general media John Cena To Tie Ric Flair's Title Record In 2016

I kind of expected this as early as 2013, which dosen't make it any less painful. But Cena can never be seen as big of a legend, as Slick Ric.

Flairs career was one of a kind and he won those titles during the course of a 40 year career. He wrestled guys like "handsome" Harley Race, Ricky "the dragon" Steamboat, Kerry von Erich, Vader, Sting, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, etc. all of them, which can be considered Legends today.

Cena won his titles in the last 10 years, in an era where the territories are dead and the term "professional Wrestling" is frowned upon in WWE.

Cena can win another 15 times, but that won't make him "the man."

John Cena is not in the same league as legends like Ric Flair, Sting, Hulk Hogan, The Rock & Stone Cold Steve Austin.

He doesn't deserve to hold the title that many times.

John Cena hasn't had memorable classic matches like all these guys have had.

John Cena doesn't even deserve to be on the box of the legendary Fruity Pebbles.

I find it fascinating that people are discussing this like WWE is real... These matches are set up and faked. One of the old people who used to work for WWE created a book called "Controversy Creates Cash" and WWE still follows that policy. Guys, the more you don't like the idea, the more they are going to do it because it'll be more controversial then. There is nothing professional about WWE, it's all acting which I'm sure I'm not saying anything that no one didn't already know but still, the "record" doesn't even mean anything because these people don't "really" fight.

That being said, John Cena is admired by their young fans, so it's pretty obvious that they are pushing for him. He is involved in so much with kids that he's a positive role model. Of course the WWE wants to push him as the face of the WWE by giving him this title.

Well in that case, i say there is nothing professional about being a movie star, because movies are also fake.

You're correct. Being a movie star is not really a competition of legitimate challenge unless you are scaling how well people can act I suppose.

Except most of his haters actually respect him for that, just not his "Super Cena"-ness.

Controversy. That's where all the cheddar is, mate.

Being a pro wrestler does need years of training though. It already starts with the basics, like falling down correctly and then goes up to ring psychology and choreography, because Wrestling follows a certain pattern. It's like an advanced form of a stage play in my eyes. It's not as predictable as a normal hollywood movie, where you know that the good guy beats the bad guy at the end. Wrestling is so much more for me and it's also a much more risky business then being a movie star, because the risk of injuring yourself and ending your career is way higher. But they still do that, because they like what they do and they like to entertain the fans.

That's atleast how i feel about Wrestling.

My point was that the competition isn't legitimate because the results are pre-determined. Thus any titles really don't mean anything.

That's only half correct. It's true, from a legit sport standpoint, these titles don't really mean anything. BUT, you have to be a great performer in the ring and a very hard worker week after week, to earn the spot at the top. Or else, you might wind up in the undercard and get jobbed every week.

I can concede to that at the very least.
