There are significant drawbacks to some races.  Figure they can do their things here.  You would need significant practice to fly well as a flying creature, but could eventually manage it.

Because it is not a common race.  You are stuck in whatever common form you get on earth.  If you chose pegasus like the person above, you could eventually learn to fly, but your video game playing days are done.

I'd rather be able to fly than play video games. Alicorns may not be common but they are, in fact, a race, and the OP said nothing about it having to be a common race.

It is in there, in the actual poll question, and the choices do not have Alicorn either. 

 

If you wanted to fly AND use a controller, Griffon might be a better choice.  They have 3+1 claws in the way we have 4+1 fingers.

You got me there, I made it into the last few years of the 80's, but nothing that I can remember 

 

Even if I can't control the weather (still wouldn't stop me trying XD), at least I could soar above the clouds on an overcast day (read: normal British day)
