off the top of my head:

And of course, do catch their trilogy with FTR.

Thank You, BWBFF! “Best Wrestling Matches” lists can be too confusing so I wanted a wrestling fan opinion. :)

I haven’t spent any money on WWE or anything associated with WWE since 2015 or 2016 and that’s not gonna change any time soon.

ROH and AEW just posted the tribute for Jay that was recorded last week.

Tony Khan has created a second chance at an "invasion" storyline now that he owns both wrestling companies but ROH doesn't have TV

so how would it work?

Also, I just watched a video about the "Stardom Incident-Act Yasukawa vs Yoshiko", have you seen it?

I've hated WWE since 2015/2016 when they treated one of my favourite wrestlers like he was a nobody and a hunk of garbage, that's why I've never forgiven them or thought of giving them a second chance.

Probably wouldn't. Tony doesn't want his two fledgling feds to look like bad guys. Hard to do that anyways with both still being sentimental favorites of die hards past and present.

Plus Impact kinda did an ROH invasion already.

I haven't. Don't really keep up with Stardom outside of what NJPW co-promotes. But was this where one of the girls took a phoenix splash to the face?

1. Oh. :please:

2. One of the wrestlers got mad and beat the heck out of the other wrestler during a match.

Even their trainer was :glimmer: at the wrestler who beat up the other one.

That was my next guess, since it happened a while ago. The Japanese literally call it the gruesome match. Poor girl still isn't 100%.
