Is it unusual to like all of the Mane Six characters?

I think people like to point out their flaws, but that doesn't mean they hate them, right?

Not at all. They are flawed. That's part of why I love them. They are nuanced, identifiable, and for lack of a better term, human.

In some cases yes, but there are plenty of fans who actually hate some of the characters. Just type in "Rainbow Dash sucks" or "I hate Rainbow Dash" into google and an alarming amount of hate posts (mostly on DeviantArt) will pop up :P

I like all of the mane six ponies, everything addressed here, such as Twilight is too perfect, Rarity is greedy or Rainbow Dash is egotistical, have probably little to no interaction with people, in a business or personal relationship outside of a family, but I knew people in real life who were like the mane six, I knew people like that in the navy, but we bonded through training, we had jocks, nerds, saints and ex criminals, despite that we worked together, because if we let our differences separate us, none of us would survive contact with the enemy. It takes many to make a village, the fact that this diversity, that makes up the mane six, reminds us that this could be anyone of us, if we had a variety of friends with a common link, like having someone over to play video games, or to fix a broken toilet, that is the reality of a relationship, the mane six do fun things together, and merge to save their community, sort of like Sailor Moon, Power Rangers or the Justice League, everypony has something special to contribute, and keep each other balanced, I know I strive to a group of friends as awesome as the mane six, I wish that more than anything, for that is one of the reasons I became a brony, to be a part of the mane six.

Yes, flaws are good, but at the same time, flaws can be legitimate reasons not to like a character. So sometimes it's a bit of a double edged sword. But that's just how it goes in real life as well. The same as how you're not going to like everyone you meet in life, you are also not going to like every character you see on-screen, or in books, or whatever else.

Either way, flawed characters are still infinitely superior to perfect characters. There is absolutely no reason to care or become invested in the development of a perfect character, and that's their one and only "flaw."

I would only disagree in that characters can "appear" flawless, but are interesting still.

John Carter, at least as far as the books are concerned, is strong, brave, chivalrous, honorable, and just an all around super guy. Yet he's still one of my favorite literary characters precisely because he does pretty much what I wish most characters would do in equivalent situations.

Namely, kick ass, takes names, and don't give two shits about the bad guy's plots or demands.

No! I'm the same way. Even though there are some I like more than others, I happen to have a liking for all of them. Why? Because it really makes me happy to see 6 ponies who don't have much in common with each other love each other like sisters do.

This picture shows us that they feel lucky that they're all friends with each other:

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

Same deal with all the mane 6, especially Rarity and Fluttershy (yeah, you would be surprised at how many people hate Fluttershy).

I believe most fans "like" all of the Mane Six to some extent, but naturally everyone has their favorites and least favorites. You always have your fair share of folks who are rather vocal about their least favorites, and yes, it is unfortunate that many fans are pretty extreme in their dislike of particular characters, but I think those people are in the minority. I think it's far more unusual that fans don't like all of the Mane Six ponies to some degree. I for one love all six of them, and I often have a very difficult time "ranking" them from favorite to least favorite simply because I honestly think that all six of them are amazing in their own right. I can only ever decide on who my undisputed favorite is. That's easy. :smug:

I like all of them quite a bit myself, but I just care about some more than others. I do like all of them, though :D

Of course, the one that gets criticism seems to fluctuate greatly. Sometimes it's Rarity, sometimes it's Rainbow Dash, sometimes it's Applejack, sometimes it's Twilight, sometimes it's even Fluttershy or Pinkie Pie :P Every one of them has someone who hates them and will go out of their way to attack them for some reason or another, and it isn't really something that's going to change as long as this fandom has breath, so I just try to leave it be nowadays :please:

I do see people using some of the old defenses I wrote for Rarity as pro-Rarity arguments from time to time, though, whenever the need arises :D That makes me feel like Sun Tzu or something.

I dunno. I just wanted to add that

There is nothing wrong with liking all the mane 6. There are none that I dislike, although I do have a favorite.

hint hint, her name is Fluttershy and you all know she's best pony.
