Which is a problem because they are losing them right now. They need to care because they need sales.

The console wars are stupid, Nintendo is NOT going to fall. They have many good exclusive IPs. And I LIKED the idea of the Wii U. A controller that allows you to continue playing if someone else want to use the tv? Awesome! Why the hell hasnt Sony or Microsoft also made a similar controller for their consoles?

Perhaps this is why? Nintendo is dead last, behind the Xbox One, which has sold terribly in every market. The PS4 is getting close to TRIPLING Wii U sales.The Wii U only managed to sell a little over 200,000 units during the time it took Sony to sell 2 million. The controller only made the system harder to develop for, so those third party titles are not coming to Nintendo for that reason.

 

Nintendo has reported ANOTHER quarter of market loss for almost the 3rd year in a row now. Meaning for the 3 years that the Wii U has been on the market, Nintendo has reported record losses. Clearly the Wii U was not the direction to go.

 

Also a second screen that you can play on when the TV is being used has been done by Sony:

 

They just did a better job at it is all.

Advertising was a factor, yes, but it's been 2 years now. You can't tell me that the problem is still advertising. The problem is a lot of design flaws with the system that make it not convenient on the consumer or developers for making games. That just adds to the problem because people who want say, the latest Bethesda game are not going to get the system at all. People are getting tired of having to buy Nintendo's consoles JUST to get Nintendo games when they are playing a majority of their other games on another platform. We're reaching a point where people just saying "you know what? I don't need to play the latest Mario" because they don't want to invest in more hardware for 2-5 games.

 

Also that's not really an adapter. The clip is like probably $10, but if you have a Sony phone, you can use it as a second screen. Compatibility with other smartphone brands is coming soon. Microsoft also has that with Xbox Glass where you can use any Windows phone as a second screen. Hell with the Xbox One you can even stream your games to your Windows 10 PC screen.

 

So second screen gaming has been done by the other companies... Just better.

Nintendo has released all of their system-savers, including Super Smash Bros. And Nintendo has advertised the heck out of Splatoon. It still hasn't made the Wii U #1... Or even #2...

Pretty much. While Smash Bros. Splatoon and Mario Maker all have managed to sell over a million copies... They were only bought by people who already owned the system. The problem is they are not attracting enough new players to the system. The fact that in a 2 month period they only managed to gain 200,000 new players is not good. In the same time, their competition managed 10 times that.

 

If people don't think Nintendo is "competing" then they can sit back and enjoy the end of Nintendo making home consoles, because if the NX bombs as hard as the Wii U, I can't see Nintendo's investors wanting to waste money on another home console.

I'm not 100% convinced this will be the NX, but if it is I can already see some issues with it.
