Opinion On Spike Girl Dragon Love Interest Idea?

I think the best option for Spike would be Mina.

 

She's already an established character in the franchise, so it wouldn't exactly be coming from out of nowhere.

I think the main issue with Spike's crush on Rarity will never be anything more than that: a one way crush that's never going to be met even at EoS. If nothing else, the fact that nothing romantic happened between them by the end of season 3 (which was originally meant to be EoS until Hasbro decided to continue it due to popular demand) is an indication that writers really don't want to go further in that direction, and now we have Larson expressing interest over a knock-off which inspires the inclusion of a female dragon around Spike's age. Besides the obvious issue that Rarity is a completely different species from Spike, it would be better for Spike to have a counterpart that's around his own age regardless of whether or not she's to be a romantic interest for him.

Personally, if I were to ship Spike with a female dragon, I would go with this gal from Friends Forever issue 14.
