Azureth 687 October 8, 2015 Share October 8, 2015 I have heard it spelled both ways. On the MLP wiki it is Cadance (with an A) whereas it seems on here most spell it as Cadence (with an E). So who is right?
Odyssey 5,718 October 8, 2015 Share October 8, 2015 The official spelling is Princess Cadance. Of course, Cadence would make more sense as it's spelt correctly and fits her character a little bit more, but whatever.
Rawzy 1,302 October 8, 2015 Share October 8, 2015 Cadence Just sounds more casual and laidback than Caydance. I agree with Odyssey, it fits her character better. Think For Yourself. Be Yourself.
CookieK 74 October 8, 2015 Share October 8, 2015 (edited) Cadence. Its a shorten form of her last name Cadenza. Hasbro may use Cadance but show wise her name is Cadence. Edited October 9, 2015 by CookieK
Biggybrony 244 October 8, 2015 Share October 8, 2015 The musical term, as well as it's other dictionary definitions, is spelt 'Cadence' I'm not a medical expert, psychologist, psychiatrist, teacher or love doctor. Take my words with a pinch of salt, yeah? I am an experienced cook, musician and care worker though, so that's something.
Lord Bradley 1,319 October 8, 2015 Share October 8, 2015 (edited) Personally, i prefer Can-Dance, but i suppose i'll be serious here. Anyway, i feel Cadance is her formal name, meant to be written on contracts, royal decrees/mails and such. And Cadence is more informal, meant for friends and family through personal mail and the like. And, as the people above me have said, Cadence suits her personality more. More clearly written: Cadance is her "official" name, but Cadence is her "Unofficial" name which everyone uses. manic 121 October 8, 2015 Share October 8, 2015 (edited) Of course it's Cadence. Cadance isn't a word. The wiki isn't immune to typos, ya know ;P Edited October 8, 2015 by manic

Wind Chaser 4,768 October 8, 2015 Share October 8, 2015 Cadance is the official spelling. Says so on the box: Cadence is the more common spelling as a name and the correct spelling as a word, however.
Courageous Thunder Dash 7,824 October 8, 2015 Share October 8, 2015 (edited) The official spelling is Cadance, but I prefer Cadence, it just seems more right to me. Cadence is also a musical term. I don't know why they spell it like that...they should really change it from Cadance to Cadence. Even my internet browser is marking Cadance wrong. Edited October 8, 2015 by C. mars 4,863 October 8, 2015 Share October 8, 2015 Cadance. I always used to call her Cadence, but if that's the official spelling it's the official spelling. For all those who are saying: "Cadence is the proper spelling!" Is it Kaitlyn, Katelyn, Kaitlin, Katelynn, Katlyn, Kaitlynn, Katelin, Katlynn, Kaitlin, Caitlyn, or Caitlynn?
MLPFanatic34 3,241 October 9, 2015 Share October 9, 2015 I usually say either Cadance or Cadence.
PoisonClaw 8,172 October 9, 2015 Share October 9, 2015 By this point, I would wager either would work. Cadence is an actually musical term (and is referenced in the fact that in This Day Aria, Chrysalis sings something called a "deceptive Cadence") and her full name is Mi Amore Cadenza. Cadence is also used in the credits for A Canterlot Wedding and The Crystal Empire, but every appearance afterwards has used Cadance. I noticed awhile back that I'm not consistent in how I spell her name, having written it both ways before. If I had to pick one, I think I prefer Cadence more. DND 2,355 October 9, 2015 Share October 9, 2015 It may seem a bit odd to have it spelled as "Cadance" but I feel as a few others have stated it adds individuality. It could be that the girl who was designed after Princess Cadance had some inspiration derived from her name as well. They do tend to switch spellings however. "Cadence" being better suited to her full name Cadenza has been featured in the Canterlot Wedding two-parters. You can still use both at times and not be completely wrong but it seems Cadance is sticking.
