"For now, we need to just get up. I hear this place once had a saloon and a food store area. Maybe we can look for some tea leaves and other consumables ?" Lunar asked to Tyra, giving her a smile, " It would also give us some time to chat, and it's rare that I get to meet another person, and especially rare I meet one from the north who isnt trying to chop me in half" He said, walking over too Tyra.

 

"Aye, I agree," Tyra nodded, grinning as Lunar walked up to her, "It has been too long since I have run into so many friendly faces."

 

"I hope this saloon has some cider left," she smirked, fanning herself with her hoof, "I could certainly use a drink! I am not used to such warm weather."

caliber looked at the hay with some disgust on his face, but he tried to hide it. 

 

"food was so much better back then..." he muttered, as he ate some. "there was this thing, called salad..." he started to describe salad to strider, as they got ready to leave. "i wonder, would we be able to grow some lettuce...?"

"I've heard of salad," Red said, rather amused, but a bit uninterested. Though she admired Strider and his love of history, she found it interesting and necessary to learn if she wanted to bring things back to the way they were, but not something to be passionate about. "And if you know how to run a farm, by all means, go become a hermit in the mountains and farm lettuce." She added, climbing up the stairs. She left the house, looking around. A tumbleweed passed by. There didn't seem to be anything around at all.

"Amazing, what ponies used to do before Tirek overthrew it all," Strider commented, a rather blissful smile on his face at imagining the 'salad'. "Something is simple as mixing different greens together... it sounds wonderful. It's no wonder to me, with such good food in the past that you would find it hard to adjust to... this." he said, gesturing at the hay and oats.

Strider chuckled at Red's comment, unable to imagine the fighting pony Caliber running away to farm lettuce. He followed her out of the house and glanced about, pulling a scroll out of his bag. He unrolled it, revealing a map of Equestria. "The Badlands are still a while away. Let's get started, then." Strider said, pointing out the direction they were to be headed in. "By, the way, I found your description of the sunrise enlightening. Did it really consistently rise in the east, every day, at a particular pattern?" he asked Caliber, enthusiastically.

Alex was in her own little world right now. Heart pumping, breath huffing, and her paws felt like they were lighter than air! This was the most fun she’d had in a long time! Well, at least since leaving the Galloping Gorge... There was hardly any fun to be had at... his house.

 

As she continued on her run, she did notice Amoré off on the side, but far too excited to see her saddened expression and continued off. She wanted to get rid of all this excess energy first before she started focusing on anything else.

"yeah, i mean, celestia would raise the sun. it would go in a straight line, across the sky, and set." caliber explained, "every year, she would even hold an event, where she demonstrated raising it."

"but...one question, though...if discords controlling the sun and moon right now, and celestia, luna, cadence, and twilight are all gone, who'll make sure the sun rises when we get rid of discord? and who'll raise the moon, in return?"

Radiant was at a full gallop and was right on Alex's tail when the two begun to approach Amoré. He noticed he saddened expression remembering that he never got to finish their conversation from the previous night due to the changeling patrol. 

 

Radiant began slowing with Alex increasing the gap quickly, it seemed she didn't even notice Radiant was down to a trot eventually stopping beside Amoré. As he stood there his breathing was slightly more rapid then usual, he took in a deep breath and exhaled managing to calm his breathing. Radiant turned to face Amoré and looked at her. "Still upset? we never finished our conversation last night if you'd like to get anything off your chest, I'm told I'm a good listener." He said still seeming rather apathetic, even though he didn't sound like it he did care about helping any he considered an ally.

Strider looked surprised at the question. "Well, actually, you're a good pony to ask that. I always thought that the princesses would return when the powers of Tirek and Discord were vanquished, but as I learn more and more about them, they seem more and more like normal ponies, just a little more powerful. " He glanced at Caliber. "It's a good point, one I don't know the answer to. However, I do know that Discord and Tirek need to be stopped, with or without the certainty of the princesses' return."

Alex was way in the lead now, running at a steady but fast pace, her sugar rush having gone through her system as was slowly started loosing energy. She hadn't even noticed that Radiant wasn't behind her anymore, though it would be hard to hear with the wind blowing past her ears.

 

Turning a corner to make her way back to the others, she noticed a group of three ponies further up ahead. With her ears perking to attention, she had a moment of panic as she tried to stop and, ahough Alex started slowing down, it was starting to look like she was going to crash into the group.

 

Hoping that wouldn't happen, she threw her paws out in front of her, causing the diamond dog to skid across the dirt road a few feet. Once she finally stopped moving, the forces of gravity and motion caused her to jerk forward, landing down her on her snout just inches away from the groups hooves with an "Oof!", clouds of dirt powdering the air around her. Slowly, she pushed herself back up onto her two hind legs and shook her head to get rid of the dirt that had started collecting in her fur.

Lunar nodded and walked up to the corner of the basement were the stairs were. He quickly hopped up the stairs with use of his wings and looked down. "It's not any better up here temperature wise" He said, looking into the remains of the town. It was a bit hot out this morning, but the big killer was the sun, he could feel it beat down him already. " If I remember, it should be at the center of the town.

 

He stepped out of the shelter after checking the local area for anyone, and smacked his beak with his tongue. He was thirsty, and all out of tea. If they didnt find anything, they would have to check for water at the old town well as well.

Red's eyes widened in surprise. As usual, had her sword out as she saw the diamond dog coming towards her. She dodged out of the way just in time. Buck, that dog is fast! What was a diamond dog doing here, so far away from their rumored homeland? She'd never even seen a diamond dog before!

But she could focus on that later. The dog had attacked her, and that was what currently mattered. She charged forward and struck at the dog, though it might not hit, considering how fast the dog was.

It took a moment for Strider to process the dog hurtling towards them, try in vain to slow down, and ultimately crash a couple of hoof-lengths away from Strider. "That was... odd," Strider said, composing himself. His eyes widened as Red charged the diamond dog--who was oddly adorable as she sat shaking her head, though he'd never thought he'd use the words 'adorable' and 'diamond dogs' in the same sentence. "Red!" he said sharply. "Calm down! She didn't mean to run at us like that!" which he was certain of, judging by the way she'd attempted to slow down.

Red stopped dead. Well, she always trusted Strider. He'd hardly ever been wrong about when to trust somepony-- or, something, in the dog's case-- but still, had he not seen the dog running towards them?

Her eyes narrowed at the dog, but she stopped the charge. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" she growled, attempting to be menacing. She felt very self-conscious of her height abruptly, as the dog stood about a head higher than her-- while sitting.

caliber's eyes widened when the dog appeared, and his sword was out in a flash. but the dog did stop...maybe it was friendly.

better safe then sorry.

 

he dashed to the dog's side, and pressed his sword to it's neck, ready to impale it. "now...where were you in such a hurry?" caliber asked, "and dont try lying..."

"I think that is it up ahead" Lunar said, trotting towards a large long building. IT had simple folding doors and the interior looked like it had what remained of tables and chairs, at least, what he could see from the outside. He looked to Tyra as they approached it  and was about to say something before he saw quite the site. " Oh for Luna's sake" He said drawing his Halberd. IT looked like Alex was being held up by some more bandits.

"Tyra, battle ready !" He shouted running up to the confrontation. He ran up to the group, and went up on his back legs, rising to his full height, and preparing his Halberd. He would have an advantage on the sword pony.

 

"You there ! Weapons down now ! Step away from her !" He shouted, his shield spiraling out into a defensive position.

Tyra perked up as the conflict was taking place nearby. She hadn't even heard Lunar's call to action; she was already going in.

 

She reached beneath her cloak and drew her axe, glaring icy cold daggers to the swordsbuck pointing his blade at Alex's neck.

"Remove the blade from her neck," she growled, "before I have you removing mine from your ribs."

 

An important lesson to learn around Tyra; do not mess with her allies.

Alex's ear's suddenly perked up at the sound of a sword being unsheathed, and, looking up, she saw an earth pony charging at her with a sword... and she had forgotten her knife... shoot. However, another pony from the group, a teal coated stallion spoke up, stopping her attacker in her tracks.

 

Before she could even catch her breath, she had another sword pointed at her throat, her eyes shooting wide in surprise at how fast her next attacker was... though then again, she wasn't quite prepared for him.

 

She was about to speak up, when she heard Lunar not to far away call out for battle. She turned as best she could with the sword pointed at her throat. "Lunar, Tyra... Hey." She replied, with a slightly timid smile. "Um... Though I appreciate you coming to help, uh... Could you maybe not do anything while I've got a sword to my n—" She was interrupted by Tyra yelling at her attacker to drop their weapon. "..Hoo boy..." She closed her mouth then, not sure what would come of all this tension next...

caliber registered the two ponies with weapons. 

 

he briefly wondered if he should use the diamond dog under him as a hostage, but that was below him.

 

"c'mon...ill take on both of ya..." he said, eyes developing a thirst for battle. "keep an eye on the dog, should she try anything funny."

 

he readied himself. "now...come at me!" he challenged them both, confidently. "lets see what your made of!"

 

he grinned.

Lunar narrowed his eyes on the swords pony. " There is little reason to fight, but I will defend myself if I must....but I suggest you dont, you are at a disadvantage by your weapon type" Lunar said to the swords pony, taking a battle position so his balance was good. He  lowered the Halberd into a battle position, " Now lower your weapons, and we will lower ours ! " Lunar shouted at them.

"if anything, you should lower your arms!" caliber called back at them. "you dont know who your dealing with!!"

 

okay. he had a point. he was outnumbered. but he's fought his way out of similar situations. he just has to fight harder.

 

"maybe if you lower your arms, and give me a cookie, we can talk this out!" he raised his sword again. "but im fine either way!"

At the mention of sugary treats, Alex perked up with a quick idea. "Um... Hey... Sword stallion... dude... um... I may not have cookies, uh... But I do have some cotton candy clouds in my satchel back at our shelter place..." She responded. "Would that possibly work well enough so that we can, ya know, just talk things out?" She didn't really want to see more confrontation so soon after last night. So hopefully she could find a way to talk this out.

Tyra, feeling frustrated by the blistering heat and this stallion's lack of rationality, let out an exasperated groan.

 

"Sleipnir's mane, I have no patience for this!" She roared, advancing on the swordspony. She lowered her head and charged right for him, to headbutt him away from Alex.

caliber looked at her. "i love cotton candy." he said, as he helped her up. "but, your comrades drew their weapons on me. so, its either they back down, or we fight." he said happily.

 

"YOU HEAR THAT!?" he shouted at the other ponies. "now, are we gonna fight or not?! cause im all fired up!"

 

tyra charged, and he grinned. he did a front-flip over her. since she was so short, it was easy. while he was doing the flip, he swung his sword in a vertical slash, aiming for her back.

"My young friend, you drew your sword on one of our friend first, held them up without good reason, and threatened them with death, your reasoning is faulty" Lunar then looked to Alex and smiled, "But she is right ! those clouds are pretty good ! " Lunar said, " so maybe we can all go there and try some, if you  will show you are friendly" Lunar said. This Swords pony seemed hot headed, something he could use. IF he didnt stand down it would be Lunar's goal to end this with little harm done to everyone.
