KillerKingBakudan 702 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 With the exception of a zebra and a few donkeys, every equine in the show, no matter how old they get, is just a pony. Even Troubleshoes counts as a pony, and he's huge. If Flight to the Finish can make the suggestion that actual, full-grown horses exist in Equestria, where are they? No questions asked. Jokuc 8,174 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 Well it is a magical land where no one becomes a horse.. They're all ponies and they will never become horses. I think horses are seen as a different race there
GuyNamedEarl 1,332 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 Equestria is the land of ponies, and each kingdom has its own race, so there could be a land of horses, like the two from Saddle Arabia 1 Creator of MLP Ruined Vines and Recorder Sh*t Equestria's Biggest Hip-Hop Nerd Everyday is Leg Day! Castle Bleck 19,380 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 Actual horses only exist in the EQG universe, as seen in one RR short with Sunset and AJ. By @Emerald Heart.↑
Jeric 46,860 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 Saddle Arabia looks to be a good bet. We know that based on Pony vernacular that they exist somewhere.
Wicked Skies 24 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 (edited) Ponies are horses... A definition I found: Pony foals are smaller than horse foals, but both have long legs and small bodies. For many forms of competition, the official definition of a pony is a horse that measures less than 14.2 hands (58 inches, 147 cm) at the withers. Horses are 14.2 or taller. Saying a pony is not a horse is like saying a someone of Asian decent isn't human because of their height and ethnicity. Daring_Do 552 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 Even Troubleshoes counts as a pony, and he's huge. Is the only source for that Big Jim's tweet, where he said Troubleshoes was the biggest pony they'd designed for the show? (Might not have seen the tweet myself, but I've heard about it). If so... I'm not sure whether to take his "pony" literally or not. Jim could've been lumping him in with the ponies for the sake of the comparison. He was called Troubleshoes "Clyde" before the episode (in the synopsis, at least) and, as a good number of folks have pointed out, he does look an awful lot like a Clydesdale horse (absolutely massive breed of draft horse, known for being the Budweiser horses). Then again, there might be a reason he wasn't called "Clyde" in the actual episode... Could be they once meant for him to be a Clydesdale horse (not a pony), but changed their mind for whatever reason.
S.F. 1,560 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 I'd say the Saddle Arabians looked more like horses than ponies, I wonder if they have pegasi and unicorns too *Insert deep, intelligent and witty signature here*

Hence my use of quotations. I'm asking where all the 14.2 hand and above ones are. No questions asked.
cider float 2,538 August 11, 2015 Share August 11, 2015 I suppose they're just all called ponies for simplicity sake or maybe the ponies are more tiny than we thought and Trouble shoes is just shy of 14.1 hands and the other ponies are smaller and everything we see in Equestria is scaled down. HollyDawg 0 August 11, 2015 Share August 11, 2015 Helo! I'm new here and this is ma first post but anyways , In the MLP FIM universe its specially targeted at ''ponies'' but if ponies do become horses , we hav'ent seen some evidence on that. Though the closest we've seen apart from Zecora the zebra and all the yaks would be the ones from Saddle Arabia. I reccommend watching this video from The Brony Notion on youtube. He makes really good videos on questions and has proof and quite something. Here is the link to his video: My Little Horses? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkqcK4fOLag I hope this answered your question!

Well, according to the internet... In modern use, many organizations define a pony as a mature horse that measures less than 14.2 hands (58 inches, 147 cm) at the withers, but there are a number of exceptions.[...]Many breeds classify an animal as either horse or pony based on pedigree and phenotype, no matter its height. Some full-sized horses may be called ponies for various reasons of tradition or as a term of endearment.

Gah, you suck, I was just going to say this. Ye, the closest in the show to real horses, regarding size (without being an Alicorn), and general shape, would be the visitors from Saddle Arabia. || Ponysona || Ask Me Anything || Johari Window || Twitch || Gamer Stuff ||
