I hope so. Otherwise we have a bunch of characters with nothing to do. While that might make sense in a tournament system, the fact is we've all narratively "signed up."

 

Ceremonial combat usually has a fight promoter. The fact that the prize is a wish to be granted means that we can't just start hacking away. There has to be some fanfare to justify the tourney.
