Procrastination

Ahhh. I have an essay due (my final homework for the school year) on Monday, and I only have an intro. I have some examples to use from my primary source, but none of my ideas are organized. It looks like I'll be dedicating my whole day to that tomorrow.

This probably isn't my worst procrastination bout, but it's pretty bad.

Here's your question: What was your worst case of procrastination?

Procrostination: Being able to do one hours of work in 4 weeks, and 4 weeks of work in one hour

I successfully fended off the Procrostination bug a few years ago, after I realized how stressed out I was getting about papers.

The trick is to give yourself time off, but never too much time off. I usually give myself a 20 minute break after every hour of work, but I'm sure it works differently for every person.

The worst case of procrastination for me is when I'm on the Internet all the time and realise that the work I haven't touched yet is due tomorrow. It used to happen all the time.

As of now I'm still trying to beat procrastination, although it isn't as worse as what it was a year ago.

I have had a habit of procrastinating my whole life. Whether it be when I had school work to do or something, I'd always procrastinate and wait until the last moment. Now, I want to try my hardest to turn that around and fix that once and for all.

A presentation i was tasked with about a year ago, that should've taken me about a couple weeks of organizing. Totally blanked about it, then crammed it all in one day. It turned out okay in the end, almost got me a perfect grade, too.

If I put as much time into my work as I do procrastinating, I'd probably have a Doctorate by now.

I can't think of my worst example of this, just that the longer time I have to actually work on a project, the more I seem to put it off til the last minute. Two week? Oh, I'll get it done by the day before. A month or more? End up hammering something out an hour before class.

Good things come to those who wait.

That is all.

I was actually never a procrastinator in school.  When they'd assign a big project over a break, I would grind the whole thing and finish it that Friday evening.  F*ck those bastards, they're not gonna ruin my whole break with this project looming over my head!

The worst was those P.E. break projects.  Did anyone else have to do those?  They'd make you keep track of your exercise and right down everything you did and for how many minutes, etc.  What a bunch of crap.  I would fill out those entire worksheets with lies during the very next class period.  Thing is, I was always physically active during breaks.  I'd run and bike and go on hikes.  But I'm not gonna spoil my fun by keeping track of all the minutes.  Way to suck the fun out of life, you jerks.

Sorry, that got way off topic.  I do tend to procrastinate nowdays a lot more, because I'm depressed and lonely.  I have trouble finding the motivation to do anything.

I've always been a big procrastinator, but the worst case happened during my freshman year of high school. In my area, we received a ton of snow that year, which meant school was cancelled constantly. To not have us stay until the end of June, the school administration came up with Blizzard Bags. These bags were distributed in every class and contained 6 hours worth of packets (mind you this is for each class. I took 6 classes that year, so I had 36 hours of work due at the end of the week). I had so much work that I procrastinated. Let's just say I didn't get everything done. Thankfully the school realized the Blizzard Bags were dumb, so they never had them again.

I once finished a seven page essay five hours before it was due, start to finish.

I always procrastinate and I do my assignments at the last second lol :D One essay was supposed to be 1 page log I only wrote 1/3 of the page and increased the font so it filled the page :D

Lucky. All my assignments are MLA format, so I can't get away with changing the font.

I procrastinate a lot. The worst is that it's not because of the Internet or video games, sometimes I just lay in my bed and lose myself in my thoughts instead of working...

And this year is supposed to be the most important of my life. ;~;

UPDATE: After nearly 24 hours since I started this post, I have finally finished my 5 and a half page essay! Completing it all in one day, this marks one of my greatest achievements this year! Although nothing can beat me reading all of The Odyssey in ONE DAY and then doing all of the work for the book and another, all done the day before the first day of school. Ah, what a great first day.

I should probably sleep. It's almost 2 AM and I have school tomorrow XD

My biggest case was leaving an entire years worth of coursework to the last week

#MadTypingSkillsYeah

I'm currently procrastinating sleep even though I haven't slept since Saturday night (About 50ish hours away now)

Also procrastinate revision to the morning before the exam. Still get alright grades tho :P

I'm a terrible person

  • 6 years later...

In high school I skimmed through our summer reading assignment and wrote the report on it in four days (got an A), and in college I waited until the day before a research paper was due before I even started it (I think it was a paper about diesel engines) and got a 98, to name a couple examples. I'm a chronic procrastinator and still haven't learned my lesson because it always works out in the end :P
