Your thoughts on alicorns...

This past day I have started to warm up to the thought of the mane six becoming alicorns.

And yes, I would love more information and lore! The more information and lore that you have, the easier it is to write a story that sticks to the canon MLP universe.

But they haven't really shown anything in the show special and concrete for those: Compare how Season 1 took a good amount of time to talk about Pegasi abilities like cloudwalking, or how they talked about unicorn magic.

I'd like a little more clarification about Earth ponies since they seem kind of scattered in what they mean in regards to earth pony magic.

 

 

 

 

There was; in the episode with Tirek, it was clearly shown that he could take earth pony strength. Since all ponies have some element of strength, it was obvious that earth pony strength is something special, akin to unicorn magic and pegasus flight.

I don't want any more alicorns to appear.  I'd prefer to see them in the role of the standard fantasy elder race, slowly passing from the world to make room for the younger races and leaving behind a very few to watch over the youngsters as they develop, with the transformations of Cadance and Twilight being blips in an otherwise inexorable downward trend.

Alicorns shouln't be anymore than 4, 'cause another one is useless: Celestia moves the sun, Luna the moon, Cadance and Twilight both represents 2 things very important to life (Friendship and Love), but we don't need another one. We didn't even need more than 2 really

I'd rather not see any more alicorns in the show. They're clearly special, and adding more would just take the appeal away from it. I'd like to see more canon backstory to them, though. I'd like to see how a pony could become one. I know we've seen Twilight turn into one. Cadence's backstory isn't confirmed to be canon (to my knowledge, at least). We don't know much about Celestia's and Luna's backstories. They might've been born as alicorns, but that's too boring for me.

I want everybody to become an alicorn. Earth ponies? Alicorns. Zebras? Alicorns. Buffalo? Alicorns.

Well if celestia and Luna have reasons to exist, there's no reason another alicorn that watches over another part of the world like the ocean/tides/ect. or another aspect of the physical world couldn't exist.

I do wonder about that too.

We may get one in the 2017 movie, but he'd be a villain (based on the sony emails), and kind of dislike the one male you see of a race being evil

I'd rather hope they'd declare the book's backstory for cadence's ascension non-canon: its pretty honestly terrible, and seems to imply that really all you need to do to become an alicorn and get a bunch of magic in one spot and zap yourself with it.

I think the odds of that happening are roughly less than a golfish surviving in bourbon at this point. (I'd enjoy seeing it, but I think they'd have started to do some foreshadowing or at least trying to develop the other 5 some at this point if they were going to do so)

Alicorns are meant to be special. They embody the unity of the three pony tribes. That is why they are so powerful. I would love to see some canonical lore about alicorns. I do not want to see the show make the alicorns as numerous as the other types of ponies, as it would lessen the impact of their special nature.
