Help needed with OC

Well.....

 

I don't really know what to do with my OC, only things I come up with are.

His name is ''Magic Potion'' but he calls himself as ''Demosthenes''

Looks like something like this(will get small changes maybe)

 

 

Cutie mark is something like this 

 

He is unicorn, male, blonde, interested in magic,potion making and magical plants/creatures  lives in Everfree alone , is very helpful and kind but likes being alone and don't like being disturbed or threaten, secretly studying all kinds of magic (unicorn and not_unicorn, known and unknown, old and new, good and evil...) but is good only with potion magic, goes into towns/cities/villages only when needs resources(food, etc.).And when he goes outside, he wears hooded cape. 

 

 

I'm happy to hear critique about what I come up with and if possible get some help with everything else.

Well one,  i would come up with a image of him, even using the pony maker helps you if you see the oc to get to know and evolve them a bit more!   I might stay away from dark magic a bit and given he spends a lot of time in the everfree forest,  maybe he looks into "wild to unknown" magic in study like you see in the Forest?

when u redraw this (either digital/traditional) you might want to change the mane and tail style to a more original one.the colour scheme is eye friendly.

So you need help defining who he is? Have you tried giving him a profile in the character database? Perhaps having one will help you keep his information organized. You already have a little covered. 

 

Magic Potion is a Unicorn Stallion with an affinity for potion making. He lives all alone in the Everfree Forest where potion ingredients are plentiful and he can remain undisturbed. Now add a backstory.

 

Ask yourself simple questions like these...

 

1. Where was he born and where has he lived? Who are his parents and how did they raise him?

2. How did he discover his special talent? Who was there? Was it by accident or did he pursue it?

3. What is his daily life like? Does he work for anyone? Does he have a relationship with anyone?

 

And if I may, I would like to suggest a few minor changes to his design. Consider the following...

 

 

 

I took the liberty of recoloring Magic Potion for you. His original color scheme had too much blue.

 

When you have him professionally illustrated, perhaps consider making his left ear whole again?

 

And of course, feel free to completely ignore me.

There is no such thing as too much blue. The original is, in my opinion, much friendlier on the eyes.

@, Yes, perhaps I worded that poorly. In my opinion I believe the original color scheme can be improved by adding more complementary colors, though not specifically those I'm suggesting.

I thank you for you opinion and hints. I write them down and consider changes that might happen.
