Soulwax 14 April 22, 2015 Share April 22, 2015 I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one here who hates and cringes when someone says "Somepony"… 11 LyraBon isn't and will never become canon
Creamy Arty 6,252 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 Moving this over to Sugarcube Corner since it pertains to the brony fandom. Only when used outside of a "brony environment" do I find it cringeworthy. On brony forums such as this it should be expected, same goes for conventions. It hasn't been common at meetups I've been to but people do say it every now and then. Just comes with the territory. Saying it to non-bronies or to other bronies when hanging out with non-bronies is a bit too much though. "A place for everything and everything in its place." No need to creep out strangers who don't even know what MLP is. Besides, it's rude to make references like that when addressing folks not in the know. 20 Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights! TenorSounds 832 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 Yep, it weirds me out too. That's more my problem than anyone else's though, it's not like it's wrong or anything. Heck, I have a ponysona that I put a lot of time and effort into coming up with and just typing out "ponysona" made me cringe; I guess I'm just a hypocrite? xD 1 Check out my YouTube Let's Play Channel! mars 4,863 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 I don't mind saying it online and I think it'd be adorable to say at a convention... but... I don't know, in a place that's not pony-related like the mall or school saying "Come on, everypony!" is just kind of weird. Don't get me wrong, I love the different ponified words like 'mane' or 'somepony' or 'ponified', but it totally seems weird out in public.

Sugar Pea 2,683 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 I used to be sorta bad at using that term, especially in public off the internet. One time, I believe I did it on accident. But yes, I do cringe. Especially in the show when sometimes the ponies will say "somebody" or "hand", then turn around and say "somepony" or "hoof" the next minute. Get your vocabulary right, MLP. aha 4 ℓ٥ﻻ ﻉ√٥υ
[NULL] 907 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 (edited) Yes. I never liked the term in the show to begin with. We don't say "everyhuman" or "somehuman". Edited April 24, 2015 by SpaceOnion
Blackshirt Brony 415 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 Not necessarily. It's actually one of the less cringeworthy things in the fandom, in my opinion.
colt_following 169 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 (edited) Ooh I used to hate it esp. in the show, but it grew in me. I wouldn't say it in the meatspace at all but I think it's sorta cute and in a place like this it might even be a little appropriate Edited April 24, 2015 by colt_following Come join the Equestria Big Band project! RarityFan01 2,444 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 Most people hate that term. I personally don't mind it. Although I would get excited if I hear someone say "somepony" in real life. Overdrive 5,366 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 Online, I don't have an issue with it. In real life, to a degree, because I've let it slip out from time to time. "I'd rather trust and regret, than doubt and regret."
Ashen Pathfinder 16,164 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 Honestly, I don't use it that much online or off. Now, there have been times when I use it, but I'm just one of the few long-time bronies who have never picked up the lingo. Attack of the Pwns 894 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 It's perfectly fine in a place like this one that's all about ponies, heck I've even dropped it a couple of times. But outside of here or a convention, it seems super obsessive and in my opinion makes us look a little obnoxious as a fandom. 3 Signature by the ever-awesome Overdrive! Pinki Pie FTW! Fender 1,284 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 I find it more "cringy" when people say anything to do with "cringing." It's a fad to hate things, which is a pathetic excuse for people to turn their insecurities into self-merited superiority. But yes, I hate it when I see or hear "somepony." It's whatever, though.
Lunia 332 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 It's alright when used within the fandom ,but when used else where it's a bit strange. 3 Signature made by me.

Kyoshi Frost Wolf 42,202 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 I find I it to be just a cute thing to say, though I only ever use it on appropriate websites, that being ones that are MLP related. I never see anyone ever use it offline so that is never an issue for me. I don't mind people saying it at all, since it is from the show and all. 1 Redeem me into childhood. Koukatsu 5,899 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 I use it all the time on the forums, or skype, with other bronies. In fact, there is a moment where I accidentally used it while twitch streaming, talking to my brother, who is a brony. So no, I don't find it "cringy". 1 || Ponysona || Ask Me Anything || Johari Window || Twitch || Gamer Stuff ||

Love//Hack 819 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 If it's outside the fandom, like on a general forums that isn't for any fandom/in public not at Bronycon or another public place for bronies and pegasisters, I may cringe a little bit at someone going like 'somepony, everypony," or other ponified sayings such as "Buck, bucking,", "Brohoof!", "What the hay?!" "Hay!" as hey, etc. But if it's like on MLP Forums or on FIMFiction and other sites for fans, I'm quite fine with it and may sometimes use it myself. 1 Ask A Pony Who Is "Just Gold"~ https://mlpforums.com/topic/129695-ask-a-pony-who-is-just-gold/ Fandoms: MLP:FIM, 5 Nights At Freddy's, Gravity Falls, Vocaloid/UTAU, Steven Universe, Over the Garden Wall, Creepypasta, Littlest Pet Shop, Star Vs the Forces of Evil, Adventure Time, and many more.
