gaming Rareware Topic

A topic dedicated to one of the famous developers from the N64/PS1/Saturn era. Are there some other gamers around here who still play their games, like Bajo-Kazooie or GoldenEye 007?

I played a tonne of the rereleased version of perfect dark before my xbox broke a few months ago. Honestly still holds up pretty well (I know thats partially nostalgia but : P)

N64 was pretty much my childhood xD

Donkey Kong Country, Banjo Kazooie, Killer Instinct, Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, Rareware was a god of many genres. And also one of the gods of my childhood. XD To that, I salute thee Rareware. At least we have Rare Replay now. Been playing through Conker for the first time and that game is a pure masterpiece and then some. o_o We just do not get gaming companies like Rareware nowadays. It is, *ahem* a Rare thing indeed.

All the goodness :pinkie:.

But the original staff of Rareware is back as Playtonic Games with a new platformer called Yooka-Laylee (they received 2 million pounds from kickstarter).

Grew up loving most of their games from Nintendo like the DKC games, Starfox Adventures, Jetforce Gemeni, Goldeneye, and the like. Never tried their M$ games though I kinda want to give Kameo a try

The Donkey Kong Country series was a huge part of my childhood, as were Donkey Kong 64 (which I'm currently working on completely completing ^^' Only lacking 5 bananas and a fairy now >->' Ofc on the good old N64. Once I get a Wii U it's going to be the first game I get for that as well. Because I've wanted that game to be re-released for as long as I can remember now.) and Diddy Kong racing.

Would also love to get my dirty paws on Conker's bad fur day, but I guess that's not going to happen any time soon xD

It's just a shame it all had to end the way it did... *Sob*

Kameo is quite good actually. I have been playing through it again thanks to Rare Replay and it is a lot better than I remember. It has aged fairly well for the most part. For a 360 launch game, it is really impressive, I would give it a try sometime. :) I also would recommend Viva Pinata if that would be your cup of tea, I consider that one to be a modern Rare classic. ^__^

Do you have a N64? There are still enough second hand gamestores who sell Conker's Bad Fur Day.

That Microsoft took them over? Most of the people who worked at Rareware resigned after being taken over by Microsoft.

As I said earlier, they're back as Playtonic Games.

I never played Kameo, but I have no problem to give it a change :).

I do. In my case the problem is mainly that I live out in the middle of nowhere where there are no gamestores at all. Yup, I check the internet, but it'd seem like all the local sites only have it when I don't have money to spare for it. My typical luck >->'

It still meant the end of Rare (and Donkey Kong) as we knew it. I know that they're back -now-, but that still doesn't really change the fact that (for me) they've been gone for like... ~16 years?

I -am- happy that they're back tho and I'm really looking forward to Yooka-Laylee.

If you can't find anywhere to buy them you can always emulate them. Some games work pretty well on pc

Only games I've found awkward are fps'

Going through zelda atm.  Only issue is getting used to the controls. (Can change them to make them less awkward. C buttons are in a bit of a weird position)

You're not the only one who miss the old Rareware. Look how angry the Nintendo fans where when they heard about the take over. Don't forget that Microsoft also had a bad reputation, and they got that back thanks to the Xbox One spectacle and launch.

Me too .
