Actually its stated somewhere that Trixie was kicked out of magic school

 

 

I don't ever remember reading that, so I'd like a source please.  (A PM would be nice)

 

 

 

And she's a stage magician, and the only magic stage magicians do is illusion magic.

 

 

She hasn't done any illusion spells. In her first episode, she twisted a rainbow around, summoned a storm cloud to zap Dashie in the butt, and transformed Rarity's hair into a rats nest. Those were not illusions, and Trixie's magic is just as practical as Twilight's. 

 

Like I said, lets end the discussion about Trixie. It's just not the place.

I agree 100%. This fact alone diminishes the potential for some great episodes involving unicorns and their magic. At least we have the school for gifted unicorns, which I'm assuming is for unicorns gifted in magic. Boast Busters was a horribly written episode that left a nasty first impression when I started watching the show.

 

 

This is something I actually hope gets retconned in the future. I consider Boast Busters as one of the reasons why Season 1 hasn't aged that well in comparison to 2, 3 and 4.
