Discordian 6,015 April 10, 2012 Share April 10, 2012 (edited) It's for a sales firm for culinary and sports cutlery. Starting rate of pay is $13/hr with no experience needed since they will train you. If I can land this...holy hell that'd be amazing. It's definitely a jump over the $9/hr I've made at previous jobs! Wish me luck! This is a gig I really want, I really and truly do. Pray for me, wish me luck, do whatever it takes cuz I f***ing want this job! Discordian 6,015 April 10, 2012 Author Share April 10, 2012 Oh I will. I have some dress shirts I can wear. The pants I got as a hand-me-down were too small for me so I'll have to go with my tan cargo pants from Wal Mart. They aren't torn at all and are nice and clean so that combined with a belt and the dress shirt I think I can pull off a semblance of professionalism. If I can get the job I can actually get some slacks. For the love of Batman, please let me land this job. ;-; It's a good thing I've always been customer service oriented. Queen Cassie 3,058 April 10, 2012 Share April 10, 2012 I'd recommend a tie as well. That may run the risk of overdoing it for such a low paying job, but you need to look professional, so it won't hurt. Used to be known on here as Kyronea. I totally agree, when I went for my interview(for the job i'm currently working in') I went for the full suit and tie biz and it must have worked, anyway just make sure u are properly groomed and look the interviewer in the eye(very important). Gingerpotato 889 April 10, 2012 Share April 10, 2012 I'd recommend a bow tie, bow ties are cool. Not to mention a fez, everyone respects a fez. All in seriousness, good luck on your interview! I'm sure you'll get the placement.

Good Luck Unfortunately I don't have any ties so a dress shirt is the best I've got for now. However I am properly groomed and always make sure I look them in the eye. Hopefully my enthusiasm and love of customer relations appeals to him. And it'd probably look silly to go into an interview with a full business suit and no tie so the jacket probably should stay off too. I'm good at looking nice with what I have though, so no worries. Also, you call it a low-paying job but to me this is such a huge jump from what I normally do it sounds like a phenomenal pay rate, at least to start with. Plus with pay like that it'll make it easier to get a license, car and possibly place of my own without having to save up from minimum wage paychecks for six years. xD
NewCalamity 3,454 April 10, 2012 Share April 10, 2012 Good luck!~ I really do hope you enjoy your position there, the best thing you can ask for in a job is enjoyment out of it. It's really great that you've been so lucky to snag a job that you're really anticipating. I sure wish I had those kinds of opportunities around here! Also, that's a great starting wage for sure, you're so lucky~ Good luck, you'll do fine, I'm sure! 1 Ob's stürmt oder schneit. | Whether it storms or snows. Evilshy 5,090 April 11, 2012 Share April 11, 2012 You said it's for a sales firm, are you going to be in sales, or some other position? I'm always wary of sales jobs, since they usually have a low hourly along with commissions. I'd take a steady wage any day, even if it is potentially lower. Signature now 99% less edgy! Discordian 6,015 April 11, 2012 Author Share April 11, 2012 Well it turns out the job is for making professional appointments rather than being a steady schedule. You make appointments through personal contacts and referrals and then you get paid for appointments you make and comissions on top of that. I should have known $13.25 was too good to be true for no experience. lol I just want a cubicle 9-5 job. ;-;
Evilshy 5,090 April 11, 2012 Share April 11, 2012 That sounds a lot like Vector Marketing. Are you selling Cutco? Cuz if that's the job, don't do it. They treat you like shit. Or at least, my managers treated me like shit when I worked there. If you can get away with not going in for their weekly "team meetings" (where they just say "okay, everybody call people and set up like 3 appointments in the next hour"), and can get away with not talking to them often, its not bad for a little extra cash on top of your normal job. You know, just do a few appointments here and there, get an extra $13 for each one, but you can't make decent money doing that on it's own. I make more in a week working part time and Panda Express than I did in 2 months selling knives :/ Signature now 99% less edgy!
Discordian 6,015 April 11, 2012 Author Share April 11, 2012 LOL Holy crap you hit the nail on head. That's the exact job I interviewed for. My mom said she had a bad feeling about the job and I probably shoulda listened to her. Oh well, guess I won't be going to that second interview after all. Poo. Oh well. Now I have an interview with AFLAC next week. I'm determined to get into a Sales and Marketing position, though preferably more of a desk job with stable hours. lol Here's hoping this one is a little more successful than my last venture. xD Also, Evilshy, I didn't know you lived in Washington State...<.< Whereabouts do you live? Evilshy 5,090 April 11, 2012 Share April 11, 2012 (edited) Camas. If you don't know where that is, it's right by Vancouver. And yeah, whenever somebody says they have an interview for a sales position selling knives, my immediate reaction is "it's probably cutco, and you don't want to work for them." They give out interviews like candy, and hire a ton of people, because they know most don't stay long, and each one will probably sell at least a few things. Although, I think I can safely say they lost money with me I will say this, though. They are very high quality knives. If anything, take the job, work a month or two, then buy your presentation kit at it's massive employee discount price, then quit soon after. The presentation kit is valued at about $300, but you can buy it for about $80-$90. I will warn you, if you don't turn in any presentation slips for a week (maybe two, I'm not sure) then you have to either buy the kit, turn in some slips, or just give it back. Discordian 6,015 April 11, 2012 Author Share April 11, 2012 lol Holy crap that's quite a ways away. When and if I ever get a car would you wanna meet up? I live all the way up near Seattle so I'll need a car or train to get all the way down there. lol Not any time soon, mind you, since I have to have a job to even pay for such a trip but someday maybe? O_O And now I apparently have another interview at 2PM today with some insurance agency. Though it's a little ways away and I'll probably have to take the Sounder train to get there in any reasonable amount of time. lol
Evilshy 5,090 April 11, 2012 Share April 11, 2012 I have a cousin in port orchards, which I think is near Seattle. Next time I'm up there, we could meet up. I can't really think of any other way to explain to my parents why I'm driving all the way up to Seattle. Maybe we could meet half way. Olympia, maybe. I'd still need an excuse to go, though. Discordian 6,015 April 11, 2012 Author Share April 11, 2012 Well we'll have ample time to plan it out anyway considering I don't even have a car and busing to Olympia would be hellish.
