Banned because that doesn't matter; Nightmare moon happened because Luna was feeling lonely and unappreciated, and Sunbutt only acted when it was already too late to talk Luna back down from the edge.

The very next time we see Luna, she is *still* feeling lonely and unappreciated, and it is down to Twi and gang to socialize Luna, and get the foals of Ponyville to show she IS appreciated, even if only as a part of the festivities.

Next time we see Luna with the mane 6, we see she is indulging in self-harm - having created the tantabus to punish herself endlessly for her failures as Nightmare Moon, and again it is the Mane 6 who step up to the plate.

And of course with Glimglam in Royal Problem, we see Sunbutt being openly dismissive of Luna's duties.

I DO get it - given the empathy she shows to Twi and her other pupils (such as Sunset, or even Sunburst), it is more likely that the bickering you often get between siblings has gotten out of hand, so she doesn't realise how badly she is acting (and Luna isn't much better, going by the Royal Problem accusations) but she SHOULD do better, and for her subjects she DOES do better, just not for Luna.
