music Playing guitar?

Ok I always wanted to learn how to play guitar but I know it takes a lot of time. Does anyone play guitar here and also how long does it take to learn estimated time anyways. I think it would be awesome if I could play an electric guitar.

I play guitar. I've been practicing for about five years, and I'm still not really good at it.

The time it takes depends on the person, and you never really can finish learning guitar. It's a process that continues as long as you are a musician.

It took me 4 years to learn how to play...not badly :D It's not easy(if you don't have talent) but with hard work you can learn within[insert desired year] playing on it.

Joke aside, it depends on how many hours you want to spend per day practicing on it.

I can play a few songs but I am not that great honestly. I really ought to practice more than I do that's for sure. The best way to learn to start playing is learning how to play the basic chords first. Tabs can help out with learning too. Pick out a song you really like and find the tabs for that song. Keep trying to practice with those tabs until you feel comfortable enough to play. Also I strongly recommend learning and practicing the pentatonic blues scale. This will help with speed and precision helping with you memorizing the frets. Def. once you start getting better with playing try getting a metronome to practice with to learn to play in time.

Reading music is another practice in itself though.

I've yet to actually buy a guitar to start learning but as with anything your pace is going to be different from others. You could pick up on it quick or you may never be able to play more than a few basic melodies.

Anyone will tell you one thing though: Practice and imitate. Find some videos on Youtube and copy what they do. If you need something more basic there's videos out there to teach you the "for dummies" version of guitar as well.

There's no set time it takes to learn any one thing and you could spend months or even years improving and never be as good as you want to be but that's a part of being an artist of any sort. Be ready for the long haul.

There's this really AWESOME game called Rocksmith.  You should really check it out.  It's a game you can get for PC/Mac, PS3/4, Xbox, etc.  You plug in an actual guitar into your device and the game literally teaches you how to play guitar.

It's the way I learned how to play and it's extremely effective. It's very fast too, and very fun.

I can not stress my love for this game enough.

Check out the trailer here:
