What were some ideas, characters, or episodes that were planned to happen, but for one reason or another, were scrapped?

To start, Magical Mystery Cure was supposed to be two part episode, series finale, and had quite a different plot involving Twilight needing to solve a problem not even Celestia is able to fix which would eventually lead her to be part of royalty.

Are we talking about FiM specifically? Or shows in general?

 

I do know that there was a couple of FiM unused ideas like how Big Mac was supposed to have an episode earlier on, with it being a silent episode, and he was apparent getting fed up with his family for a bit. There was also an episode where Pinkie was possessed by Discord and the Princesses(yes both of them) had to exorcise her. Then there was that deer who thought he/she was a pony and AJ and RD debated whether they should reveal the truth or not.

 

As for other TV shows...Had it made it to a third season, Megas XLR was supposed to have an origin story episode for the Glorft and an episode where Gorrath dated Coop's mom(which sounds absolutely terrible and hilarious)

A Friend in Deed was supposed to introduce Twist's mother, Shimmy Shake back when Smile Song had Talk-singing in it and was totally a different song.

Spike at Your Service was originally be a Rarity episode, but was changed because it apparently made Rarity seem too mean or something to that extent.

If we are talking about any show in general... Ed, Edd, n Eddy had an episode called "Special Ed" that the creator stopped working on because he said, quote unquote, "It just got too real." 

 

The Amazing World of Gumball episode, "The Downer" was too deemed too dark by Cartoon Network during it's production, so it had to be reworked into a more kid friendly episode.

 

Codename: Kids Next Door creators were going to do a parody of the Lorax in an episode called Operation T.R.E.E.S, but they first had to ask permission to do so from Theodore Geisel's estate, they declined and the episode was scrapped.

Several weeks ago, I just found out they are some MLP episodes that were planned and scripted, but didn't make the cut during production. Now, I am aware that M.A Larson wrote the original script of the Fame and Misfortune(and he didn't like it for what I've heard), but there's a lot more stuff that I'm so fascinate with.
