cider float 2,538 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 Up till now Twilight never used the age spell nor was she able to use one as an unicorn. So wouldn't she just have the same lifespan of an ordinary unicorn?

A Joe in the Bush 255 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 I believe the writers have confirmed that she won't outlive her friends. Admittedly there is some wiggle room on that, since they could be granted immorality as well. 1 My Everfree Empire OC's: Hidden Antler, Earth Pony Ranger

Frostgage 7,976 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 Meghan McCarthy said a few years ago that Twilight won't outlive her friends. Whether this means that she won't live as long as Celestia and Luna, her friends will also become alicorns or something else entirely remains to be seen. 2 Signature by Lacerna | You should fill out my Johari Window. krindar 50 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 I'm inclined to say no, but I think it'll be left to our headcanons. With the show being not too eager to bring up what actually happened with AJ's parents, I don't think it'll go into much more detail discussing characters mortality. cmarston1 5,959 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 No. It's already been confirmed that Twilight won't outlive her friends. And thus not live as long as Celestia and Luna.
PoisonClaw 8,166 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 (edited) I'd have to say no. It's alwasy been my belief that Luna and Celestia have lived as long as they have due to outside forces, so while being an alicorn might grant her a longer life-span, I can't see her living thousands of years. Same with Cadence. Edited October 17, 2015 by PoisonClaw 1 MLPForums "Self-Proclaimed" Kamen Rider NutNow, count up your sins!I do Traditional commissions, by the way! See them HERE! J. Brony 313 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 (edited) I doubt it but for annoyingly practical reasons. MLP isn't the sort of show that's written with enough gravity to delve into the subject of Twilight's mortality or observe her reactions to the loss of her friends. At it's base, it's a show for children so it's atmosphere will remain bright and cheerful throughout. Leave the dark and edgy stuff to the fic writers. As far as the issue of their lifespans, Twilight and her friends will live for as long as they have fans who love and remember them. Edited October 17, 2015 by J. A Joe in the Bush 255 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 That delves into Headcannon and/or comic territory. I believe it's because Celestia and Luna tied their life force to the Sun and Moon repectively, so they'll live until the sun burns out. Others claim they're not immortal, but that they're a line of ponies who assume the role and their regalia gives them the powers of Alicorns. (Notice how Celestia sleeps in her regalia?) Most say it's bevause they were born Alicorns. They didn't ascend like Cadence and Twilight. My personal favorite headcannon is they're undead. 1 My Everfree Empire OC's: Hidden Antler, Earth Pony Ranger
Unlikeable Pony 2,698 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 How come Celestia and Luna have Eternal Youth and Twilight doesn't though? The prevailing theory is that "artificial" alicorns are less powerful than "Born"/"Real" alicorns like celestia and lack eternal life. So Twilight and Cadence wouldn't be immortal due to being ascended from mortals, but celestia and Luna were born alicorns from alicorn parents so they're immortal. Yeah, like everyone else said, it's been confirmed that Twilight's not gonna outlive her friends Personally, I take this as merely being "Its never going to come up in the show so it doesn't matter and I don't have to deal with that plot point" from McCarthy. Meghan McCarthy said a few years ago that Twilight won't outlive her friends. Whether this means that she won't live as long as Celestia and Luna, her friends will also become alicorns or something else entirely remains to be seen. Eh, I can pretty much say the "all mane six won't become alicorns" thing won't happen. I'm 100% "I'd bet money at 1,000,000 to 1 pay odds" certain. Either its just that it'll never be addressed in show (Most likely since they're not going to do any time skips or anything and it'll end far before aging would set in), Twilight's mortal due to being an artificial alicorn (also likely), or they come up with a "Twilight's friends are linked to her life force" explanation.
J. Brony 313 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 (edited) How come Celestia and Luna have Eternal Youth and Twilight doesn't though? I'm not sure if this is the case. Saying that "Twilight won't outlive her friends." doesn't necessarily suggest that Celestia and Luna are immortal. There's just as much headcanon to support the notion that they are mortal but live for hundreds of years as there is saying that they will live forever. On the same theme, one can suggest that Celestia is nearing the end of her lifespan and is searching for an heir (Twilight) with as much validity as to suggest that she is merely stepping down from her post. Until there is some kind of canon evidence supporting one theory over another, they all hold as much water. Edited October 17, 2015 by J. UnknownFry 169 October 17, 2015 Share October 17, 2015 Maybe, and maybe not. The response to that question that people keep citing is more or a less a non-answer to the question without committing themselves too specifically.

I believe it's because Celestia and Luna tied their life force to the Sun and Moon repectively, so they'll live until the sun burns out. I kind of like to believe that's why they have flowing ethereal manes while twilight doesn't, since they're tied to a cosmic power source. I would also like to think cadence will get a mane in the future down the line (not in show probably, but just headcanon) due to being tied to the crystal heart. sweetolebob18 728 October 19, 2015 Share October 19, 2015 As everyone says, the writers say T won't outlive her friends. On the other hand, Maggie Simpson has been about 1 year old for going on 30 years, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,803 October 19, 2015 Share October 19, 2015 Nope. I would assume nope at least. As much as I would love for her to live that long, I think Twilight is the same as Cadence, where she was not born as a sort of demi-god, which I think that is what Luna and Celestia are, sort of demi-gods that were born as Alicorns, hence why they have lived for so long and may even have immortality. Sadly, best princess does not have such a thing I don't think.
MLPFanatic34 3,234 October 19, 2015 Share October 19, 2015 I don't believe Twilight will outlive her friends since she wasn't born an alicorn.
