I've been busier for the past nine days or soy. Not so busy that I couldn't post, but it has been at a greatly reduced frequency - my apologies.

 

I'll see what I can put out now, and I can manage another on Wednesday evening. Possibly Friday evening after that, Sunday evening should be easy to manage, and then most likely Monday evening. Does that sound like a plan? In fact, would a posting a schedule for each week help?

 

As for when everyone else posts, I try to be as flexible as possible - real life happens all the time.

Ok, 31 minutes late, but the Wednesday post is up. The next post will be on Friday (~70% chance) followed by Sunday (~95% chance.) If a particular character does not react (i.e. no post) then I will either have them blend into the background and do nothing or have them act in what I judge to be an appropriate manner (usually in a fairly minor role.) 

 

I'm experimenting with choice of how much knowledge is known in the OOC section. It should be apparent, when relevant, but I give several spoilered chunks of information and the recipient can choose how much they (and / or) their character knows.

A missed post more represents missed opportunities than a serious issue. If you can only manage to post so often then that's fine - post whenever you can.

I'm afraid I missed the Friday post - I got about half of it done, but I decided it needed more work. Sorry about that. Next post will be on Sunday.

Ok, that was the Sunday post. Depending on the number and length of responses, I may do another post on Monday evening (transition to the observatory, most likely) followed by Wednesday, or possibly just one on Tuesday if I need to make a longer post (Albion answers more questions etc.) In either case, the post after that will be on Friday (which I shouldn't be busy on this time) and then Sunday again.

I actually came up with the idea and used it in a pen-and-paper RP before I knew about Tirek, so I never thought to include that in the 'mechanics', although now you've pointed it out I definitely will in the future.... I can work this in. One moment.

With how you worded the PM I went ahead and helped Zayoh to the lab, figured you would want me to wait for weds just to have him taken down the corridors which would dwindle his work time along with slow down the group. 

 

If you prefer I can alter the post and let you take the transition. Because I'm also not sure if lavender would of wanted to joined or not being an alchemist but she seemed to have her mind locked in conversation with itself so seemed she missed the comment to Zayoh.

This goes for everyone; for now you have the run of the castle, and can go pretty much wherever you please. Some areas, such as the airdock or the cells, I will have some additional text for, but feel free to manage the transition and get started on whatever your character wants to do there. To make things even faster you can PM me with where you want to go, and I can describe anything important that's happening there which you can include in your subsequent post whilst your character goes about their business, but that isn't necessary.

Ok, I'm going to implement a limited-time mechanic at this point, as well as summarising the options suggested so far and what sort of RP they will lead to.

 

There are five days between the sun rising and the demons reach Canterlot - if you haven't stopped them or found an alternative by that point then Catalyst will be detonated as-is (this can be regarded as a 'bad ending'.) Regardless of what happens (almost), the RP will then end, with a short epilogue to explain what happens next - leaving options for a sequel open, if desired. 

 

You have used up the morning of day one in Canterlot, and if you wish you can spend the rest of the day in Canterlot preparing - brewing potions, acquiring gear, finding others that might be helpful and persuading them to join you, that sort of thing.

 

The options that I have seen so far boil down to the following (do correct me and point out any I have missed) :

 

1. Find Malu. This will involve searching through Canterlot for a secretive cult and its sinister master.

2. Find Tirek. A voyage into Tartarus - expect a 'Jason and the Argonauts' type adventure, as well as a scenic cruise through Tartarus. Remember to bring dog biscuits.

3. Capture one of the alicorn-demons. You will need to snatch one from the middle of their army, or find a way to lure one away, all whilst being hunted by their minions. 

4. Kill or purge the three alicorn-demons. Much the same as the above, but without the risks involved in taking them alive.

5. Find Twilight Sparkle and her research. A trip back to Ponyville, then following her trail from there. You will learn more about the events that occured in Ponyville, and what lead up to them. Be aware that the king will not be pleased to see Twilight back... if you can even persuade her to return.

 

You can pursue several of these objectives, although you will not have time for all of them. The spoiler below will give a little more information about the potential outcomes, but not too much.

 

Option 5, and whether you persuade Twilight to return or not, will have the largest impact on the post-RP Equestria, although that will depend on how you handle the situation.

 

 

Ambitious? Certainly, but we'll see how this plays out. If it works well (or even just works passably) then I will probably run a sequel in a similar way, so feedback will be most welcome at all points. I may also do a write-up / novelisation of the whole affair on FiMfiction, so if anyone objects to that then please say so.

Wilhelm knew Twilight Sparkle well, not personally, but certainly as a fellow scientist; they worked together a few times. 

 

He would likely want to go after her based on emotional impact, but his rationality would try and convince him to go after Tirek.

In terms of the progression of time, the Friday post will cover the afternoon of Day 1.

 

*At the moment it's slightly in favour of going after Twilight and her notes, with a full vote from Scarlett and a can-be-persuaded from Wilhelm.

Going after Tirek has Wilhelm's vote, going after the three alicorns (kill / purge) going after Twilight is Sharp's vote (based on last post.) Zayoh abstains.

 

In light of this, going after Twilight in the hope that she can be persuaded to lead the group to Tirek can be considered an option, as can trying to attack the alicorns whilst on the way to or from Ponyville.

I say a mix of all of those options. Go after Twilight to persuade her to lead the group to Tirek to convince Wilhelm, then actually convince her to return to the throne and give us her notes instead. While we're flying to Ponyville, see if either I) the airship has cannons or II) the airship can have cannons installed and airstrike the alicorn-demons as we're flying past. Load the cannons with a mix of pure silver on an iron base, and douse it with the Equestrian equivalent of holy water before firing the silver/iron shell.
