Use of "Somepony" online and in public

Moving this over to Sugarcube Corner since it pertains to the brony fandom.

Only when used outside of a "brony environment" do I find it cringeworthy. On brony forums such as this it should be expected, same goes for conventions. It hasn't been common at meetups I've been to but people do say it every now and then. Just comes with the territory. Saying it to non-bronies or to other bronies when hanging out with non-bronies is a bit too much though. "A place for everything and everything in its place." No need to creep out strangers who don't even know what MLP is. Besides, it's rude to make references like that when addressing folks not in the know.

Yep, it weirds me out too. That's more my problem than anyone else's though, it's not like it's wrong or anything. Heck, I have a ponysona that I put a lot of time and effort into coming up with and just typing out "ponysona" made me cringe; I guess I'm just a hypocrite? xD

I don't mind saying it online and I think it'd be adorable to say at a convention... but... I don't know, in a place that's not pony-related like the mall or school saying "Come on, everypony!" is just kind of weird. Don't get me wrong, I love the different ponified words like 'mane' or 'somepony' or 'ponified', but it totally seems weird out in public.

I used to be sorta bad at using that term, especially in public off the internet. One time, I believe I did it on accident. But yes, I do cringe. Especially in the show when sometimes the ponies will say "somebody" or "hand", then turn around and say "somepony" or "hoof" the next minute. Get your vocabulary right, MLP. aha

Online, I don't have an issue with it. In real life, to a degree, because I've let it slip out from time to time.

Honestly, I don't use it that much online or off. Now, there have been times when I use it, but I'm just one of the few long-time bronies who have never picked up the lingo.

It's perfectly fine in a place like this one that's all about ponies, heck I've even dropped it a couple of times. But outside of here or a convention, it seems super obsessive and in my opinion makes us look a little obnoxious as a fandom.

I find it more "cringy" when people say anything to do with "cringing." It's a fad to hate things, which is a pathetic excuse for people to turn their insecurities into self-merited superiority. But yes, I hate it when I see or hear "somepony." It's whatever, though.

I find I it to be just a cute thing to say, though I only ever use it on appropriate websites, that being ones that are MLP related. I never see anyone ever use it offline so that is never an issue for me. I don't mind people saying it at all, since it is from the show and all.

I use it all the time on the forums, or skype, with other bronies. In fact, there is a moment where I accidentally used it while twitch streaming, talking to my brother, who is a brony. So no, I don't find it "cringy".

If it's outside the fandom, like on a general forums that isn't for any fandom/in public not at Bronycon or another public place for bronies and pegasisters, I may cringe a little bit at someone going like 'somepony, everypony," or other ponified sayings such as "Buck, bucking,", "Brohoof!", "What the hay?!" "Hay!" as hey, etc. But if it's like on MLP Forums or on FIMFiction and other sites for fans, I'm quite fine with it and may sometimes use it myself.
