Silence

Festers like pathogens in an open wound,

Clouds the mind like the smog in a polluted city,

Yet it remains the only thing keeping you alive.

 

The Elephant

You go to work day after day in the same room,

Trying to squeeze by pretending it doesn't exist with the same mundane topics of discussion,

Yet the elephant makes you happy even though you keep it locked away within your self-maintained prison.

 

Suffering

With every breath and step,

Walking on the same broken glass day after day,

Yet you hope for a different outcome as if you changed the circumstances.

 

Broken

Like shattered glass,

Feeling your heart bleed through the cracks,

The dried blood stains on the opened scab flowing with fresh blood again like a waterfall.

 

Walking in broken silence, suffering as you try to hide the elephant in the room from everyone else.

Everyone sighs as you claim to be okay, even though you may as well be screaming in plain sight.

One day, you will find peace but will you lose what you hold the most dear to finally realize it?

This is pretty great stuff. The wording in The Elephant felt a bit awkward and forced though, you could consider changing it to make it flow more naturally. 

 

Other than that, though, I think these are great.

This was more free hand improvisation than any real intentional rhyme or meter. I can try to edit though. It was a summary of my thoughts at the time.
