Discordian 6,015 November 15, 2011 Share November 15, 2011 People who look away from movies. I know people can multitask and all but what's the point of watching a movie if you aren't gonna watch it? Every detail is important, every camera angle, every facial expression. You could listen all you want but if they give a visual cue to something happening you'll never know if you aren't watching. I know people who turn their backs on a movie and say "Oh I'm watching!" but they aren't. And then they missed something that was really quiet and were like "What happened?" <.< Annoys me to see people want to watch a movie and then intentionally look away saying they are still watching. You sat down to watch the movie, why would you then look away and not watch the movie? This applies to TV shows as well. If you are one of these types of people, know that I don't mean any offense. Another thing that gets me is when two people watch something they seem to wanna watch, but then they start having a conversation usually about something completely nonrelated, and I imagine that they can't possibly be able to pay much attention to the show. I go and visit and we all sit down to watch a horror or comedy movie and they look at their iPods and laptops and say "I'm watching". You gotta be submersed to get into horror and in comedy you could miss an unspoken punchline because they can happen in a second. All it takes is one second of looking away to miss something good and then people look back and say "it was boring" because they missed the good parts. Normally I am the guy who tries to get people to actually watch a movie, although sometimes movies excite my imagination enough that I have to stand up, walk it off, and reflect on it. It's so annoying to me not just from a logical point of view, but from an audience perspective too, as I am normally trying to watch the movie too. Also my soon to be step-sister listens to loud music and only skips to certain parts of movies to see certain actors. That just is nothing but annoying as well. My friend skips to all the scenes with Jacob Black in Twilight movies because she doesn't wanna see Edward. Doesn't help that the DVDs have a feature where they skip every scene but the ones with either Jacob or Edward in it. Here I am trying to watch them to see if I would hold any interest and she does that... Luckily I got her to sit through each movie at least once. If someone turns on the new Transformers or other bland action film I'll have it on as "background entertainment." Usually this happens when someone else wants to watch it. Example: My brother wanted to watch Green Lantern which I "watched" with him. I didn't stay glued to the screen. I browsed forums, played Xbox, texted on the phone, etc. I watched the main action scenes to see the cool special effects. I am overly critical and hate most modern films. However, if you played an old favorite of mine such as Star Wars (is and always will be just a trilogy), Back to the Future, A Clockwork Orange, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, etc. I'll actually pay attention for the whole film! As for TV shows haha you expect me to watch TV? Unless its The Walking Dead, Dr. Who, or of course MLP:FiM then I keep it on just for the extra noise! Yeah I don't have the Hub or any channel that play Dr. Who therefore I technically only watch one tv show on actual TV! I do tend to keep my television on AMC since they seem to play some alright films and good shows like Breaking Bad that I watch on occasion. I wish they still had good cartoons on TV (by this I mean that I get, I don't get Boomerang or Nicktoons Network to watch classics). The only cartoon these days I find watchable is Adventure Time! which even that can get on my nerves from time to time. How about a channel that plays cartoons like Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Batman the Animated Series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, My Little Ponies Friendship is Magic, Invader Zim, and others that I cannot remember right now! If the TV show holds my interest, I won't look away. If the TV show doesn't hold my interest, then I'll be multitasking or not even paying attention to it whatsoever. Cookie 28 November 21, 2011 Share November 21, 2011 Sometimes I like to turn on a Disney movie, because they have music and I know them all by heart because I've watched them SO many times, and have it playing in the background while I do my crafts. I only look up once in a while. Also, we've been watching a lot of Star Trek lately and while some episodes keep me enthralled, during others I am inclined to start folding origami or working on feathered hat pins. So yeah, for me it really depends. Anything new like How I Met Your Mother or Big Bang Theory or a movie that we haven't watched yet and I'm totally into it, not doing other things. Also, if I'm watching a movie with someone else I always pay attention. (unless it's my husband because well, he's my other half) I do think it's rude to go over to someones house to watch a movie and not actually watch it.
