@@J.R.,

Once the trail started to get more sparse, Snowstorm's ears perked up and twitched as he listened for obvious signs of an ambush or the sound of Sederia's voice. Still, he followed the trail.

@@Unicorncob, (He's still using Ember's body, but I'm using masculine pronouns from now on.)

Mni hopped back after landing his fourth hit, pushing backwards with his crimson wings to create plenty of distance. He'd managed to make one on each of Jade's front legs, one on her lower chest, and one to the neck. The muscle soreness only seemed like a minor issue at first, but "Ember" started to giggle as Jade's muscles started to tense up and cramp horribly, eventually feeling like unmoving stone!

"You know, I gave myself a challenge." Mni said, no longer speaking with Ember's feminine voice. "I wanted to see if I could beat you without having to use my true form." He bragged. The tip of his right hoof started to glow as he did something strange. He pressed his hoof to his own wrist and sliced it carelessly. Hot, red blood began to gush out at an alarming rate. "This fight is already over. Observe." He said before flinging his leg forward, sloshing a blanket of blood onto Jade while her muscles were too rigid and weak to dodge. The blood started to congeal at the spots where she'd been stricken, creating four, identical, red runes on her chest, front legs, and neck.

The runes glowed brightly before becoming opaque black symbols. It felt like all the strength in Jade's muscles was being taken away, making her feel labored just to remain standing.

As Mni finished wrapping up his self-inflicted wound, he gave a hearty laugh and explained, "Ember strider's dirty little trick: The Mark of Death!"

She could already hear Master Xiang's voice in her head, reprimanding her for even looking ready to give up. This wasn't how he trained her.

She was too strong to be beaten like this.

She took a laboured step forward, panting heavily and her vision blurring in and out of focus. It felt like Tartarus just standing up, but she had to prove she wasn't weak.

She got closer and closer to Mni, and even attempted to raise her hoof for a strike.

"Yes, five million...My stamp should be in the first drawer to your left...Yes, good, and when you're done, send a second check to the Bangcolt Guard.  Same value, and make sure my name is on both.  Good bye."

Carnelian slipped her phone back into her designer saddlebags.  More PR, but this distraction had helped her calm down and recognize the position she now found herself in.  Yes, it would cost tens of thousands to commission a new crown, but the thought that this thief was going to be forever antagonized for destroying and then stealing a priceless family heirloom was just priceless.  Perhaps she needn't kill him, after all.  He was a wanted stallion, and assassin or not, he couldn't evade her or the Guard forever.

With a satisfied sigh, she tossed her mane onto her other shoulder and exited the arena.  The hunt was on.

@J.R.

Raze kept focusing his thoughts... nothing, for now anyway.

"Damn..." he said under his breath. Suddenly, caltrops appeared on the ground in front of him, inhibiting his original path...

along with a monstrosity words could not describe.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!?!" he exclaimed pointing at the... thing in front of him. It had three heads, and it looked extremely obscene... he almost wanted to vomit, if it weren't for the fact he was being chased right now.

He looked to the left. There was a building located right before the caltrop-littered road, a store with a large display window in front of him. He braced himself, then ran and jumped into the window, shattering it. He landed on the ground with a roll, a bit sore from the impact. Nevertheless, he kept going. He infiltrated through the back door and onto a rooftop, where he jumped from that roof to another one. On top of it was a frozen-looking... "pony" hurling what appeared to be ice spells. He looked at the pony while he was running. He never knew someone was throwing magic up on the roofs, but that was besides the point. He kept running, jumping from the current rooftop into another, he turned around and unholstered his revolver, firing off a couple of shots at the guards still after him.

She flinched as his blood gushed onto her, and watched as it congealed into black symbols. Within moments, she felt ready to collapse onto the floor.

Mni responded by just taking one step backward to avoid the pathetic swing. "Ha ha ha!" He began to laugh before lifting his snout to the sky and letting out a hearty jeer. "HA HA HAHA! Look, Master Tricis! A comedian thought she could receive your training! Look at her impression of a shriveled old mare! Not as good as yours, I'm afraid!" Mni taunted, insulting both Jade and Tricis.

"Master, please end this fight!" Feather begged to Tricis. "Mni has already won. There's no reason she has to die!"

Tricis calmly extinguished her cigarette and gave Feather a passing glance. "Mni hasn't won this fight, boy. Right now, he's losing." She said, shocking feather.

"But what do you mean?"

"Take a closer look at both fighters. What do you really see?" Tricis instructed. When Feather looked back at the fighters, he saw how large Jades aura had become, swirling with power from her emotions and turmoil.

"The dimwit doesn't know how to unlock her potential, so Mni accidentally did it for her. That mark of death isn't going to hold her back for long."

Mni focused his energy into a scalpel-like energy blade at the tip of his hoof as he charged at Jade, poised to swing at her neck. "I hope you aren't too attached to your head! Ha ha!"

After the trail actually began getting difficult to follow, snowstorm slowly stopped, his ears still twitching around like a bugs antenae. He puckered his lips and let out a sharp, loud whistle into the trees, startling a few birds. "Far enough, yet?" He called out, obviously expecting to be heard. "I don't expect you're just doing this to be cute, are you?"

...no, she could feel some form of energy returning to her. Standing up was becoming much less of a chore, and she could manage a fleeter step.

Mni sped toward her with a scalpel-like energy sword, but she was more ready for it than moments before. She attempted to duck down just moments before the potential impact and to drive her hoof just below his ribcage.

Anette shook her head slightly, before she flashed Wilhelm an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ruin the mood. It's just I was concerned. Or maybe scared. When you left earlier, in order to go work on your project, I suppose... I just didn't know what had happened to you." She gave a sigh, and cracked into a slightly goofy grin, as the dolls took to silently watching the scene. Even Nightmare was unusually silent. "...Though I suppose all that matters is you're back now, and you're safe." She rolled into a genuine expression, shooting him the softest of looks over the table. "And i'm glad."

Wilhelm's expression had initially fallen, but as Anette continued to speak, the ghost of a smile flitted across his face. "Well, it wasn't much of a project." He looked down at his hooves, resting on the table inches from Anette's own. "It was more... an excuse. I was scared, to be honest. Scared of what may come or what might have come. And I'm not afraid to admit it." He shrugged faintly. "There isn't much I'm scared of anymore. But nevertheless... I understand. I hope I understand. And I'll tell you this much -- it won't happen again."

The smile returned. "Now, I hope you don't mi-" At that moment, whatever Wilhelm thought Anette might mind (probably a request for wine from the waiter) was cut off by a scream echoing across the city.

Instantly, nearly two decades' worth of training and experience went into action, and Wilhelm's bow was already unfolded and snapped onto the brace on his hoof by the time he reached the window. His satchel lay forgotten on the floor, open to reveal a large assortment of extremely esoteric paperwork, a novel, and a quiver's worth of armor-piercing broadheads -- plus the compartment for a collapsible compound torsion bow.

His eyes narrowed behind the glasses as he surveyed the Arena below, sweeping the streets in quadrants. In moments, he had pinpointed the source of all the commotion, and winced. There were one or two ponies on the rooftops and an absolute mob chasing a pony Wilhelm faintly remembered as Raze. The mob itself was headed by a vanguard of golden-armored Guard, and Wilhelm winced.

Looking over his withers, he gave Anette an apologetic smile. "The universe seems to be conspiring against any sort of romantic relationship between us." His gaze switched between the chase below, which was beginning to curve out of sight, and Anette sitting at the table. The waiter was approaching with their food, and Wilhelm took a deep breath before he pulled out his chair and sat down, leaving the bow strung over the edge of his chair. "Then again, if I have to fight the universe, so be it. Can't be any worse than Caliber."

Mni's eyes widened with confusion after Jade managed to duck, showing vulnerability for the first time. He had been so focused on her head and so sure that Jade wouldn't be able to move that her sudden duck made it seem like she'd.managed to disappear from thin air.

As Mni swing his blade at thin air, he felt a sharp, hard pain in his lower chest, far harder than any of Jade's previous strikes. Instinctively, he flapped his wings backwards to slightly decrease the internal damage from the kick, making him fly into the air for a brief moment before landing in a huttled over position. Her smirk grew at the thought. "It seems, with all of your shapeshifting, that you'll still just be nothing more than a cheap knockoff, demon."

She rose her head, standing much straighter than she had been just moments before. Her strength was somehow, but indeed, returning!

@@crispy fries, @,

A... third tingle. In such a short period of time to. He irritatingly attempted to ignore it before he realized it was Raze.

Hey... don't know if... hear this... Hell... I'm probably just... but if... I have... tiny problem.

Welp, that's that. He threw out his arm, creating a portal to his left, destined to outside the arena. using his magic to tear as much shadow with him as he could, he shrouded himself in it before charging through the portal. But before he did so, he left a little... present at the mare's feet. If she didn't move soon, she'd be incapacitated enough to where Agririon could count it as a win, or, at least, a tie. Otherwise, he'd take this loss on the chin and move on with his life.

"No! Don't be scared! Wait for me!" Mockingbird leaped about ten feet forwards towards Raze- and landed right on top of the caltrops. With a yelp of pain, she skidded on her eight legs about ten yards, colliding with and sending flying several ponies, guards or otherwise, in her way. sprawling in the streets, she spun around for a few moments before stopping a few yards in front of the window. She attempted to get up, but then very quickly thudded back down again- several of the caltrops had become imbedded in her hooves and, surely by now, her stomach. Wincing in pain, she attempted to push herself away from the opening, leaving behind a few short streaks of black ichor, before the center horn on the middle head started to glow as she started to pick out the barbed caltrops to the best of her abilities. In order to continue, the guards would have to come within the percieved range of a slightly sobbing mutated undead alicorn who was attempting to pick caltrops out of her hooves in order to follow Raze any farther. Did they have the guts to do so?

There was one moment- one- where Raze and Tsor'Ekoh met eyes. Rage that could melt ice boiled from this frozen lich's eyes, and literal steam was rising from his body as he took aim to throw a frost javelin that would impale him to the ground. throwing it at him with more strength that should be possible from a decrepit pony of his description. However, his blind rage meant that he couldn't aim, and he missed by a few centimeters.

At this point, the lich had heard the cries of Mockingbird and quickly dashed to the other side of the roof, viewing the chaos that was occuring below. He quickly skated down to the street on a track of ice before standing besides her, on the far side of her, muttering to himself. "Rotten imbeciles... none of them know what genius is. None of them. Hrgrmblbmblr...

"I'm sorry, father..." Mockingbird sobbed to the lich. "I scared the first one. I didn't mean to..."

"Hush, child," Tsor'Ekoh responded in a voice that did not at all fit his mood at the moment. "Accidents happen. You tried, that's all that matters, especially since you didn't know what to do. Pull out the ones of the left side, I'll get started on the ones to the right, and then we'll get our revenge together, alright?"

"Y-yes, father..."

((, @Literally Snails, @Fractured, @J.R.))

A black and green portal opened on a rooftop on the other side of the street, and then with the force of a thunderbolt, a stream of shadow energy streamed out of it, glowing faintly green as it rushed towards and then sidled up next to Raze. It rumbled there for a second before Agririon, cloaked from the public eye, looked next to him and grinned. "For future reference, you threw those words yourself. Shelevan's more of the telekinetic type, not me." He reached out a skeletal hand for Raze to take hold. "I've gotta make a pit stop real quick in Mortus, though, but looks like you could use the time to lay low a bit, hmm? Besides, there's nothing better than tea made by one of the Greater Powers."

@Orion Caelum

Anette paused, thinking to herself. She had heard the name Caliber before, but when. The thoughts slowly came back to her as she focused on them. Someone she had met a while back, but hadn't really spoken more than a word to, in truth.

"He seemed nice enough, when I met him, though I suppose it's very hard to tell at a first glance." She picked up her faint smile once again,as she looked at Wilhelm. "As for fighting the universe, well, i've been doing that ever since I left the institute. I'm sort of used to it by now, in all honesty..." She paused very briefly, realizing she didn't know whether that was a good thing or not. Probably not. "But if it's for someone I care about, i'll gladly kick destiny in the teeth one more time, as many times as necessary." The smile never left, though she did shoot the briefest of glances outside, past the window. An astute mind, or anyone who had been watching Anette carefully would notice a significant change; of the four dolls that had been with her, only two, Nightmare and Hero, remained next to her.

--------

, @Literally Snails

"Hey...!" The guards jumped and duck in fashion to as the bullets came flying, narrowly avoiding being marked by them by a stroke of luck. They turned the corner, but then paused, stopped dead in their tracks. They weren't exactly sure what they were seeing.

It was some sort of... thing, thing being the only word in Equis appropriate for the situation. Nearly as tall as a minotaur, and three times as ugly, with too many heads for life. Some parts indicated unicorn, and some parts pegasi, but all of it was wrong. Like somepony had been playing around with a Mix-a-life set, and just hit random. And the noise. Was that...?

The entire legion, some ten in all, backed up, adopting various expressions of revulsion and fear. One guard simply shook his head, before backing out of the alleyway and back down the street, muttering to himself. Two guards quickly found their internal stomach contents were now external, as they vomited uncontrollably despite themselves. And one ashamedly lost control of his bodily functions, though, for the rest of his days, none of the other guards would dare hold it against him. But, all at once, they backed up slowly in unison, before their animal instincts got the better of them. Then they bolted, not bothering to keep their voices down or their wits about them as they scattered. There would be many, many years of drinking to accompany this day.

@J.R.

Ivory Star could feel the cold moving around her, like creepy, icy fingers, pinching at her skin. Unpleasant, to say the least. But she continued to build up the magic inside her as well, letting it saturate the air around her. Very soon, it went from simply feeling like liquid, to looking like it. The air around her was visibly swimming, clear energy dancing and twisting around her like living creatures.

Then, in a rush, it was all gone. The magic extinguished, and it was just Ivory Star, gritting her teeth at the realization that, should she go through with that much energy in one spell, she'd probably kill him. Instead, she tried something else. Taking whatever was left of the energy she had been building, she set it to a wave around her, preparing a different, only slightly less effective spell. Hopefully, this would work, and Ice Blizzard wouldn't notice the difference.

-------

If only she could. In truth, there were very few solutions she could come up with at all, that didn't require either costs too great, or sacrifices beyond her ability to manage as ruler. Or that didn't require her forcing her ponies into a situation that they wouldn't find an ounce of comfort in. But regardless, she needed to try.

"My plan..." She paused in delivery of her thoughts; something she found indispensable, as a ruler. "As I am aware, there is only one object in the whole of Equestria capable of providing a constant outpouring of love. And that is the Crystal Heart." As she sure Chrysalis was aware; she'd had first hoof experience with it, after all. "What is intended would be for a separate town to be built, within its limits. You and your changelings would stay there, and, once in a particular time period, make trips to feed off of the love that is contained within." Celestia finished, but only in speaking. Already, her mind was calculating at a furious pace. One part working on possible angles this could go wrong, and to what extent. Another, calculating potential unexpected negatives and benefits in the given situation. And still another, watching Kevin and Chrysalis, studying their behavior. Despite herself, unraveling them...

With the rush of a portal unfolding above the field, a soft gray unicorn appeared, looking around at the spectacle, for lack of a better word to describe the scene. A disaster, she concluded a split second later. One pony unconscious, hanging against some sort of weird orb thing, and some kind of machine, desperately trying to cut another out of what appeared to be a giant mechanical minotaur. Or at least, whatever was left of it. It appeared to be a molten wreck right now, and whoever was inside would probably die, if they were left in there any longer. She sighed to herself; she couldn't believe music would have to wait for now.

"Okay, lets just make this quick..." She stopped only for the briefest of seconds, concentrating, feeling out the pony's form within the scrap, before she sent out a wave of pressure with the toss of her head, punching clean through the top half of the scrap. At least, enough to see her, and that was enough. In a rush of wind, solid purple portals appeared over both of them, herself, and the robot as well, which she assumed belonged to the mare in question. They all disappeared...

Instants later, they reappeared, at the hospital. Nurse Redheart blinked, but, with the decades of experience afforded to her in this position, didn't miss a step. Stretchers were called, and both of them were carried away, to be rested and treated in separate rooms. The mare shook her head as they were taken off, still not quite understanding what had just happened. She muttered to herself " You know... I'm still not sure I even want to know..."

@@Literally Snails,

It was a purple cloud of dust of some kind. Something that would more than likely be toxic. If he stayed exposed to the gas for much longer...he would eventually fall asleep....

@@Fractured,

Ice could feel the magic that Ivory was emitting. This would be powerful for sure. Something might not be guaranteed to survive....but of course, he knew this was Bangcolt, and that the rules restricted others from fully killing each other. However, he was admittedly a bit excited in wondering what kind of attack his old friend had to try and end it, because he wouldn't be letting up.

With a spin, he would then try a new version of executing his most powerful attack. A few blew streams of aura would start to surround and revolve around him. His eyes would slowly started to emit the same aura, as a grin crossed his muzzle. As if he was getting ready to jump, Ice crouched low to the ground, and waited for the right moment....

@@Fractured,

Nightingale would notice that no one in the club seemed to be paying any mind to the two ponies at the bar. A burly looking diamond dog with a scar over his eye seemed to be having it out with an equally muscular earth pony. Just before things appeared to come to blows, one of the many identical looking ponies in suits broke the two up. Saying that if they wanted to fight they should take it to something he called “The Pit.”

“A chance?” Fuse raised an eyebrow, turning his gaze towards Nightingale, “I figured you needed these for a job and considering the kinds of jobs ponies like us are given it’s rare that one would consider it an… opportunity.”

The pryokinetic’s lips slowly curled into a grin, “Maybe I misjudged you.”

Raze holstered his revolver and quickly turned his head as he saw Agririon materialize from a portal, holding out his hoof. He took a hold of it.

"Great, cool, whatever man, just get me out of here and away from the guards and Rob Zombie over there, please!"

@J.R.

Ivory Star blinked as she looked over at Ice Blizzard, still charging her attack in the meanwhile. What she hadn't realized; there was a lot of energy being built up over on his side, and she didn't even need to use her own magic to see it. Maybe she should have gone with the first attack...

No, she concluded an instant later. This would be enough. And if not, she had what she believed to be a trump card, if Ice Blizzard's particular pattern held up on his end. Or, if not, something that would at the very least ensure that she somehow survived this process. She really didn't want to conclude her first match with being carried off into the hospital. Or, for this body, an early grave, she thought with a sigh.

She began. The first attack, consisting of little more than a massive, rolling wall of clear energy, at least forty feet high, and the same in length. It swept forward towards Ice Blizzard; provided it hit, it would feel like being smacked with several small buildings. Possibly excessive, but she'd have to wait for his own attack in order to see that.

@Star Saber

Nightingale's ears perked up slightly, as she overheard the conversation between the two characters in the background. Maybe she'd ask around later, to see what was going on; this pit did sound incredibly interesting, after all. But for now, she focused on Fuse, giving him a soft chuckle in response.

"Maybe you did." She shot him a grin, brewing with a cold intent. "I've been nearly everywhere in Equis, from Canterolt, to Las Pegasus, to the Badlands. I've done plenty of things that other ponies would regret, stole objects that would be considered a fortune, and evaded my way through guards, dragons, and minotaurs, and enjoyed every bit of it." She chuckled dismissively, looking smugly at Fuse. "In fact, over the years there's only one thing I enjoy more than prospect of causing a ruckus." She practically purred the word out as it came; even the thought was sufficient to give her chills. "Fire."

@,

"Excellent. Time to make you disappear, then." Ensuring he had a firm grip, he leaped up, spiraled off the roof, and fell into a portal about ten feet off the ground. The wispy shadows followed him- but they phased right through the portal as if it wasn't even there. The shadows then proceeded the dissapate upon hitting the ground- to bystanders, he did truly just... vanish.

It was a whir of color and voices and accessories among a background of what appeared to be a white city similar from the one that was just exited before Agririon appeared, smiling to himself. "Ah, yes. Home. Now, stay close. We're gonna cut right to the next relay station as fast as possible and then get back to Bangcolt- preferably on the directly opposite side of it." He quickly thought to himself before opening the portal to the city itself, and took out and handed him a bag of coins. "You can find anything in the universe here at Mortus. The rule here is fast and honest- the person in question offers his prices on a rather large sign, and then you drop either the money or the item and take the other thing. It's really fast and designed for you to be able to buy things as you're rushing through crowds, but be warned- the vendors are extremely sharp-eyed and send identities of people stealing to the relay points. Don't delay me for hours because you went and snagged something that isn't yours. Also, I'd drop those silver ingots off someplace while you're here, too- nobody here's picky about origin, and silver's extremely rare in the universe- only about four planes have it."

And then they were in the city. Noise, hustle and bustle. There was a large, decorated street that seemed to lead to a huge palace looming in the distance, but the entire rest of the city was circles and circles of houses and markets. And alongside of Agririon, at which he was being held very closely to as he pretty much toured several of the marketplaces searching for the next point, he was able to hear all kinds of conversations between the curious specters and him.

"Yes, yes. No time to talk too much, gotta run back. Just making a shortcut for a few things. This is Raze. No, he's not dead. Why would I be letting him tour the streets escorting him if he was dead? Yes, because I'm that irresponsible. No, that was sarcasm. Go away. Ah, Mercurial! Just as charming as ever, in triplicate as well. Enjoy your visit to Ignautius? I see. Well, no time to chat. Tell the others I said hi. Oh, Raze, you should try this tea- I wasn't joking, he cultivates his own tea trees, it's really interesting. He's a really interesting character. You'll get to meet him at least once, heh. Oh, a courier. Yes, how can I help you. Oh, Rosalia's back! I'll have to talk to her next time I'm around. Can't right now, but send her my apologies and set a date in... oh, a week or two for me to relax with her. Just inform me of it, I'll make sure I'm available unless the apocolypse happens again. Yes, that tends to happen often, doesn't it? Oh, well. Best of luck to you. Ah, here it is! Sunleaf powder. Needed some of this- allergies, you know. Fall's right around the corner. Oh, this is just grand! A vial of..."

This continued for about thirty minutes of circling around various ports, during which time Raze had plenty of opportunity to buy and sell whatever he wanted...

After giving Raze time to buy whatever he wanted, he stretched and paused in front of an ornate door, at which he pulled Raze aside and entered into. He closed the door and, with a breath, held up a hand and created a portal back to Bangcolt. "Alright, we're here. Take a breath for a moment and relax, and here's the relay... take a breath and, when you're ready, go ahead and go in. I've cleared it to link back to Bangcolt, you'll decide where you want to be dropped off. You probably know the city better than me anyways. I'll catch up as soon as I can; I don't want to be accused of having anything to do with this incident. Also, you owe me. Another one. Heh." He leaned up against the front door and peered outside before quickly turning a bolt that was behind it. "Welp, go nuts." He walked into one of the two doors at the side, taking out what appears to be paperwork with writing in various scripts on it from his cloak before closing the door behind him, leaving Raze alone with a portal in front of him and able to do whatever he wanted to at that point- even return to Mortus from the front door if he so chose to.

@@Fractured,

As the energy surrounded him, Ice channeled his power to his hooftips. With this, he would be able to engage the full extent of his attack. Whether he won or lost didn't matter. All that mattered was that he would get to exchange his most powerful ability with Ivory as she did with him.

It was time.

The very moment Ice saw the large blocks of energy, he gritted his teeth, and jumped as high as he could--about 7 feet into the air. And came back down with a spin, punching into the earth....

As soon as he did, a modified version of his DIME Blast would be activated. Instead of millions of razor sharp dry ice shards coming after her like it normally would. It would instead expand as a giant, pure white, 40 foot tall, dome explosion that would back its force with over 10 tons of dry ice snow, barreling towards Ivory at a high speed. More than likely, it would clash with her attack...

@J.R.

Ivory Star watched as the monstrosity of an attack that Ice Blizzard had launched collided with her own, battling it. Like two massive giants wrestling in the middle of the field. And, thus far, it looked like Ice Blizzard's was going to win, she thought contemplatively.

She thought of her two remaining options; attack, or defend. She could muster up a bigger shot, if she needed to, but as she looked over to Ice Blizzard, on the other side of the clash, she settled on the second option. Moments before Ice Blizzard's blast overcame hers, sweeping out towards her, she flipped into a roll, surrounding herself with nothing more than a single, shimmering personally sized bubble shield. Then, the energy was over her, enveloping her inside the whitest of lights...

@@Fractured,

Fuse couldn’t help but chuckle at the revelation; hell he had to force himself not to break out into full laughter, “I’m sure you’ve already figured out that fire is my specialty; but it’s nice to find a kindred spirit. The heat, how it looks when it’s in a roaring blaze. You’d be surprised how it feels to hold when it’s not burning you… I’d dare say it’s the only thing that really makes me feel alive.”
