In Loving Memory of Daniel “Clockwork” Hopkins:

It is never a good day when we learn that one of our own has passed away. We are a close community, and losing one of our friends and colleagues is devastating to all of us.

Unfortunately, this week we were saddened to learn of the untimely passing of one of our very own. Daniel “Clockwork” Hopkins was the host of the Lunar Echoes podcast, which aired on Luna Radio and Ponyville Live. He passed away on March 9, 2015. He was 32.

Many in our network have fond memories of Clockwork, who always brought his passion and personality into his work, and was an integral part of the show that he helped to create. He will be sorely missed.

Clockwork’s close friend, Seth Libby, wrote about him and the many friends and memories he made in his obituary, which we have included below.

The Lunar Echoes staff has informed us that the show will be taking an indefinite hiatus. We wish the best to the LE crew as they cope with this tragic loss. Prior episodes of the show will remain online.

The Knoxville, Tennessee-based Super Speedy Cider Con has dedicated this year’s convention to Clockwork for his support of the convention and its staff.

A memorial fund in Daniel’s honor has been established via GoFundMe.

Daniel Van Hopkins age 32 of Dover, PA passed away Monday March 9, 2015. He was born May 17, 1982, in Hillsboro, OH, the son of Edward Hopkins and Jo Newsome. He worked as a desktop support specialist while pursuing his artistic passions and community-building dreams.

Danny is survived by his father Edward Hopkins and fiancé Beverly Schmidt of Winchester, mother; Jo and Byron Kidd of Cincinnati, aunts and uncles; Glenda Frodge of Russellville, Linda Mullins of Gatesville, TX, Helen & Dean LaPoint of Wisconsin, Faye & Cliff Ellis of Sardinia, Drexel & Judy Hopkins and lots of cousins. Furthermore, he leaves behind an immeasurable number of friends whose lives he touched and shaped through his spirit and love of adventure. He never met a stranger, only a new friends, while he was building communities and relationships with those he counted as family. Danny’s love of adventures and new experiences took him on many travels: from the Bay of San Francisco to Eastern Shore and in his artistic endeavors from developing the world of Trinton Chronicles novels to the Lunar Echoes Podcast.

Danny’s artistic passions enabled him to build communities around his various adventures and passions. An avid lover of fantasy, he founded Trinton Chronicles which derived numerous ambitious works including several novels, a card game, and an online community of writers who loved the world he built with them. His love of history and photography helped Danny to connect with other artists whose works and subjects include historical landmarks of Pennsylvania, trains from all eras (especially steam), and haunted places throughout the mid-Atlantic. His latest artistic passion and community is the Lunar Echoes Podcast which he founded with Seth Libby and co-hosted with Jason Kuzmak to explore and support the Brony community. With this show he has given voice to a community all around the world and made true friends with the guests and members of the Lunar Echoes family. He also loved to help others in their endeavors.  He greatly supported the Super Speedy Cider Con in which they are dedicating part of the convention in memory of him. Danny’s spirit and love will live on in Clockwork, his pony, who will be loved and recognized by all who knew him.
