Brohoofing ettiquette

Is it considered polite on these forums to give sympathy brohooves to unhappy people, or does it have the same connotations as 'likes' on facebook?

You brohoof what you want to brohoof. I've seen a handful of users who brohoof just about every reply to a thread, while people like me only brohoof posts that are really awesome. It's all up to you!

Personally, I try to not brohoof when people say that something bad happened with them, it might give the impression that I am happy for that. But I understand that it may mean instead "I'm here" or "I feel for you".

But this is just my personal policy, there are no "unwritten rules" I know about.

Me, I tend to brohoof posts that I really like, made a thought provoking or intellectual post, or ones where someone is really expressing what they really enjoy. I do not like brohoofing every post, I feel like that lowers value of my brohoofs and I think it would make my brohoofs seem dis-genuine.

Personally I brohoof what I like but it can also be thought of as a confirmation of having read and acknowledged what you wrote. So really a brohoof is what you want it to be however, in real life a brohoof is a greeting and online it is more of I see what you wrote bro.

There are different brohoofs for different situations, including sad ones. It should be obvious what everyone means when they send a brohoof and I don't expect anyone is going to send a big smiley face when someone experiences misfortune.
