Tumblr is its own thing. It really depends what you used tumblr for.. 

What did you mean by it didn't work right for you? Like you don't like the way it runs or there are technical problems with the site?

Mostly technical. Over the years I've tried to use the site on different computers but I've always had major problems with images taking eons to load, if not loading at all.
