Parties like Pinkie 385 April 15, 2012 Share April 15, 2012 it's OK as long as they have a good reason for doing so I agree completely, for example I started a thread about "letting off some steam" and they locked it because there was already another thread like it. I don't hate them for it, because it's their job to do so, it prevents the forums from being cluttered. 1 Cred it to DragonShy for the AWESOME sig!! :3 Ali Finish-- http://mlpforums.com...ali-finish-r145 Nyx Morton-- http://mlpforums.com...nyx-morton-r860 Codax Steel-- http://mlpforums.com...odax-steel-r954

Marcato 2,143 April 15, 2012 Share April 15, 2012 I have only had one or two threads locked down before, and i felt basically the same way everyone else did. I screwed up, i displeased them, etc. Really you have no need to worry. It happens all the time, and it will just make you more careful next time. 1 ~Relax and enJOY life. MasterCombine 316 April 15, 2012 Share April 15, 2012 I feel crushed, destroyed. I feel as if all my preconceptions about what is right and wrong have been torn asunder. Any hope that I may have had for the future dies with the thread. I question my existence, why I'm even here in the first place. As that lock slams shut, dooming my thread to a void of eternal un-life, everything unravels before me. WhiteLightning 339 April 15, 2012 Share April 15, 2012 Depends on it. If they have a valid reason to do so, and that reason is given to me when they lock/move it, no problem. Sometimes I disagree when a topic gets moved/locked, for example, in the Life Advice forums. It seems wrong to me to just lock a topic when they're clearly not done discussing the topic or comforting/giving advice to the creator of it.... Founder Twilight Sparkle ✨ 8,526 April 15, 2012 Founder Share April 15, 2012 We lock, move, hide, delete, and edit threads routinely for a plethora of reasons, though it all comes down to improving the user experience at the end of the day. Threads are moved when they're in the wrong section, and either locked or merged (depending on the quality of each thread) if they are duplicates. They are locked, hidden, deleted, or sentenced to Cloudsdale if we feel they will attract spammy replies that don't add much value to the site, or have the potential to be (or have already become) unnecessary drama magnets. Sometimes, we make minor edits to topic titles for SEO, which improves our ranking in search engines - a major source of new members. You should never take any moderative actions personally, as moderators perform them for the good of the site, and never out of spite for you. Please never forget this. Tenor Clef 112 April 15, 2012 Author Share April 15, 2012 That would be funny if he did lock it haha. But I'm not whining or complaining. Some of my threads get locked and I get reasons and it's all cool. I just figured since this is general discussion, this may be a topic for people to discuss, you know? Klopp 2,050 April 15, 2012 Share April 15, 2012 I'm not calling anyone out, I assure you. I just haven't seen another thread like it. I'm also not asking for advice. I'm just saying I feel kinda discouraged and a little embarrassed and asking you how you feel and why. There is no need to feel embarrased or discouraged, everypony on the forums makes a mistake at one point or another. As long as your intent was not to disrupt the forums, then we honestly do not care much. In most cases, it's simply a matter of organization and to remove unnecessary clutter. Threads are moved simply because they are in the wrong designated section, which is precisely why I created the Ultimate MLP Fourms Posting Guide (Which I would like to encourage all members to read). Just imagine what the forums would look like if we did not move threads to their proper locations. We would have ponies in Everfree Forest, artless threads in Octavia's Hall, and video game discussion in Episode Discussion! If we were not to move threads around to keep things organised, we wouldn't need to even have sections. Just have one forum for posting whatever you feel like, and good luck finding what your looking for. Threads are locked for multiple reasons, the most common being duplicates. There is no need to have two seperate threads discussing possible CMC Cutiemark possibilities. So we either merge them or lock them, depending on how many posts are in the topic usually. Another reason we lock threads is because they are simply pointless. So many times have a seen a thread that simply asks "When is the next pony episode?" or even "Anyone wanna play LoL?" These sorts of topics are completely pointless, and could simply have been status updates. We have thousands of threads spanning the forums already, and something unworthy of discussion is only going to cause clutter. I see Feld0 has already said this while I was typing away, but there is no reason to take our actions personally. I, for one, don't even consider the user when dealing with a report or a mistake I found (Unless they are a constant offender, which is a rarity on the forums) I just simply take the action that is necessary to keep the forums as good a quality as possible. Sometimes I feel threads are locked or move wrongly/unnecessarily . ~ No thread is locked or moved without a reason, and I would be glad to provide you with mine if you were to simply ask for it. I've got no reason to keep it away from you, and I and if I try then you can suspect shenanigans, in which case Feld0 will take away around 20 or so Feldian points.

Killian Jones 2,655 April 15, 2012 Share April 15, 2012 Just remember, a lot of actions can be undone. Moving it away to the wrong place means it can be moved back, a locked thread can be unlocked. Rarely do moderative actions have permanent repercussions. Anything can be discussed, clarified and changed. Don't worry about it too much.
Discordian 6,015 April 15, 2012 Share April 15, 2012 Kinda depends on what's being moved but I get rather annoyed when a topic I INTEND to be separate from a main topic, especially when it's on a totally different point than the main topic, gets merged with bigger main topics. I mean, I understand why they do it but it doesn't change the fact that I intended for it to be standalone in the first place because it holds a different point. Good thing is that here on MLPforums is the only place I got my own topic UNmerged. Other forums wouldn't do that. I don't remember what topic it was but I asked Feld0 to unmerge it because of the separate point and he did it, twas rather nice of him.
DrOphthalmos 497 April 15, 2012 Share April 15, 2012 Thus far, I have seen every mod behave professionally and respectfully. I have not seen a real mod ever belittle the person with phrases like "I wish you would use the search function before starting such a cliche thread" or something like that. I have lots of respect for them in large part because they know how to respect us. That makes this forum a very enjoyable place.
